What's going to happen is that CGL is about to find themselves infested with a thousand bloody-fanged lawyers, wielding the dread blades Cease and the sorrowful blades Desist, all seeking to carve this bold initiative into ruin.

What that means is that CGL seems to be gearing up to finally have that legal battle that somebody has needed to have with Harmony Gold(iggers) for ages now, and we might finally see the breaking of the deadlock. After all, if CGL wins the inevitable court case on this one, then any MWO reworks - or any anyone-else's reworks - can simply be based off CGL's new designs, not infringing on HG's bleak and endarkened copyrights, jealously guarded long past the point where they caused ought but harm.

If CGL loses, of course, then we can basically wave good-bye to the Unseen forever.

Do whatever you guys can to back CGL on this. Hell, someone point to the link to download this stuff - I don't TT but I may as well add to their userbase list. The more the beta gets distributed, the more cat winds up out of the bag, and the harder it'll be for Harmony Gold to put a lid on it.

I think Alex did fine with his Battlemaster, but it just isn't the Battlemaster. And I seriously doubt CGL would have moved forward with this if they didn't have a leg to stand on. I also doubt they all just lost their marbles and decided litigation sounds like a great way to pass the time. Either they negotiated some deal or found a loophole.

I looked at those pictures and now I feel all funny in my no-no places!

I'm headed to GenCon next week, so it looks like I may have to bail on one of my early events and head directly for the CGL booth to get one of those beta books! I'll keep an eye out in case they have a jar for the 'HG-sues-anything-that-moves defense fund' and drop some bills in there as well.

PGI... I believe you have your orders. If you have not already started on them, you are hereby directed to begin design on the Warhammer, Maruader, Phoenix Hawk, and Crusader in double time!

I hope to see these in MWO sooner than later.

I suspect that the newly reseen have already been cleared by legal teams on all sides. CGL most assuredly does not want a repeat of the Project Phoenix issues, or the issues surrounding the original MWO trailer. So, for this reason, I've no doubt a great many IP lawyers have earned excitingly fast new automobiles.

Also, the licensing of the Robotech rights to Sony may be a sign of weakening resolve on the part of HG. (That, or Sony just threw a bucket load of money at them.)

Catalyst will almost certainly look at licensing the designs to MS/PGI, but it will not work the other way around. CGL has categorically stated that they will never(again) use designs that they do not own outright.
