I still say that slightly longer charge time, slightly lower projectile velocity, (and?/)or significantly increased explosion damage (when destroyed) would be appropriate while still making the weapon quite lethal and still fairly lightweight compared to its IS counterpart.

I'd go the other direction.
  • Reduce IS Charge up slightly (from 0.75 down to 0.5)
  • Increase IS Gauss health (from 5, up to 10 "it's bulkier and sturdier")
  • Increase critical resistance (not sure if this even exists as a stat, but "bulkier and sturdier" use this to make up for lack of free C.A.S.E. and also because C.A.S.E. is useless with XL)

Is that worth 3 tons? No, but it's a start.

Implement that, then wait a bit and then if necessary reduce recharge time a touch, address some other attributes, etc.

The goal would be to go broad, and apply multiple small improvements - as opposed to a few huge buffs.

I propose to remove IS Gauss charge up completely but rise its cooldown to more than 6 secs. Just to make them different and not to "balance them".

so, remove the charge up, but lower the DPS massively (by making it a minimum 1.25 seconds slower) than the C-Gauss..... yeah that sounds like a great tradeoff for 3 more tons......

People always say that: DPS doesn't matter on Gauss because it's not a "DPS" weapon. But some people are still opposed to the idea (in my thread about this proposal) because they think it will make the isGauss too OP even with the DPS nerf. Personally, I can live with the DPS nerf because the advantage is still considerable for those like Victor, HGN, or Atlas which uses their single Gauss also for close ranged combat.

I guess I just want the two to feel different like their AC sisters.

i don't even get these gauss threads
if they want to nerf clan gauss/buff is gauss they should give clan mechs more options to even mount that gauss at all, they are limited by engines, upgrades and fixed stuff right now

You can mount a Gauss on Clan 'Mechs, even on Lights (Gauss+2ERML Adder). Or do you mean that you want to mount 2 at the same time?

Speaking about fixed engines, do you prefer a smaller one thus be able to mount more equipment at the cost of going slower?

I will be honest the clan endo ferro engine swap issues have never been an issue for me because I don buy crap mechs. Gauss plus 3 tons of super sweet ermlas is incredible. If all IS mechs had quirks like the GI maybe we could have a discussion on balance for the weapon. The gauss for the clan is a very superior weapon and if it is because of lore could we all just agree on that and move towards AI controlled IS mechs.

some builds need a smaller one others need a bigger one
is can choose, clans cannot

Not everything has to be the same don't you think? Is the ability to mount dual Gauss paramount?

Clan Omnis may not have the ability to clear more space but they can mix and match hardpoints to suit the pilot's need.

Why do people keep making threads to buff clans? Or is? TTK is short enough as it is. Maybe rather get different flavor like new weapons or flamers that actually do something.

If something Clan seems OP, congratulations, you should stop playing in the shiitty IS chassis and pick a good one such as a Stalker or Thunderbolt like any sane person would do.

I'd take the extra 1.25 seconds charge up as a clanner I hate the friggin charge mechanic. I hated it since the stupid MW4 BOMBAST laser.

so...wouldn't it make sense for the lighter, smaller weapon to be slower?

And DPS always matters. Yes, it's 15 ppfld, but 15 every 5 seconds, vs every 10, what's better? (obviously this is no tas extreme, that's for simple comparo).

Big thing is, clans are supposed to be all about dueling. I would say a reduction in range or velocity, making it a closer range weapon, would be more clan philosophy.

Of course, most clan players, seem to be rather against actually playing by clan philosophy, so probably not gonna work, lol.

Well, yes the weapon itself is stronger, but many Clanmechs come with unecessary locked equip. As already mentioned, the WH, it can literally not make ballistic loadouts without having wasted laods of tonnage in unnecessary DHS
Further, Engines are locked, and so many Clanmechs have also less slots available by not being able to put further Heatsinks into the engines. Thats why their heatsinks use less slots and ES/FF (if they even have those upgrades).

And since MWO does not have BV's we got quirks to help bad mechs, because there are even clanemchs bad because their locked equipments is bad

Never argue on clan vs IS base, since this is nonsense, every mech has to be judged individually. Especially on clanlevel, since they are more restricted than IS mechs, which are more customizeable at all.

Did you miss the Battlevalue balancing rules for TT?

which battlevalue would a fully pimped Spider as people use it in MWO have compared to the usual Clanlights they use?

Do not forget, in MWO al IS mechs are totally pimped and not even any close to their TT BV and loadouts anymore..

The Clan Gauss Rifle weighs 3 tons less than the IS version. What are the balancing factors used to compensate for this?

Does it have a slower charge-up time? No.
Does it have a slower recycle time? No.
Shorter range? Less damage? No. No.
Does it take up more slots? No, opposite, it takes up fewer slots.
Does it explode more easily? No; in fact Clanners get 0-tonnage CASE on every arm and torso section to boot.
Does it cause more internal damage when it explodes? No.

Does it do anything at all that balances the 3 fewer tons and 1 fewer slot? No.

When can we expect a change to this situation?

(This is not an IS player whining, this is a video gamer scratching his head in wonder)

STFU and go play something else if you are going to complain about basic things that will never, ever, ever, EVER be changed...

That is what I do when balance pisses me off...complaining does nothing because nobody else cares.

Clans not OP

IS not OP

Weapons not OP

Pilots are OP or UP...end of discussion.

Clan machine guns are flat out better than I.S. machine guns. Conversely the I.S. Large pulse laser has a shorter duration than the clan SMALL pulse laser. Just let it go, this &%#$ isn't worth worrying about anymore.

.

Funny but smurphy has the stats on the MGs the exact same. Try again.

And yes all IS lasers are superior to clan lasers due to COOLER and shorter COOLDOWNS (meaning even with less damage) they come out ahead in a Brawl.

Yeah, I feel so limited.

With Gauss on a Stormcow, and Gauss on a Hellbringer, Gauss on 3 Ebon Jaguars, Gauss on a Summoner, Gauss on 2 Timber Wolves, Gauss on one Gargoyle, Gauss on 2 Warhawks, Gauss on 1 Executioner and Gauss on 3 Dire Wolves.

These limitations, so frustrating.

I mean yeah, I will have Gauss on a Shadowcat, but on my Ice Ferret? Nope. On my Kit Fox, Adder or Arctic Cheetah? NOPE! Don't even get me started on not being able to put a Gauss on my Mist Lynx!

Because as it sits now, we are basically on equal footing...if you keep eroding things...eventually...you will just lose the clan player base because nerf, nerf, nerf, nerf, nerf, nerf, nerf, nerf, nerf...gets really ***** old, really fast.

Add in that we are already running mobile furnaces, we have no builds that are not Alpha boats (not worth running anyway)...clans are getting tired of people begging for pretty close balance to be tipped completely to the IS side. Notice how CW is just packed full of players right? Keep nerfing things...see what that does for you. Continually demoralizing half your player base always worked out well for every game company that tried it in the past...if you can find a company that survived doing that...ask them if they would do it differently on a second chance.
