Don’t sell any either, you never know what might get buffed. I sold that free Thunderbolt they gave us just a few weeks before they buffed it into the ERPPC god it was for a while…

Yeah I still had my Thunderbolt when that happened, that was a great few weeks. It was king of CW there for a minute.

Here's hoping that all IS mechs will become equally bad!

Balance changes won't effect me, buy what you like, play what you like. B)

Yeah I predict nothing really changes. The underhive will still be the underhive, Timbergods, Wubshees and Doomcrows etc will still be lord of the wastes.

From what I understand it won't be just quirks which will change. I'm just afraid to get something which will turn out to be garbaage. Sort of like my short lived experiment with Quickdraws a long time ago.

The price of gas doesn't affect me, I always put in 30 litres.

Only real problem I had about buying stuff is when the Victor and Highlander got hit with the nerf bat. assault Jump jets could still use some tweaking, 5 jump jet Heavy Metal sigh. try not to let quirks override my mech buying decisions but I still feel the sting because I haven't used both those mechs since then...

Yea I have about 25 mil saved up which is the most I've had in a long time.. gonna wait for the rebalance to decide what's next though. Though I'm finding now I pretty much have all the mechs I want/like... the rest don't interest me that much.

I like the look of the Black Knight but.. another laserboat with no JJs is pretty boring.

Highlander IIC interests me but I'll wait for it for cBills (plus it is months away).

There has been so many rebalances you might as well. Just keep collecting them and once you get 50 or so it doesn't even matter anymore.

I know gas prices are low when there is traffic leading up to and inside the parking lot.

Not worth it.

The opposite happened to me. The free Thunderbolt made me feel like I might as well get two more so I could Master them. Next thing I knew...

Same here. Nothing worth buying for a long time since I only roll with IS 'mechs. I got 225 million cbills lying around...

I have 40 million+ burning a hole but... I am scared to buy anything before the big rebalance on the 22nd. The details so far have been extremely vague. I am assuming that most people are waiting on the balancing changes to see what will really be altered. Is it worth getting anything at all until the changes have been made public and we know for sure what the new mech properties are?

-k

I wouldn't buy anything until then, you've saved up enough to get the most requirkening-fun out of the upcoming changes, keep it that way.

There are over 200 mech variants in the game and chances are some of them are bound to end up slightly broken (*COUGH*OVERQUIRKED*COUGH*).

40m is perfect for a brand new set of three of any mechs except for Clam Assaults.

I would tend to follow that same vain, however.... I can see certain mechs being truly screwed over from hitbox changes. Of course, I choose to believe that hitbox changes will be mostly positive. But, I am going to pretend I am from Missouri... Show me. Probably due to past history.

you shouldn't let quirks and meta decide what you buy. Look for mechs you like, those which somehow look interesting to you, be it the look, the hardpoints or whatever. Balance changes all the time, 10 bucks we'll see a PPC meta someday again.

On a serious note, usually the best way to buy a mech is to look for "innate" design features that make them effective, rather than "external" mechanics like quirks.

Innate mech features include hardpoints (number, location, mounting height), hitboxes, engine cap, total tonnage, and Endo/FF (if Omnimech). If a mech is well-designed such that it is effective without any external help, then it's a safe bet for you to buy it. Such effective designs are almost "nerf-proof" unless Paul seriously unleashes his full fury...

...But if a mech is only viable when external help like quirks are applied, then you should be careful of pendulum swing balancing.

^This.

This is why I run stuff like the BNC-3S...it's all about hardpoints, their locations, and overall mech performance for me. Durability is another one. I loved my CTF-3D even before they gave it quirks, and built it the same way before them as I do now.

I still forget that quirks are a thing half the time when buying new mechs... Visuals, hardpoints, engine, and JJ are what matter, quirks are a bonus if they happen to line up with my vision for the mech.
