Well, LRM/arty type weapons tend to polarize peoples opinions and reactions, so don't expect a lot of intelligent discussion on these threads.
People also tend to throw in all their 'bad player in poorly designed mech' or 'I am good player I don't need to be told' comments on these.
Bad players are bad for the team whether they are in LRM mechs, PPC mechs, laser mechs they can't hit with, whatever.
Myself I rarely play LRM mechs - as people say, they are inefficient weapons overall. That being said, I have to level 3 of each chassis: if one of those 3 happens to have 4 or more missile hardpoints and isn't an SRM-assassin, it's likely I'm going to run an LRM build on it. (Or if it has LRM quirks.) Plus it mixes up the play style.
If I find myself going into battle in one of those LRM mechs, I *do* say "hold locks if you can, please". Because that tells anyone with Tag or Narc or Active Probe they can get a little more use out of those systems; it lets the team know I am probably not a front line mech; and it reminds people to hit that R key and keep it on
if they can.
In every match I spectate, there are still people who a) rarely lock their target or, b ) tab through targets repeatedly for no apparent reason I can see (though they may have their own reason, of course).
I'm not telling you how to play. I'm not looking to be carried. I'm not asking you to risk yourself. I'm giving you useful information phrased as a polite request. If you have trouble with that, that's your problem, not mine.
