Win or lose, I usually type, 'thanks all'

I think that just about covers it from every angle.

but communicating with the other team is NEVER necessary

No, but it's nice. If I see a good lad on the other team and wanna do a shoutout, I can. We're humans. We communicate. Friendly chatter isn't necessary, it's good for a game where you have fun. I want to thank the opfor for the game, I can. If you get mad by simply being addressed by opfor, you'd best realize that you're nota trueborn Clannerscum being addressed by some lowly Inner Sphere surat. You're just two scrublords looking for a good time on the internet.

Unless of course, you hate this, and you're a masochist. Can't help you there.

I'm with you mate, I've played with and against you, and you are a solid player...Scrubs that hide so they can come in fresh at the end and clean up REALLY gripe me too...

Someone complimenting my playstyle? It's a rare occasion so this really means something to me.
I run around a lot and some might look at it as hiding. But i'm merelly trying to hit my enemy without getting hit back.
My builds don't do well on direct confrontation and allout aggression.
Those builds are too hot for allout aggression and my weapons loadout is so mixed it sometimes look like Canon builds.

It's true that i often come the end of a match with 90% but that's because i was doing my best to stay alive so i could do more damage over time.
I'm just a guy who uses stealth to confuse and do damage over time. Thank again you Petard.
(now i'm almost in tears....sniffle)

It only takes one person to say something like ggclose on a landslide win to embolden a bunch of other people to do it all day long, due to anonymity. OP is correct on that.

I had an interesting exchange with a player in War Thunder yesterday who got shot down in his dive bomber, after being attacked by two fighters near the end of the match. He fought them off hard, and both fighters were smoking as they tailed off. The exchange went something like this...

[Me]: Nice job, man.
[Player]: What? What do you mean by that?
[Me]: You might get two kills out of that.
[Player]: What the hell did you expect? There was two of them.
[Me]: I know... I'm not slap talking you, I'm basically saying 'Well done!'
[Player] Oh, sorry. Most people are jerks in this game. Thanks.

That just about sums up how toxic games communities have become, doesn't it? You have to spell out a compliment in crayon for people to take your meaning.

It's like everyone is looking for sarcasm instead of sincerity in every word we say nowadays. It's like another language being spoken even though the words are said the same way.
Had a hide and seek duel with a guy and he went ballistic when i complimented him. He nearly took my both my arms off which contained almost all my weapons.
He laid 3 ambushes that could have finished me if i took the bait. He did a good job whether he likes it or not.

I've accidentally said "gg" in all chat after a stomp, but it was usually after I personally had just had a good fight with the last one killed, and I haven't yet realized it was a stomp...then I feel bad..

On stomps I usually try to just say it to the team, especially if we won through some good maneuvers and teamwork.

I tend to give it when I lose, if the fights were good anyway, because losing doesn't really bother me, long as I got to shoot stuff and make CBills.

I tend to not get upset by it when it happens to me, because..well, internet. Been here a while. Once you've been on forums for years, played games like EVE Online, you tend to have to learn to ignore it, or you'd go crazy, letting yourself get amped up over stuff that happens in games.

Especially knowing that there's a large subset of players whose sole purpose in logging in is to troll people as much as possible. I don't like to play into it.

i can have my fun by communicating with my own team strategically to win the game. IS or Clan when you are opposing me your only role is to die as quickly and ineffectively as possible. your thoughts, feelings, well wishes aren't wanted or needed., if anything they distract players from driving their mechs properly by engaging in unnecessary chat. being social is what TS, and garage based chats are for. i am a scrublord looking for a good time, by killing my opponent. i could care less about his/her opinion. when we get rolled, i don't want to hear from them either.. send your "GG" and other wishes to your own team and move on. that simple

A sociopath clanner. What a surprise.
Disable alltalk, then stop acting like human interaction and friendliness is the bane of your existence. The only thing you'll worry about then is people having fun behind your back. ;)

Well there is one thing i'm glad i have only seen once in MWO. It was back when VOIP was just implemented into the game.
2-3 players sexually harrassed a very young boy. He couldn't have been older than 10-12 years old.
The stuff they said to him was....downright horrifying.

They were adults ganging up on a small kid. I told him that no one would blame him if he left the match with things like that.
I didn't know anything about how to take screenshot or how to report players back then. I don't record my matches either.
There was even a woman among the bullies. I really thought motherly instinct was a thing.
But this woman had no such thing. She laughed and was downright disgusting.

The best i could do was to hunt those subhuman scum and try to show that boy some support.
I got one of them but it did not make me feel better.

Hey, I have never "ggclose"'d an opposing team I've stomped. As such, I reserve the right to act like the purest dove picking the garbage can.

But you have always been too kind... I'll save the best ones for you from the can!

like i said before, i can't find a good reason inter-team chat is even enabled in match.

I have: inter-team banter between those who know/recognize each other. That to me is reason enough to have it, and better than catering to sore losers and the onion skinned.

And for those who do not want to see anything from the other side, they can always disable it.Why enable it and then complain like a toddler?

Options! They are not a bad thing.

Yeah I got called the token black guy funny.
I just disconnected.
Then I told myself don't stiff the team because of one jackass.
So I reconnected.
Turned out to be one of my better matches.
I went on to get 5 kills.
Including the jackass, I snorted coffee thru my nose when he whined about the lurm-storm.
His name will be forever logged in my Book of Grudges.
Also available in paperback.
