Yeah, ridiculous. And lights already being the most least used weight class in the game. Reading the forums they should be invincible killing machines with OP weapons and lag shields that dodge everything while just running in front of enemy team. And yet the light queue is often at 10%...

Simple. Paint them annoying colours, put on an annoying warhorn, run around assaults and slaughter them. Much like now, only it'll take more effort to avoid fire.
It's a light. Unless PGI give it massive negative quirks, it's still going to end up on the good end of the lightscales. ECM, JJ's and lots of E points pretty much guarantee that.

The same kind that people raged about with the Timberwolves and Stormcrows.
So a slight nerf to energy weapon that will eventually be reverted? The light queue went from 7% to 20% with the ACH, that 13% of pilots dont belong in the light queue so they won't be going away to the FS9, they will be going back to the TBR and SCR. Ive never seen a game where something op getting taken away from unsuspecting kids without a meltdown so carry on, bath in the tears and enjoy the salt.

Well I'll be going back to the FS9.
Also, there will be a meltdown and it will be glorious.

My smplas firestater has a higher kdr than the mplas, but the win loss is lower because I pay a cost whenever I have to engage to do damage and the team is a million miles away. The extended range lets them be far enough away to bridge the gap between them and their team more effectively and do more damage effectively. Pulse lasers also still register more effectively than standard hit scan. The clan weapons are hotter technically but the range, weight and damage bonus outweighs the heat.
I have found that the clan UACs and CAP modules make them tend to run away and look for other targets, and I do not have to have streak boat specific build. The IS alpha to speed ratio tends to work out in a way that enough firepower means to slow to turn or disengage or to much time between shots. Of course Firestarters and Thunderbolts and some other builds do a lot better.
I think removing the leg quirks would be a good place for a wait and see. I am also fine with PGI making some cash and waiting until the cbill release while they "gather data".
