I got beat by someone playing a car racing game using an old joystick on a CRT monitor?

Isn't that kinda like using a steering wheel to play MWO?

And I have to laugh when people are like "I dont want to have to play games with jerks!"

Just wait until you grow up children. Theyre everywhere, and youll probably end up working for one of them, or depending on a team of them.

I'm assuming you dropped against Villz and his band of miscreants? He's the only person I've seen in game actually spout that. Just ignore him and move on.

No one has perfect games all the time, the best thing for you to do is get better, and win next time.

Villz can be a complete douchebag. The times i played with him is just something i would classify as a total goofy without trying to offend him, but in fact you can't when you met him.

Oh he can be utterly toxic, which is why I typically just keep my mouth shut. There's no sense in feeding him; also why you don't ever see me on r/mwo. It's like Mos Eisley over there.

A stomp is never a good game... Ever...

But then again i tend to answer a GG after a stomp with "GFWAWS"... I leave it up to them to figure it out.

Unless it was a especially horrid stomp and the winning side tells me GG...Then i reply in a gentleman-like "well (sexual interaction) to you too" It tends to get the point across.

But there ARE consequences. What you see as someone being a jerk, and wanting them to "pay for it", makes you the jackass.

If they arent threatening you, or hurting you, or causing you financial lost. Who cares.

You basically saying you want people who are jerks to get their ass kicked. *blinks* Call me crazy but that is literally the worst example of internet anonymity. We all know full well, if we were all in a bar, and some guy was like "Hey nice shirt loser" you would not kick his ass, or whine to your friends that you should have kicked his ass, or if you do actually take a drunken swing at the guy, end up in handcuffs, because the ACTUAL consequences are already laid out and self evident.

What you people are upset about is that someone can act a way you dont like, and you dont have any control over it, and wish that there was some metaphorical boot that could come down on them to make your life more pleasant and their expense.

Thats exactly the plot of 1984 :P

Youd rather them suffer, than you suffer them.

Grow up. Get a helmet.

Oh, give me a break. I'm sure your smarter than that.

Obviously, I'm not saying I want to literally punch him in the face, nor am I advocating actual physical violence.

But the underlying point is this: in grown up society, people do not peak off at random strangers they do not walk up to strangers on the street and scream at them, and if you saw that happening, I'm sure you wouldn't tell the poor person being yelled at/insulted that they ought to "grow a thicker skin". That is simply unacceptable behaviour, and the reality is that people who act like that are eventually ostracised, because nobody wants those people in society.

In real life, you learn not to do those things because there would be consequences. You may get punched, though that's admittedly unlikely because some people have manners, but people just refusing to associate with you or deal with you at all is likely. And in real life, there's no easy way to just start over - those bridges, once burnt, remain burnt.

If its not OK in real life, its not OK online.

Well there is one thing i'm glad i have only seen once in MWO. It was back when VOIP was just implemented into the game.
2-3 players sexually harrassed a very young boy. He couldn't have been older than 10-12 years old.
The stuff they said to him was....downright horrifying.

They were adults ganging up on a small kid. I told him that no one would blame him if he left the match with things like that.
I didn't know anything about how to take screenshot or how to report players back then. I don't record my matches either.
There was even a woman among the bullies. I really thought motherly instinct was a thing.
But this woman had no such thing. She laughed and was downright disgusting.

The best i could do was to hunt those subhuman scum and try to show that boy some support.
I got one of them but it did not make me feel better.

Pray do tell how you 'got' one of them..

gg is a standard minimum of politeness.

ggclose was adopted by a small subset of the "comp" crew, IIRC initially by the self-styled Lords, and is essentially a condescending insult deployed when they pub-stomp. It has since filtered into the wider community, largely used by people as a sort of sardonic "wow did MM screw you guys" after a completely one-sided stomp.

II'll say "gg" after most every game. It's partially a reflex, partially a "thank you for showing up and playing this online video game with me", and occasionally a "great job kicking my ass". I, like the OP (I think?), was also an athlete for many years and I certainly wasn't only shaking my opponent's hands because the audience was watching me.

If you're so insecure that you can't handle a minimal show of sportsmanship without throwing your keyboard across the room, that's really not my problem.

But how in the name of anything holy is it polite to use in a stomp... It was not a good game... Yes it is better than ggclose but it is still insane to use old outdated tool to force a sense of "good sportsmanship" (because that is what the handshake is... a old ritual that most likely was used to force the losing team to reconcile their loss) in this day and age.... Use it if the game was good.... Don´t use it by reflex no matter what or you spend what ever little worth the term have left.

"Act online as you would in person."

You find that unreasonable? Really? Clearly, then, you're part of the problem.

Regardless, I don't expect others to. I've come to understand that (primarily children) have grown up in the post-internet world, where they can be dbags freely and without consequences ... So they do so. I expect this, but that doesn't mean I approve, nor that I'll respect those people. I understand the response to this too: "I don't care if you approve or respect me." I realise that, too, but those people ought to be aware that it's not just me - there are lots like me, and we'll just continue dropping those people into the "irrelevant, obnoxious douchbag kids" bucket. *shrugs*

That people lack character is their problem, not mine. It's just sad how almost an entire generation has grown up to be like that.

Are you totally devoid of humor you missed the joke?

Once again, you're still clueless.

And by the way, stop stalking me, stalker. If you had been paying attention instead of just stalking, not to mention just suddenly butting in, you'd get it. <smh>
