What you're describing is rock solid focus fire, and when you have all 12 mechs on a side targeting individual mechs 1 by 1, they melt easier than butter, and there's really nothing that can be done about it. It's just math.
12 x 50dmg (average pinpoint alpha) = 600dmg
No amount of armor doubling or convergence tweaks will stop the effectiveness of focus fire. You could lose half of each player's alpha to imperfect convergence and still end up with 300dmg being focused onto a single target and location from a full team.
48-0 games are very possible when one side is spreading damage across 12 mechs while the other side is focusing damage on 1 mech every 2-3 seconds. Repeat it 4 times and the end result is you have 48 dead mechs on one side, while the other side has their original 12, moderately battered mechs.
Doesn't mean there aren't still cheaters in the game. For the most part, none of the people who have been caught cheating were known to be high level players (with the exception of 1).
It's the issue with having a low player base in such a complicated game. You end up with incredibly high skill gaps.
