I see no reason why not to take the unseen, have them freshened up by everyone's favourite concept artist, and plant them in the game.
The new version will surely look different than the "I look like an 80's car" design of the unseen, as well as the "I look as round as your mum!" design of the reseen.

So it's always a win.

Honestly, there are more than enough mechs in the TT that look good for the unseen/reseen mechs to be completely ignored and the game to be full.

Sure I loved the unseen (except for the Griffin, which sucked), but they're simply not needed.

Oh my... there are two, maybe three mechs from Robotech, no wonder they had legal issues xD Basicly identical xD heads, legs, arms, weapons, plane-like torso.... xD

It's all down to personal taste. Some of the reseen are nice, some are not, but as we will probably never see the unseen again - unless one or some of us win the lotto and buy out Harmony Gold, just so we can see them again - I would be happy to have any of the reseen 'Mechs included.

The Reseen Locust looks neat, reminds me even more of Macross mechs. The Reseen Rifleman looks really gross though.

btw, Id totally drop $50 just for the Battlemaster.

It would be nice is the unseens could be purchased with real money and part of that money went off to HG for proper license use. I would totaly buy a marauder that way.

99% of them I like the reseen. Though a few look better in unseen. If it was a choice of one or the other, I would say reseen.

I like the majority of the Reseen, but I HATE the following Mechs' Reseen versions:

1. Marauder

It looks nothing like the unseen marauder that we all know and love. Other than that, looks decent.

2. Locust

A bit more loyal to it's original design than the Marauder, but it looks HORRIBLE. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGH!

3. Warhammer

I like these variants:

(I also like the others that look like this one)

But I hate these:




4. Shadow Hawk.

One word: COBRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!

Other than those, I like all of the Reseen mechs. it's also good to see the Wasp and Stinger not look almost the same for a change.

Griffin: reseen
Rifleman: unseen
Locust: unseen
Warhammer: unseen
Archer: reseen
Stinger: unseen
Battlemaster: reseen
Marauder: both are awesome
Shadow Hawk: unseen
Ostsomething: they are all ugly
Wasp: unseen
Valkyrie: both are good
Phoenix Hawk: both are cool
Wolverine: unseen (I dislike all those reseen with weird antenna)
Longbow: reseen

Hmmm... just as an indication of what the source material looks like so you can judge how much change it needs before they can be cleared of lawsuit of infringement in the event that one comes...

Sorry, I've seen them, I can't Unseen them.
Forget HG, the pukes aren't going to do anything with the designs anyway.

Though one or two of the Reseen aren't half bad, they could always come in at Mk II's or some such thing. But some are plain junk compared to the original, like the Phoenix Hawk and Shadow Hawk. I want my Marauder!

The Reseen BattleMaster would make for an awesome variant.

What he said. However, I am a firm believer in the originals in most if not all things. Mechs, Star Wars, ep. 4 Han shoots 1st etc, various cartoons being remade etc.

But If the mechs could make it into the game awesome (see what I did there?) If they have to be reseen to do it, so be it.

And again, i, unfortunately, could not. You see, usage of even a single one unseen may (and most likely will) result in HG lawsuit. They own them. And if reseen make it to the game - no lawsuit will come 100%. That's why there are only two variants in the poll.

Some of the reseen options look pretty neat, but the Marauder is unrecognizable as the death machine I took to the field in MW2. Sooo, unseen for that. The Warhammer, too.

In the end, if I see any of them in this game, I will be pleased.

Unseens all the way. I started with the Battletech 2nd Edition game, and have piloted the Warhammer ever since... some of the reseen mechs have good qualities but overall the unseens are the ones I grew up with. With some tweaking as shown in the MW:O trailer, the Warhammer looks great, as would the other unseens.

Reseen Warhammer and Marauder? No thank you.

Even having designs "based upon the Unseen but having our resident artist's personal touches" would still violate Harmony Gold's rights -- that's essentially what they did for BattleTech in the first place, and why all the trouble started.

The only way we're getting the Unseen is if Harmony Gold allows PGI to buy the rights to use them in the game. In addition to being unlikely to happen, that would be hideously expensive.

If anybody wants to see any of those 'Mechs in the game, they're going to have to "settle" for the Reseen (a.k.a. Project Phoenix) designs. Our resident artist can then make them all spiffy for MW:O.

If you look at the unseen design though, it was not just 'based upon' with personal touches...

it was IDENTICAL copy, of the material...
for example from my post above:

Those are not just similar design, they are IDENTICAL... almost direct trace of the original design.
