2 Kills 4 assists, 400+ damage. Not all the time, but often enough that I know the Mech does just fine as is. ;)

is there a mouse in your pocket?

what's your average stats, with it though? KDr, W/L and DMG/ XP per match? Not the occasional match (for me, and I'm not very good, the average "good" matches in an Assault better be over 700 dmg, 3-5 kills, etc).

Considering 400 dmg a good match, is unfortunately not gonna cut it in this lovely Clan Tech era. 400 dmg and 2 kills I'd consider a decent match in my Urbanmech or Panther, not anything heavier.

If the AS7 doesn't "balance" against KGCs and DWFs, then lore or not, it needs work in a FPS game.

totaly agree with bishop here.

3-5 kills + 650-750 damage is "good" for mine in DDC, while 250-350 damage + 2 kills is good in my Urbie detonator.

well there should be a balance and PGI have to sell things. But making atlas obsolete isnt the good way to go.

Obsolete? Before the buffs ecm and its in your face armor played well was amazing.
clan mechs show up and players with less than 500 battles total can't make it compete with a dire wolf...go figure

first, they should separate the clans from the IS...period...except in very specific CW battles.

end. of. problems.

Remember when they quit allowing solo players to drop into pugs with groups?? That was common sense, NOT "balance".
I keep glue close to my computer desk so I can huff into a paper bag, allows me to understand newer players and PGI's version of "common sense"

What about dropping all those random structure quirks and replacing them with blanket structure and armor quirks like the Top Dog got?

How would a 10-12.5% Armor and Structure quirk affect the Atlas?

I wouldn't mind dropping the -D-DC or -S to 7.5-10% depending as well as it is much more viable right now anyway. I can't do the math right now, would that be less structure than is currently granted?

This would also clean up the quirks a little bit in terms of visual appeal

I don't pretend to be a super player, pro or competitive player w/e. I think i'm pretty fine with these stats. All done in the Solo que. It's hard enough already and it used to be higher before the invasion when we had much slower paced gameplay. Gameplay i liked.

It definately needs work. Problem is how can you keep up with a chassis which looks like a 200 ton, has poor pitch/y speed and a very limited angle of the cockpit. It's almost the worst Assault. And now due HSR fixes it tanks like a piece of paper. Biggest target. Arms are fine, the CT/ST i find particulary not. Gets stripped too easily. Trying to adapt, but it takes time. The problem is that we have is 'the bigghest and higest alpha11!!1' mentality. Not to mention these out of control stupid quirks.

It's getting harder and harder to manage and keep up. I have 10 STD 300 laying untouched in my inventory because the pitch/y speed is awfully slow. Back in the days before the invasion this wasn't much of a problem. I have a few Atlai with the 300 equipped but it can barely keep up with others and forget twisting with it. It's manageable but very hard. Twisting with the 300 only works if you keep distance. One Nascar and i get screwed over.

If i can barely keep up anymore, you should look at that new player buying a Atlas full stock! I have seen new players scoring sub par 50 dmg. And very very few about the 100 plus.

325 is still fairly decent. More speed?
Fine, but you have to sacrifice the already low amount of HPs, poor cooling options, lower ammo and critical slots.

http://mwomercs.com/...ost__p__4515588

This new speedy gameplay is getting on my nerves. It's starting to make a curve to Call of Duty. Fast paced gameplay, low TTK and frankly i found after the invasion the game got worse in terms or balance and gameplay.

Running the Atlas is a thing i like. I play it because i like the mech and out of nostalgia and a person trying to make a difference. Sure, it's old tech but it can still deliver a punch. I am playing for teamwork. Teamwork is something i would like to see more as the Atlas is basically a bigger teamplayer.

I have made one guide so far and i planned to make more guides about the Atlas. But i don't waste my time on guides when i see Russ is announcing big balance changes again. Aside from no staff has a real vision on how-to and what's wrong with the Atlas. I am trying to contribute for what's worth. In te meantime i try to help new players and my P.M. box is open for anyone who have just bought one and seeking advice on how to.

Given that the entire damn game is now skewed toward mobility and mechs that ignore physics, and on the premis that the devs hate Assults as is obvious to anyone who has played Assults seriously, a reasonable fix would be to have the acceleration and deceleration curves of all mechs flattened out, and link turning circle to current speed. The faster you're going, the less tight you can turn, and the longer it takes to stop. Having 20-30 tonnes decelerate from 170kph to full stop inside 2 seconds, then reverse direction and accelerate just as fast is stupid. That's drag bike acceleration in a 30 tonne fighting vehicle. Nuts.

You have much higher standards there Bish, cause most matches I see the top damage is 600 or less for the top players in match.

Oh and in my pure Brawler Atlas-S. 157k/161D 0.98 Average 314 damage per match average (Thats a average almost 3 times what Miggy has for his batting average). That would place me in one of the Superstar contracts in just about every sport. And I'd have adoring fans, Spokesman Contracts for Bluefist Cola, GaltorAide, and be a underwear model with an aftershave that smells like my sweat!

I may not be San Francisco Giant's material in my Atlas, But I am no minor leaguer by any stretch! ^_^

I am not a great player, I may not even be a good player. But my scores in an Atlas seem to prove you wrong, Cause at my level of play, It competes just fine! I would think that if I was a better player I'd still be using an Atlas at the top of the game as well. May just be you are not as good in an Atlas as you think you are. OR you think slightly under .500 is a crappy batting average. Its not.

I think a good start might be scaling down quirks on other 'Mechs so 85 tons 'Mech do not have more armor than a Atlas..

Hm, I've fared quite well with my atlas, current KD is 1.68. Wonder how it'll do after the hsr-fix, tho.

Said mechs aren't a problem for an atlas. They aren't even meta. Or anything common.

It's not the mech, but these stupid quirks to begin with. Pilot experience is great and all. But Zeus have litteraly more armor then the Atlas.

If this were baseball you'd have a point..........but this is MW:O and the matchmaker makes an effort to keep you at .500 consistently..........ergo, insofar as this game is concerned, anything below .500 is sub par.

It's what anyone with a basic understanding of how the matchmaker (according to PGI anyway) works..........if the middle ground is winning 50% of your matches (because matchmaker says you should) and you only win 49% then that is below average.......whether you consider it bad or not is immaterial.

Surely someone as intelligent as you can see the difference between an outcome that is programmed into a computer game and two humans standing on a field with one throwing a ball and one swinging a stick. And I'm not being facetious or trying to insult you here Joe, but it really is just basic mathematics.

Atlas and indeed all Assault mechs should be TANKS that is what they were designed to be a moving STRONGPOINT.

Fall back to the ATLAS, LEFT WHEEL off the ATLAS, etc and so forth.

Yes getting pummelled by 2 or 3 mechs is going to hurt a lot, but an assault should be able to survive this for at least 30 seconds in this game (Anyone watched a FS or SPIDER take more killing than an Assault recently, I would say yes)

So here is PGI's Problem, do they.....

A.....BUFF ALL mechs CT armour to the point were TAKING OFF LEGS AND ARMS becomes the thing to do (Making sure the Assault mechs get the biggest buff, be that internal structure or % Quirk on that area (say 10% for Assaults, 5% for Heavies, 3% for Mediums and Nowt for Lights)

B....Reign in the Weapon ALPHA SPAM, that this game seems to promote a lot. If you Build a mech with more lasers/ballistics/lrms/srms than your piss poor computer system can cope with you get........

MINI SHUT DOWN.......mech goes dead for 5 seconds, you have overloaded the computer...not through heat but just processing all those calculations (not my fav way to balance it if I am honest)

YES you can ALPHA, but it CAUSES your WEAPON system to either FRY a RANDOM weapon (ohh hell I have fried my PPC relay that is that weapon offline now till battle ends). This one I like as each weapon can ROLL internally on the AM I GUBBED table and the results are chaotic.

Chain firing stops this from happening as does selecting different weapon groups.

Obv this has to be balance over how many weapons/systems a mech has, but who knows it could make for a more immersive game (where players have to think about which weapons to fire and when.

But the Match maker does not regulate KDr, which is your actual performance in any match. I am just below .500 Win loss (team influenced stat) (I'm on the Blue Jays) but get the job done I average 1 kill in 78%(0.785) of the games I play in, So you can try to measure your success on how well the team does(W/L), or look at how good you do(KDr).

Just throwing my 2 cents here: remove all weapon quirks and give to all the atlases +50% CT and 30% ST armor. Less on the ddc cause ecm
