I have 40 million+ burning a hole but... I am scared to buy anything before the big rebalance on the 22nd. The details so far have been extremely vague. I am assuming that most people are waiting on the balancing changes to see what will really be altered. Is it worth getting anything at all until the changes have been made public and we know for sure what the new mech properties are?

You can choose to wait, it's only a week or so away.

I would, as some quirks will be changed dramatically or minor depending on how much one mech is quirked.

Example: The Grid Iron, Huggin, Dragon 1N etc. will be changed due to 50% cooldown quirks.

I'd wait before buying a new chassis.
If you need a 3rd variant to master a chassis, then go for it.

Yes. Buy an Origins pack. Now!

Why are you still here?

Oh, for bills? My bad.

SCR; DWF and TBR will still be god mechs and always will stay good mechs.

further you only should decide to buy for "good mechs only" if you are very limited on mechbays, otherwise you should buy mechs you like.

As many adviced: wait the rebalance out and then decide.

But there will still roll tears for the unaware among us.

I know I'm not, already have 95% of the mechs I want/need.

Good pilots will always play what is best/OP at the moment, and then adjust to changes down the road.

But you buy what you want to play, as often as things change, its pointless in chasing quirks.

I wouldn't really worry too much about the rebalance/re-quirking if you are looking to get new mechs.

Personally I'm just sitting on c-bills until the Origins Hunchbacks get released for c-bills, but I also have a lot of mechs already so I won't even notice the few I'm missing.

Wait unless you are me and have certain mechs you by regardless of how useful they are or in many cases are not because *reasons*

Wait.

Here's a hint: Any 'mechs that go on sale, be it chassis or hero right before a balance change... are going to get nerfed into the ground!

I think its safe to say that top IS mechs (TDR-5SS, WVR-6K, STK-4N) are not going to be their respective class leaders anymore.

I'd buy a marauder any time.

Stalkers okay, the other two however are going to get their buffs tweaked back a bit, wolverine is between yes and maybe, as only one arm has all the weapons in general, while the t-bolt has good quirks and weapons dispersed along the torsos and arm.

Yeah, I think we will probably see a significant range decrease on the 5SS, to make it more of a brawler.

There is a history with this sort of behavior... My main concern is although I have nearly 80 mechs, that 40 million was a lot harder to make this go round than a year or two ago. From what I hear, it would be quirks but hitboxes, geometry, etc. that will be looked at this time. Some mechs may receive a massive gain or loss based upon this. What disturbs me most is how vague PGI has been this time in terms of what will actually change.

Im guessing the rebalance is going to address laser vomit and the long-range laser meta

1) reduced range on clan lasers and removal of energy range quirks on IS mechs
2) all clan lasers linked for ghost heat, so you can no longer combine CERML and CLPL to circumvent ghost heat

Buy "bad" mechs. If you like them now, they're probably only going to get better after the update!

Im still not convinced there will be any rebalancing.

To me it sounds like theyre going to drop all the mechs into a Battle Value system and then thatll be used to "make better matches".

Then in the undefinable future, quirks and such will be rebalanced.

Id love to see a massive rebalance, but man I just feel in meh old heart, that the MG, Flamer, SRM2, AC2, Orion, Victor, Vindicator, etc, will still all be totally useless.

I tend not to let quirks determine what I buy. I'm not 1337 like that.
