Will definitly try this one in taka-taka-taka-tactic. Good for supporting something like energy-weaponed mechs.

That's because the thing on the picture is experimental Jagemech III.

EDIT: Ok, it's not. The thing on the picture doesn't exist though so it may be some failed prototype, as there is no Jagermech with 4 ML and 2 LL.

Buuuuut, I want quad Ultra AC5's though.
I love the look, very Rifleman-esque!

Thank you! Guess I'll go and get me one. Guns high up, nice for the "hull down" ambushes

The Bad: This mech has the same amount of armor as a 30 ton Valkyrie. Less armor than the JR7-F Jenner already in the game.
The Ugly: Certain mech designs can alpha and scoot behind cover and do some serious damage: take the Catapult K2 for example. Twin PPC's fire downrange, then you move back behind cover, so the mech is only exposed to fire from the other team for a few seconds at a time. As long as you have narc beacons or another mech providing line of sight, a C1 Catapult could do much the same thing.
However, some mech designs are like fire hoses: you need to get LoS to your target, and keep it for sustained bursts to do any damage at all. Under tabletop rules, the Jagermech is one of these mechs. To do damage to the opponent, you need to expose yourself to enemy fire for longer windows than other mechs. Doing that with tissue paper armor creates a pretty large flaw in the design.
This mech was considered "The curse of the Davions" in my BT group, because it was the price one paid to wear the "white hats" of the battletech universe for an afternoon. I wonder how this machine will be implemented to make it useful against anything other than harsh language.

Look at your same link. Originally call McGee's. And Sarna is sketchy on when they became Simonson. In the unit time line it says as of 3040 they were still McGee, but the text references an upheaval of the unit during the 4th Succession War when Simonson takes over.
Any who, still love the Cutthroats.

EDIT: Made changes to Sarna references.

Nice work again from the designers, every mech they do is a real piece of original art

I do laud the team for bringing iconic and less sought after units to light in the game. Should lead to some fun times!

EDIT: Made changes to Sarna references.
From page 100 of Field Manual: Mercenaries, Revised (viewable here as the 110th page of the e-document):
Quote
Additionally, Historical: War of 3039 (the cited source in the quoted Sarna reference to a McGee's Cutthroats in 3040; viewable here) refers to Simonson's Cutthroats in reference to the FedSuns' attack on planet Lima in March of 3039 on page 49.
Moreover, page 141 of Historical: War of 3039 lists both McGee's Cutthroats and Simonson's Cutthroats on the Deployment Table.
In fact, that page of the Deployment Table is the only reference to "McGee" in the whole document, while there are six separate references to "Simonson" (and a total of nine references to "Cutthroat", including one to a wholly separate unit, Clinton's Cutthroats).
So, it looks like the transition from "McGee's Cutthroats" to "Simonson's Cutthroats" occurred in (or around) 3028.

JagerMech JM6-S - crappy old 2xac5, 2xac2, 2ml
JagerMech JM6-A - missle boat config, 2x15LRM, 2xac5, 2ml
JagerMech JM6-DD - could be ok, 2xUAC5, 2xAC2, 2MPL, FF+XL engine
But yeah direct competator for the Dragon and Catapult in the weight class. AC2 is always a throw away weapon unless PGI can work some magic on it.
