Yes, I do know how bad many folks are with lasers while I watch spray everything but the legs. I also know that with this build I am able to leg any other light with 1-2 alphas. (yes I am well aware of the pay back is hell the Stormcrow is suffering, fight cheese with cheese etc etc)
But the cheetah feels like fighting the hitboxes of a spider with the punch of the splas firestarter and the range of the mplas firestarter. Removing the quirks is not a "nerf" it is a good balance.

The Mist Lynx actually had its quirked toned down during the "iterative quirk pass" a few months back. Yes, you're reading that right, the Mist Lynx got nerfed. That's not a typo, it's a real thing that happened.
I feel like, given that state of affairs, the least they can do is tone down the ACH a bit.

And yes, a nerf is sorely needed.

1. An arctic cheetah with full armor has 8 tons of empty pod space.
2. ECM weighs 1 ton, that's 1/8th of available tonnage.
3. ECM is thus 12.5% of total available space.
4. That's the ACH ECM malus, 12.5% less available tonnage for weapons / equipment.
On a broader scale.
1. A firestarter with max engine and armor has around 10 tons of available space.
2. 10 tons compared to the ACH's available 7 tons with ECM, that's near to a 50% advantage.
3. The arctic cheetah has ECM, and the firestarter has near to a 50% advantage in available tonnage. That makes them extremely close to being balanced.
Really?! Because ton for ton IS and Clan equipment.... C'mon you gotta be trollin.

So have i and it wasn't OP against good players. Worked wonders against bads and sprayers though. Couldn't just wash lasers all over and around my mech and pray that it got an ST like with IS lights.
Can count on one hand how many times i had issues with Cheethas while levelling Panthers as well. And surprise surprise the ones that caused me issues were being piloted by good players that i recognised.

If it still overperforms, then smack it again- else buff the other lights to compensate. It makes no sense whatsoever to have twelve different types of light 'Mechs in the game when only two of them are regarded as competitive... and apart from a few people who are either in denial or lying through their teeth to defend their favorite toy, it's pretty clear which one needs to be taken down a peg to give the rest a chance to play on reasonably even terms.

Nothing is. A good player can get a good score in most Mechs. But balance relates to all players, not just the good ones.
Cheetah's hitboxes are broken. That's the main issue. I benefit from it when I'm piloting one, and I suffer from it when I'm trying to kill one.
The game will be better for everyone once Cheetah is less invulnerable.

It's a fair cop really. I'd still happily use it even if ALL the quirks were stripped off completely.
If I compare it to my old faithful Ember that robot did pretty well with pretty minimal perks so.... eh. I can't see a nerf being a bad thing.
I'm still going to laugh to butthurt heavies & assaults who die to lights though. If I can get a positive K/D ratio in my urbie then you can bet I'm still going to do well in my ECM ACH.
Oh - any amount of nerfs won't change the fact that if a light 1v1s you and you're driving a heavy you are probably a Bad Pilot. I used to eat them up in my wub-wub grasshopper so you know, do better. Or run them down in a Cauldron Born while you're pumping 50 damage into their backs every few seconds. It's not rocket science.

It's already been proven not to have broken hitboxes.

Cut off its bal... Uhh, quirks. All of them.
Firestarter too, while you're at it. (Give it some Flamer quirks, instead )

^ Just remove all quirks from the game, problem solved.

While i agree they werent needed, removing them is all that is needed.
Id also suggest keeping the heat gen quirks but moving them all to the C LT so you actually have a choice to make - ECM or heat efficiency.

So new guys, 'bad players' and average joes are not allowed to have a balanced gameplay? Those 'scrubs' can do more or less fine on their own tier, unless when they meet another 'scrub', only in ACH, and then - miraculously - the effects of their lack of skill get tripled. 'Scrubs' in ACH don't need much skill to do fine in their tier, just move&shoot and things are going to be fine, but 'scrubs' not in ACH should l2p or get used to getting rekt by 'scrubs' in ACHs?

Exactly.

Not broken technically, just smaller than on anything with comparable firepower and/or overall hit points. That's still unbalanced though.
It's also quite hard to kill a spider, but then, it is equally hard for spiders to actually damage other mechs properly with those puny weaponry. This is why there is no rage against spiders.

Yep. A shame that a few of "I have a good aim and don't give a F about anybody with worse aim than me" guys can't see past their own noses.

You mean all those people that accuse everyone piloting good mechs of using a crutch should have PGI alter balance for them as a crutch. Sounds great, no really.
Also lol at the not broken "technically". It's hitboxes are where they should be on the mech.
