I will start running my Atlas again, when I have this much firepower. It's time for the Atlas to get the big buff!! give it more armor or something

This video clearly shows a comparison between the dire wolf and the Atlas when it comes to firepower.

I don't think the Atlas really needs any more help.

I agree 10,000% with the OP. I've said this many times: make the Atlas what it was always supposed to be, not the most powerful, but by FAR the hardest to kill.

I don't think any of the Atlases need weapons quirks. What they need is:

CT: +15 IS points, +15% armour.
LT: +20 IS points, +15% armour.
RT: +20 IS points, +15% armour.

Arms: +15% armour.

Head: +15% armour (the Atlas doesn't have a traditional cockpit, more like a tiny view port out of that hugely armoured head).

Legs: As they are now.

Yes the Atlas does need help. It does not have its fear inducing factor any more. No where near the kind of tank it should have. A firestarter can mess up a atlas. As it is the Atlas really could do with a buff mainly in armor quirks.

The Atlas is fairly good now, but it lacks that 'Oh ****!' factor that it is supposed to have when you run into it.

In the lore, that was what the mech was primarily made to do: strike fear in its opponents. In this game, it just doesn't do that. It's just an average assault mech.

I agree on structure quirks. And if you could raise your arms up and down.

nah, they need to rework convergence so it degrades with heat, which will make the atlas live a LOT longer and reduce getting it's ballistic slots cut off early. it's got plenty of armor, but people aren't supposed to be able to pinpoint it all off one spot at a time like that. the atlas doesn't often run very hot and has a huge stock of armor, make convergance impose a penalty on redline fighting and suddenly people will not want to tangle with a 100-ton AC-20s you in the butt every time your heat scale pulls you down battlemech.

Just significant armour buffs are needed. The ability to absorb damage will be its fear factor.

The Atlas has three major disadvantages:

1. Quickly recognizable gait and silhouette

2. No boating ability except at short range

3. Playing against twelve mechs

The first is fine and nothing should be done about it. The second necessitates stronger quirks in the direction of its lore strength (i.e. durability). The third pretty much makes the second impossible.

They need to make it taller too! Seems rather stocky to be intimidating.

While I don't think it needs any more help, it most certainly doesn't need to get any bigger. ;)

It certainly needs an increased twist pitch and yaw, bare minimum.

And if possible, hardpoint quantity normalised to the 7S?

The Atlas is very far from being an intimidating assault mech. The hardpoints are varied - which means you get less value out of cooldown and range modules since you burn two modules per weapon type - and they are much too low to be competitive. In an Atlas, terrain is as much your enemy as mechs, as often as not you willl fire into the ground and get stuck on pebbles that you cant lean forward enough to see.

Suggestion:
1. For the Atlas (and mechs with all actuators) - let the mech armlock with the arms shoulder high.
2. Slightly raise the RT/LT/CT mounts. Looking at the model you could easily slightly raise both ballistics, the CT as well as at least 1 missile mount.
3. Increase the missile tubes. It is patently ridiculous that the biggest mech in the game cant fire 20 missiles at a time when even LIGHT MECHS CAN.
4. Either ditch the weapon modules from the game, or re-work them so that bonuses are divided amongst all the weapons on the same type. A single module boosting a dozen weapons is insanely better than boosting just 1 or 2 and actively encourages boating.
5. Same goes for weapon quirks - please stop boosting mechs that can boat weapons as much as mechs that have only a couple of weapons of that type.

haven't played in a while, but an Atlas S was more than a match for any mech in brawling range. Area of Denial weapon system

Put the quirks on the CTF 0X on the AS7s, all that bonus armor and structure.

In addition to the above:

4. Horribly low slung weapon hard points on the arms.

5. A low mounted gun rack.

6. Low mounted centre torso energy hard point (on the D variant)

7. Horrible hill climbing characteristics.

8. A very small number of hard points for the tonnage.

I took my Atlas D for a spin during the founders event. Getting 5-700 damage was perfectly possible but compared to more recent assault mechs it was very much hard mode. I was shocked at how far the power creep has come since the venerable old Atlas made it début.

Those claiming the Atlas doesn't need any buffs - go play something like the Banshee pulse laser build, the Stalker 4N or the Direwolf 3 x UAC5 + 2 x UAC-10 builds. You'll feel sorry, literally sorry, for any Atlas pilot you face, no matter how good they are at torso twisting. The Atlas has been left badly behind in terms of effectiveness and hence needs a buff.
