I worked in a game publishing company for 10 years. A man banned for botting actually brought his 5 year old daughter to the office in order to explain that she was botting the account and not him.

Yeah, I can coach my kids too. Doesn't mean it's right.... :D

In recognition of PGI's efforts to curb cheating, I just bought Wave 3 Gladiator and Resistance 2 Mauler packages. I now own the top tier of every package offered plus Saber/Sarah/Urbanmech as well as every Hero.

Now, can anyone suggest a good wireless headset? My Logitech g930 is a PoS.... :D

EDIT: I do not own any Golds though.

I've never cheated in an online game in my life, but i always gets anxious when i hear about stuff like this.

Playing a game to actually not playing it. Some people are so weird and driven by the most idiotic things that a normal humans mind can actually not get it.

Guess no one will miss them aside a few hackerbuddies.

Daughters and sons, even well-behaved ones, shouldn't have the rights necessary to install cheats on their fathers' computer.

For the sake of arguement, let's just say he's being honest, that his daughter did it on her account. If she is a minor, or he used his credit card on her account to get her stuff, that makes it his ALT account, not hers. So he can be telling the 100% truth, and still be banned, and it still be completely within the rules set down by PGI and justified.

Edit: Needed to fix the picture link....DOH!!!

Some fathers, yes. I had thought this community to be a bit more tech savvy than most though.

This is the most I have ever spent on an online game, it's a credit to my passion for Battletech/Mechwarrior. I've never spent this much before and I doubt I will ever spend it again.

EDIT: Also, LMAO!!! Love the pic!

if you can install a cheat you can get the admin rights on a pc... it's not hard, at least for windows, you just need a repair disk like those i.t. guys use, even me can do it

It's more than just security on your PC. I use the "fear of God" method to great success in preventing my kids from doing stuff they know they shouldn't. I also educate them on what it is, does, and the consequences thereof too.

My 5 year old hacked minecraft; don't underestimate their Youtube watching.

The minute I found out, wiped HD and reinstalled OS; and limited their access to things.

Yep - Youtube is amazing for that type of thing. My nine year old has learnt P/Shop and making movies just by watching such videos.

Still, will 6 year olds know how to use Credit cards?...

I wouldn't put it past them; although, my oldest figured it out at 8.

Luckily he only charged a total of 20ish dollars until I caught him.

I put spyware on his computer without him knowin it and I get a little window on my work computer that shows me everything he does; albiet, I wasn't watching at the time, but I noticed he had been playing with something new that I never saw before.

So, I checked the email he used for the account and there were the receipts.

I asked him how he charged it, and he said he used my credit card from my wallet; used the links that show you how to find the little number on the back of the card, and he knew our address and my name is on the card.

He put two and two together, and now he is 20 something dollars poorer and grounded from the PC.

His login to the PC using some group policy, and other security rights, has limited him severly now.

Kids are like the NSA; ever watching, ever storing information, and waiting for opportunities to do adult things.

Amazingly enough, this community is not very tech savvy overall, go figure. Many BTech players aren't computer friendly, and many online gamers don't actually know anything about technology or computers. I personally blame Bill Gates and Steve Jobs, their OS's allowed the masses to use a computer without knowing what the hell they were doing. When MW2 came out, you actually had to KNOW how to use a computer to install the game and run it, and getting online wasn't something you just hit a button and it happened, it took know how and tech savvy. MW4 came out, you put the little frisbee thing in the coffee cup holder thing and you could play, that easy!

Anyone who lets their child get on their computer without supervision is an idiot, straight up. My kids were allowed to get on my computer all they wanted, I bought them their own games to play, or they could play mine, but either myself or their mom/stepmom was right there at their side the entire time they were on the computer, online OR offline, it didn't matter. Spent many hours watching my kids play games, do homework, look up stuff for school projects or just explore the internet or chat with people, and I don't regret any of that time because I know my kids didn't do anything they shouldn't or get exposed to things I didn't want them exposed to. My daughter's favorite book when she was 9 was Carrie, so I wasn't exactly keeping them from everything not G rated, I just made sure they didn't get to porn sites or talked to predators, who existed 20 years ago online just as they do today. I knew it because I helped various law agencies catch such wastes of space, probably the best things I've ever done with a computer.

So someone blaming their kid...total bs. They failed as a human being and as a parent. Far as I'm concerned, being a parent and grandparent, they are a waste space like the predators I helped get busted, using kids as tools for their own gratification.
