Congrats PGI, you get all the money.

Now give me the rest of the unseen and I'll give you more.

Also I'm so glad I asked about the HG negotiations in the what should we talk about thread.

It will be priced like the Urbanmech was, IIRC. Plus $15 if you want the "Bounty Hunter" hero

RLY? Dang. If it comes packed like the other packs did, that would be nuts.

Sadly....I have a feeling my WHM won't be part of a Stand Alone...... that one is probably gonna cost me a pretty penny.

I think it is. (With the Black Widow being the hero.)

So that makes this following joke video actually canon? :D

More or less this is canon because of through armor criticals. Any successful hits require a damage location roll and rolling a 2 causes a critical hit chance on the torso that corresponds to the attack direction. Critical hit chances also occur if an attack does damage to the internal structure of a 'Mech. On the critical hit tables a roll of 8 to 9 causes one critical hit, 10 or 11 causes 2 critical hits, and a 12 blows off the any non torso location it strikes or causes 3 critical hits to torso locations. So it is possible, however unlikely, to take out any 'Mech with any weapon that causes at least one point of damage. The Urbie in that video got some absolutely epic rolls to win when badly outmatched. If a player is lucky enough, even a Small Laser will put down an Atlas or Dire Wolf in a single shot (odds of getting a 2 followed by a 12 is 1:1296 not including the to-hit roll which can vary in odds).

For some reason, every time I look at the Marauder my wallet flies open and my credit card ends up in my hand....it is really weird.

Marauder II Bounty Hunter This version is built with Clan technology similar to the Marauder II C. It uses a standard Fusion Engine with sixteen tons of Ferro Fibrous armor and Endo Steel internal structure. It is armed with an ER PPC and two Medium Pulse Lasers in each arm. A Gauss Rifle sits in the right torso with two tons of ammunition, and a Targeting Computer is in the left torso for increased accuracy. It has a Clan-techCASE system to protect the Gauss Rifle, and can jump 90 meters at a time.
The more I read about the Marauder the more lackluster it seems. The only thing I'm seeing that I really like is that it looks like I'll be gaining the mobility of the TBR with the hit-boxes of the STK. But I'm really curious about the 75-ton bit: The Bounty Hunter was a 100-ton Marauder II. Are the standard variants going to be 75-tonners with a 100-ton jump-capable hero mech?

He (?) actually had couple different versions of the Marauder, not just the Mad-II.

  • Bounty Hunter model (3015) This unusual variant features lostech, the standard 300 Vlar fusion engine has been downgrade to 225 version giving it a top speed of 54 kph. It mounts a standard PPC and a Medium Laser in each arm. Another PPC and Medium Laser are mounted on the right torso, with additional Medium Lasers mounted on the center and left torso. 16 Double Heat Sinks are use to cool this beast down allowing it to firing all 3 PPCs without even generating excess heat. It features 14.5 tons of standard armor giving it maximum armor for it's weight and capable of jumping over 90 meters. It's painted all green with credit symbols. BV (1.0) = 1,686 BV (2.0) = 1,919[56]
  • Bounty Hunter model (3044) The Bounty Hunter upgraded his Marauder sometime in 3044, the fusion engine was upgrade to an extra-light version while keeping it at the same rating to save weight but with it's increase size 3 Double Heat Sinks were removed. The standard PPCs were upgrade to ERPPC, both the left and right torso mounted Medium Lasers were removed while the center torso Medium Laser was moved to the head to make room for a Gauss Rifle on the right torso and 2 tons of ammunition. This upgrade allow the Bounty Hunter to engage its enemies at a far greater range while still able to continuously operate without fear of overheating. BV (1.0) = 1,788 BV (2.0) = 2,103[57]

So, slow, with lots of extra firepower.

Well I'm seeing now that I have been deceived by MWII...I was thinking this would be the MAD II. Extra firepower doesn't win a fight. My TBR seems to give me everything the MAD is going to offer.

Weell... yeah. Kinda. The Marauder was supposed to "usher in a new generation of battlemechs", but this was prevented by the fall of the Star League- which was after the clans left the inner sphere, taking the marauder with them. The Woodsman, and its successor the Timberwolf, can in a way be thought of as the decedents of the design philosophy of the Marauder, filtered down the ages and carrying superior clan pod-based tech.

If you're looking for pure functionality, the Timberwolf is your ride. The Marauder at this point in MWO is more of a classic sportscar, more nostalgia and collector's item than a tier-1 metamech.

And there are some odd people who only drive IS, where the other 75 tonners have been lackluster, who are likely hoping this is the one that turns out as potent as its reputation.

It did actually. You have the Nightstar, the designed but not built until 305X+ Maelstrom and Dragon fire, and the evolutionary response to the Mad Cat, Rakshasa

Hey, who do you think you're calling odd, huh? I'm not odd, dammit! I'm stubborn and bloodyminded! Get it right! :D

Okay. Maybe a little odd too. :)

And to note, it was the Mercury that ended up ushering in a new age of tech...but for the Clans as it was the first mech to have a modular weapon system and from that Omni-tech was born. I love when they add lore bits like this and one of the reason I love Btech so much :)
