Yes. From someone who was there. They said the split was because Lords was pushing hacks on the team to back up their "ggclose" taunting. Guess it would have looked silly if you couldn't win. But EmP wasn't going to hack to boost their self-esteem, so they left you.

But hey, don't get all offended and stuff. Its just someone being salty on the net. People are so sensitive these days...

Lords and EMP hacking? Noways!!!! It's sad they need to use outside help to pad their stats. But then again when you get that many egos all in one group, thinking that people aren't going to clash is unrealistic.

There are bad sports in every game. I've been the target of trolls (It happens). Unless they are shooting/tking me (it happens), I don't really care.

It's almost obligatory for some mid to low scoring guy, who got carried for the match, to say "GGCLOSE NUBS lolollol".

It's like rain, on your wedding day. Or a free ride, when you've already paid. It's like good advice, you just didn't take. Who would'a thought. It figures...

If I lost a soccer game 12-1?

I'd have walked off the field in shame, because clearly our team never belonged on it to begin with. In professional sports, you'd call it "running up the score" and it's considered a lousy thing to do to the other side- but in MWO, you can't sub in your third-stringers when you're ahead by an insurmountable distance.

Not equivalent. A solid drubbing in soccer is something like 3-0, not 12-1.

If you're an awful loser, fine, but it's not the world's fault, and the world shouldn't have to cater to you.

There's a reason half of you split from lords is there not? It's not like there weren't some pretty big egos in that group to begin with.

I really like "gg close" a lot!

It's a perfect comment when you lose big...

gg in a complete stomp is not really a good sportsmanship comment imho (unless you keep it in team chat)

Though I do think some people will be offended whatever you write...

Honestly remarks from the opposing team after a stomp, while sometimes annoying, are far less so than the typical rants and crying from people on the same team. All the 'way to go team, noobs' and 'hate MM for putting me with losers' or all the other crap most players who think far to highly of themselves spout off after a match. Watched one player in spectator mode, shooting at targets under 180 meters with IS LRM's, who then raged about our team after dying! GGCLOSE doesn't come near the anger of someone bashing their team inspires in me. Hell, even if you carried hard, show a little dignity and try not to bash on the people who already know they lost (especially because anyone can have a bad game and/or a loss).

You said a "solid drubbing" in soccer was 3-0.

I can point you to plenty of 6 goal+ stomps if you like, but I figured 12-0 would be most appropriate for the topic at hand.

The fact that you can get a greater drubbing than 3-0 on soccer doesn't mean that 12-0 and soccer is the same as 12-0 in MWO.

If you get beat 3-0 in soccer it's a beatdown every bit as bad as 12-0 here, and you'd be a real buttcap if you refused to be a good sport about it.

Particularly given that here, a 12-0 game could still have been a very close game. Unlike in sports, the end result is not really a score.

In regular sports, psychological things aside, having someone score on you doesn't increase the likelyhood of scoring again. Here, as soon as one mech is destroyed, it's easier to destroy more, and harder for the shorthanded team to destroy the mechs of the larger team. So, a large score differential in traditional sports is inherently indicative of a stomp. It's not the same here.

Having experience stuff like that as a kid, and baseball/teeball shamings as well where the entire line would touch hands and say "Bad game" to each other, yes. I hated and still hate the obligatory yet meaningless "GG" lines coaches forced the kids to do because I knew in my heart NONE of it was sincere. Not. One. Single. Time.

But on those individual times, caught separate with someone who did well I could sincerely tell them they did well. Those are the few times it mattered. When it was earned.

I was taught to say "Good game" and shake the hands of the opposing team no matter the game's outcome when I was young. I cannot shake the hands of the opposing team over the internet, but I can and will say "gg" for almost every game I play. The context others apply to my attempt at sportsmanship is beyond my control and their problem if cannot accept the gesture for what it is.

My Little League and soccer coaches would have benched me for saying "Bad game" or even saying "Good game" and not meaning it. It was never about shaming, it was about having dignity and grace in both victory and defeat, no matter what. It saddens me that people had coaches that did not take the time to teach their players why and just made them go through the motions. If the point of the exercise it is not taught, then the exercise accomplishes nothing or worse.

They would have had to bench both teams continuously because you can't make someone 'mean it'. They either do or don't. reflexively saying "GG" is worthless. There are many ways to say it without meaning it or turning it into the insult. I saw them all. I know this is alien thinking, but I also don't think this is an uncommon occurrance, and on the internet, it's even more common.

A lot of times my "GGs" go out more toward certain players who I have a good sparring bout with, rather than the entire team. Maybe I should make that more clear next time.

See that's a good thing. Someone who does good deserves that special call out for actually HAVING a GG. Be sincere, don't condescend, never on a humiliating loss (and anything below 4 kills is humiliating unless it was a cap race)
