Well...sh*t. Just when I thought I'd seen the last of this years stompy robot expenditures with Origins IIC. I don't know what's worse - knowing this is coming and having no information on it, or knowing that when that information arrives I'm going to be poor(er) again. Better stock up on soft loo roll and instant coffee while I have the funds

Well I didn't go that route, I went With being a Toolmaker/Machining specialist.

Form an alliance with Ford IT staff. They will provide the "important information and access" to websites you *need* and if need be you can fabricate the weaponry for the take over. Then you can start mass producing Battlemechs instead of cars. :D

Will have to give it a wait and see as I was not able to finish either of the first 2 Shadowrun games due to lack of interest. Also, if they are using assets from MW:T, while understandable, reeks of bad mojo.

I am pretty sure they are using MWO's assets rather than the ugly MWT's ones.

I don't know... Weisman IS BattleTech. He has created 2 Game (CBT and HeroClix/ClickyTech)... I fell in love with his original concept. I might have to abandon ship if he hits a hat trick

Really waiting for this since.... crescent hawk?
Megamek is good but is also annoying if u want to put together a scenario or campaign from booklets.
My dream is always been to play in the pc those awesome scenarios and campaign I used to play in TT with my friends.
Sooooo good time!

Joe, if there will be a hat trick (level 3 rules, solo-multiplayer, scenarios-campaign from official FASA books), let's see us.... in paradise!

Indeed, but what we didn't know is that their first push into Battlemech design was started in the early 21st century after a mostly bloodless take over by an employee by the name of Joseph Mallan. ;)

If this becomes megamek with 3d models, an easy-to-use GUI and fully customizable user created scenarios and campaigns (think starcraft map editor expanded to cover multiple games with RPG elements), I will dump boku dollars on it. If they add a Mechwarrior RPG mode as well, then I will finally have everything I've ever wanted with battletech (not talking PC mechwarrior shooter games - I consider those to be a separate entity).

If this ends up being anything like a modernized Crescent Hawks I am not going to have a life again.

Man, if this ended up even remotely like Crescent Hawks Inception, or Revenge (but particularly Inception), I would... i don't even know. I can't even express how extremely happy that would make me.

The Crescent Hawks Battletech games where huge for me, back in the day. I played the ever living crap out of them, and they are what really got me into Battletech and Mechwarrior.

Somehow I'm not jumping happily..
I remember crystal clear when Jordan Weisman talked about MW reboot several years ago, and what came out of it - something totally different, and without Weisman on board from day one.

Next thing that comes to mind is MechWarrior Tactics. It promised to bring classic BT to PC, but ended up being a total cripple of the game mechanics, and featured awfully disfigured mech designs.
I'd pick MegaMek over MW Tactics any time, it's hundred times better and richer game-wise, tactic-wise and in terms of IP loyalty.

Also, MWO taught me not to pay in advance for anything.

So, even though I'm a big fan of BT and BT TT, and am grateful to mr. Weisman for them, I'm pretty sure I am not going to back this new project on Kickstarter, but if the game will be good when it's done, I will surely buy it then. Not earlier.

PS
Seriously, all they need is to make an easily accessible MegaMek with a good interface (Don't Let PGI Make Any User Interfaces!) and good graphics. Trying changing the game itself would be their downfall.

While I hope this turns out to be the mech commander game everyone wants. Why couldn't Jordan do MW5? Too small a studio? Not enough money? If he and Mitch with their experience with the IP and history at Fasa were to pitch a MW5 to kickstarter they just might surpass SC in funding. The difference being I think Jordan and company would actually deliver on a game.

MegaMek sets a pretty high bar for features; having repair, rearm, full salvage, pilot management. Then there's the gameplay aspects that include DFAs, charging, Melee, smoke and creating fires.

If this manages to get that level of detail, it would be very impressive. The above, along with 3d models and animations, would be quite the feat, and a pretty damn fun game.

Megamek isn't the most stable thing, so I'd probably put some money towards the Kickstarter...once they pitch their scale and vision.

I just hope it won't be another MWT. It had the shooting and moving...but almost nothing else. No repair, no management, no DFA or melee. Just an empty game.
