Lore: 'Mechs designed for different roles, out of different economical circumstances and probably physical necessities (55 ton WVR with 28 ton (4× LPL) right arm anyone??)
CBT: Heat, Damage, movement and targetting etc. need to follow 30 second intervals.
MWO: Realtime movement and aiming, absolutely no economical influences (no missions, barely objectives, most matches end with total destruction of "opposing 12"), no ammo refills nothing.
This can't work well together without major compromises.
An idea:
Slower heat dissipation - not more heat generated, but stronger build-up over time. If a Thunderblitz (3× ER-PPC) would be at 90% heat after the second volley and not be able to cool down until, say, a minute or so, that would give the opponents a chance to close the distance.
Introduce screen shake for ballistic weapons for the shooter as well. Not as strong as for the one that get ****, but still enough to make the aim wander a bit. And don't let people group-fire more than two weapons of the same type.
This would effectively and easily prevent most min-maxing-metas, that kill diversity in mech loadouts.

It would benefit me : p but I dunno if that's really fair.

The fact you're comfortable with comparing Mechwarrior to a magic card game speaks very loudly about the problems we have.
New content can be created and still be balanced. Change and variety can occur and happen while still being balanced. The only times that's not possible is when the game itself is not meant to be balanced.
I for one am dead tired & bored of unbalanced games. There's plenty of those to be found anywhere else throughout the computer world, so why would I bother staying here if MW:O is supposed to be unbalanced?
There's a lot of mindset and ways of thinking that need to change around here, that's for sure.

It's days like this I'm glad the mech I'm best at piloting is an unloved Tier 3 mech

It is a call to action for all Stormcrow / Ryoken owners, on a patch day drop play matches in a "Splat" Crow or some other build that is not negatively effected by quirks.
"YOUR "QUIRKS" AIN'T GOT SCRAP ON ME." Lets show them the "numbers" and "punch holes" in their theories. I doubt they will see the error in their own "theories".
At least it will be some what of a fun way to check it the, "Damn the torpedoes, ramming speed" attitude has set in.

I already asked for refund.
And as a Phoenix owner it makes me think to vote no for the possible phoenix-resale. I´ll vote with my wallet, after I almost bought every pack to keep this game alive.
There are things that make sense. This nerf on the other hand is (sorry) idiotic.

was ghost heat for IS large lasers set back to 2 again?

Nope
Stalker took a little adjustment but nothing major
Timber and Crow took a beat down to the tune of the Stock Timber prime losing 11% dps for the crime of having laser hardpoints.
22% once it runs out of missiles in 9 vollies.

as an IS* pilot, I would welcome Clans getting 15 dmg (one location) C-ERPPCs, BUT increasing the recycle times FROM 4secs to 6 or 6.5 secs AND reducing C-ERPPCs projectile speeds a lil bit too.
While keeping ghost heat on 2 C-ERPPCs.
Now the Warhawk with 4 C-ERPPCs can do true 60 dmg if you can fire 2+2 salvos and make BOTH volleys hit CT.
Even still, with the 6 / 6.5 sec recycle time on C-ERPPCs.
an IS* AWESOME can chain fire the **** outta its PPC/ERPPCs and just about trade back the same amount of DMG!
at the same time, INCREASE IS* PPC/ERPPC ghost heat from 2 to 3(THREE) like they did with LL/ERLL/LPLs from 2 too 3!
I think this change would be sweet. Think of the varies REASONS . . .

The pendulum swinging does not mean unbalancing, but simply switching focus, or meta.
For example, at one time they heavily nerfed counter spelling in mtg. Countering was the meta back then. The nerf didn't mean unbalancing, but switching the meta to something else.
There will always be the top tier mechs and the bad mechs. Now laser Timbers have been nerfed and something else will take their place. The meta has been switched.
The switching is what keeps the game interesting.

setting ghost heat to 2 again for IS large lasers would fix so many more things than mech-wise nerfs....
but might be too easy to do lol.

SSR6 Streakcrows still a thing? Yeah? Can one-shot any Light in the game? Can brawl with any IS Assault in the game? The only mech with hitboxes more broken than a Firestarter?
Awesome.
