Currently, there is only the "color blind reticle" option in the game, which just makes the reticle change shape and color when you hit a target.

However, in another thread someone suggested a possible work around for color blind people. If you have Win 10, it has some built in support features that might assist but changing all your colors for everything. Basically, rather than expecting the game to conform to you, why not have your computer do that task for you? If you are color blind, shouldn't setting up a color blind feature on your computer be of more help in the long run?

Sadly, I do not know the feature that was discussed, and I don't have links to send you to them. Sorry.

If running Windows 10 you can change via Settings, Ease of Access then color filters. I played with it for awhile. Talk about being different Posted Image

To toggle the set filter on/off via the hotkey, if enabled, is done without game being in focus. MWO has window key disabled when in focus, for obvious reasons.. Posted Image Oh no, I cannot control my mech (person had hit window key, losing focus..)

And the above is just within Windows 10. There are some other third party programs that would a user to customize the system color difference than just the baseline Windows 10 setup.

Alright, cool, this one is near and dear to my heart because I am Red Green colorblind by a lot. I flunked out of any tests to fly and even some special forces attempts due to not being able to tell flair colors. So .. here's the dealio

The Paper Doll is useless to me. I can't use it to tell what my mech is like and how to best roll it. I can only sort of guess somewhat due to if there is a line around it.. line is brighter.. line is gone or what ever.

You know that bar system you have for your VIP in the escort mode? I need that for my mech. We've had the Bar read out for .. almost every MW game I know of since MW2. I need it to tell what is going on with my mech.. for MY health.

Please implement this.

Same I can’t wait for another person to claim Windows 10 color blind support can fix that. I gave up on asking about it.

I've been told it could help. Never had to deal with it myself as I don't have any color blind issues.

Q: Can't you also consider adjusting your monitor itself? You should be able to adjust the color settings on your monitor to maybe help with the situation, I would imagine.

Remember, the biggest block to a true color blind mode is.... which type of color blindness are you adjusting for. A quick google search (so I didn't do anything drastic) showed 7-8 color blind types. Each type would need it's own correction...

Now, I will comment that bar stats for health (rather than the paperdoll) would be appreciated for it's greater form of accuracy. Depending upon how it's down though, it still might not be visible to some people. I know I use to play the previous MW games with the bar health graphs on so I could more precisely gauge my actual health.

Personally speaking, as of this point, I have no farther suggestions. I can't think of anything else you can do to adjust the color spectrum into your favor. I do wish I could be of more help.

The issue is the paper doll is useless and we can’t edit that.

There is no way to change monitor colors to exclude certain colors and change them to colors you can see? I've never had to adjust my screen like that, so I don't know for certain.

And, for the record, I would love to see the bar health graphs in this game. They are far more precise than the paperdoll. So no argument from me there.

Here is a Crazy Idea. make a freaking Reticle that is simply BLACK and one that looks like one used of Riflescopes for many years all over the world.

I do understand the PGI is a Canadian company and no one there has ever fired a gun so I will google it for you.

Wow, that took 6 seconds, I'm exhausted and I need a nap.

For one reason why it shouldn't be black... Look at those reticles on the dark grey background here on the forums (the bottom picture). Imagine that in game, while things are moving, on dark mechs, maps and areas. Grim, Mining, etc would be real fun with a black reticle in those really dark places. Try to find where you are aiming...

On top of that, how well will those reticles work with missile locks? Floating arm aiming?

I'm not saying we can't change the reticle or it's color. But black probably isn't a good solution either... Personally, I wish PGI would just let us choose the color for our reticles. If someone wants flamingo pink, let them use it. If someone wants orange, why not? Decide on black, go ahead. If it's an option for everyone, then it can't be claimed to provide a bonus to some people but not to others. (AKA: Wont effect balance.)

As a color blind person, I can't see that **** to well when it's not on the white background.

The aiming circle is fine, We need to change the damn paper doll.

I agree that the paperdoll should have the option of a bar graph, rather than colored sections. I have very good color vision, but even I can't really tell if I'm at 50% armor left, or 99% in a location. The color really doesn't change until after 50% armor loss (the changes are so minute). A bar display would provide far more accurate information as well as just be more visible to everyone.

I thought it was obvious that the bottom picture did not show up correctly, I will delete it. It was not like this in the image I found. As far as Missile locks, simply stay with Red.

As it is, I often cannot tell where it is. Just being able to choose your color would help. How about Black with White on the edge.

The bottom image was a GIF with a transparent background, so the black of the webpage showed through. However, it gave en excellent reason against making them pure black.

As a graphic designer (by degree only sadly), I can say doing an outline on items tends to make things busier and actually harder to see than you may think. However, it could work... I think the simpler solution is just making the reticle/HUD color changeable. This would appease everyone, and provide no inherent advantage to any one person, as everyone has the same options. I know of many games that do this approach, and it's not bad.

The paper doll is useless to me as well. Until it is too late. Bright green and yellow might as well be the same color to me.

I read this and decided to test it to see how effective.

First I went to https://enchroma.com/pages/test and went through the color blindness test to determine my color blindness (I liked this test because it also reports the 'level' of your color blindness, weak, moderate, strong).

I came out strong duetan.

Next, I tried the color filter settings in Tarl Cabot's post you quoted and set for duetan.

Last I retook the test listed above and came back as "moderate duetan".

Not a complete fix, but I'm interested in seeing how it works out in game (although my eyes are now stressin', while the difference doesn't "appear" to be significant, now, after about 15 minutes of staring at my screen, my eyes are slightly irritated, probably just need to get used to the new visual).

Still, PGI, come on... Is your interest in only being a C-level game producer, or, do you want to provide the flexibility in your interfaces to ensure that the game is as 'completely accessible' to as many people as possible?

One of the things the 'big' gaming do on most of their titles is provide significant front end customization capabilities on their larger titles.

Ok, I played last night with the filter set to red/green colorblindness, and for the 2.5 hours I played last night, the result so far is a 'mixed bag'. While there were more details to be perceived most of the time, there were circumstances where the targeting reticule and weapon's indicators were even more washed out (I'm thinking Caustic Valley, possibly Tourmaline Desert) and worse the color transition for gauss, where the weapons groups change color to green, was almost impossible to notice. For charging/firing gauss I use both the audio noise and the green indicators to know when the gauss if firable or not. There were a couple times where the green/yellow were so close to the same shade (in previous maps and maybe in Viridian Bog) that I accidentally fired unexpectedly, and inadvertently held too long causing me to have to reload/recycle.

After 2.5 hours my eyes were so stressed it was like I was rubbing sandpaper on them.

The other odd thing (maybe it's odd, I dunno) is that the filtration didn't come through on my twitch stream. No one noticed when I turned it on or off, so I suppose that's a good thing, and the filtration is post vid processing.

I think my eyes are slowly getting used to it though, so far today it's not that bad. I'll try it again tonight if life/work let's me play.
