MercStar was axed this evening. All pilots were brutally decimated by unknown strike teams.

There will be no more MercStar planetary assaults across the Inner Sphere.

We will never see MercStar again in any capacity.

Wait a second, was this legit?

Lies, rumors, and propaganda hearsay! This is a "rumors only thread!"

No, seriously, MercStar did go through some significant restructuring. It is now under new leadership, but far from dead. To help determine who was still around, all players were removed from MercStar, and some leadership retired.

Remaining leadership and players are now being reconsolidated into a new unit which is now "MercStar-Splinter Cell" [MSSC].

The Teamspeak address remains the same: ts.mercstar.net:8344

We will likely go back to the original website rather than the Enjin system.

Xavier is now the commander of MercStar-Splinter Cell.

All membership still interested in remaining part of the unit are encouraged to log into the Teamspeak and contact Xavier.

Or, if you can't do that, contact me, PM me, and I'll pass your name to Xavier to make sure we get you back in. My Steam address is in my signature.

We are not taking contracts in Faction Warfare YET until we see how Phase 4.1 will affect us.

Removing inactive players also helps us save on recruiting costs.

We are very much alive, and we will continue to remain active in Community Warfare. As more and more people come back or show interest in MercStar, the unit will continue to expand its reach, much as it did before. We have invested too much to simply disappear.

Don't worry, people. We're still here. All units go through major changes over time, and MercStar is no different.

Ah. Great! Glad to hear you guys are still around.

I tease. MS filled a lot of matches for FW and introduced a lot of players to it. A restructure was inevitable, at this point MS had more players at peak (active or otherwise) than Fw currently supports in total.

Correct. As time went on, people got bored of the game. Alot of people got turned off when Phase 3 hit. Ultimately, MercStar had over 300 people on the roster, but a consistent maybe 20-30 people on. Some people played other games too rather than MWO while still being in the Teamspeak.

Either way, there is an idea of rebranding us as the "Mercenary Star Gaming Alliance" [MEGA], which allows for gamers across multiple games to come together onto our Teamspeak to play with us, since alot of us play Mechwarrior Online, as well as a host of other games, like ARK, Heroes & Generals, Grand Theft Auto 5, and a number of other titles, including Living Legends and Mechwarrior 4.

So we've got alot of options open! And I'm excited to see where this new chapter takes us!

...come on! You really think we'd just walk off into the sunset after everything we've accomplished? :P

Large gaming guilds are important to keep a population trickle. Someone may join to play ARK and switch to MWO later. Someone may leave MWO but play with the same guys in 7DTD and xome back when he hears something cool.

All due props. Then again flexability and efficiency was always the MS trademark.

That and being faithless mercenary wh0res.

Antonius Rex stopped playing, then decided since he didn't want to play he would take his ball and go home, kicking all active players out of MS... Taking almost 600 million of team funds with him, and another 56 mill in MS-R funds.

True Story, not a rumor.

Well, crap, I didn't know that...

Hell, I thought that kind of crap only happened in EVE Online!

Ah, well. We'll earn it all back.

So, the rumor is that MS is faking it's own death and assuming a new identity in order to lull PUG's into a false sense of security as Phase 4.1 launches. This way they can collect even more c-bills, planet mc and PUG tears in phase 4.1 than in phase 3

Wait...maybe that's not a rumor...

He blew up the merc star...because he could, I guess. Who knows with these evil emperor types...

But no matter, Rumor is Xavier didn't like the interior and was gonna remodel anyway... Think more Borg cube style.

Well, one thing I know of for a fact is that MercStar intends to build the PugDeathStar 2.0 bigger and better than ever. It however will require a massive loan from ComStar and the MRBC combined which will defund the Inner Sphere, driving all opposition from Community Warfare instantly.

Nevertheless, it will feature salmon-delivering dropships, tear-harvesting solar panels to power massive ego-fueled generators, and an interior designed by Russ Bullock himself.

Sigh... see? This is why we kept telling people to update their hacks on time!

"But habu, what difference does it make if i'm running headshot.exe version 2.3.5.9 and not 2.3.6.0?"

As it turns out, all the difference in the world!

See where that lazy, self-contented attitude has brought us? Even the founding members and unit leaders weren't l33t enough to be in the OG MS anymore.

This is why we can't have nice things.

Or so I hear Posted Image

Rumor has it for a unit that is dead a whole bunch of players where on TS last night and dropping in 12 man formation on quick play.

Rumor has it haters will hate and make up rumors or slants on why MS imploded without even asking Tony why.

I heard it was because Mercstar secret analytics did careful projections of the new ED and skill tree systems and FW 4.1 release will actually balance MWO, leaving Mercstar nothing to exploit.

Heard a rumor that MS had hired Bernie Madoff to do their unit coffer management.

So much for MS being "too big to fail".
