EDIT: Ah, let me clarify. The machine running server 2008 is completely separate. I was saying if the Ubuntu server dies, I don't have room for another instance on my virtual server.
Stream compatibility doesn't change between server types, it's all .ogg format. Anything that can decode ogg can be used as a client.
