CDA-3F
The -3F Cicada is one of the most advanced versions of this 'Mech, it's upgrades based on combat reports from the front lines of the Clan Invasion, and was introduced in 3052. The chassis has been constructed using Endo Steel construction techniques and the 'Mech is protected with six and a half tons of Ferro-Fibrous armor. The 3F is powered by an extralight engine and carries a weapons loadout that appears to be a cross between the 2A and 3C models. The primary weapon is an ER PPC, which is backed up by two medium lasers. What's more the Cicada can now jump up to two hundred and forty meters thanks to the inclusion of eight jump jets.[4] BV (1.0) = 1,202[5], BV (2.0) = 1,329

The weapons don't sound too good, hope there's more than three energy hardpoints.

But the jumping! :o :o :o

cant wait. and it gets 4 E hardpoints, 2 in each ST.

/edit

should be something like this, gauss ammo areJJs.
CDA-2A

2xLL 2xML should work well, or 2xPPC/LPL.

thats the stock armor of the 2A and theres free tonnage and 2 extra heatsinks. was just to show how the stock build might look.

btw, armor was never the strength of the cicada ;)

That's stock, not suggested.

It's not gonna be great. AND I DON'T CARE!

I'm in my twelfth hour of squeeing. I should probably consult a physician.

It won't be jumping 240 meters in MWO. In BT they can jump in any direction and pretty far. That in MWO? Probably hovering between 20 to 30 meters.

I can't find the reference to the mech. Does it have ECM? I'd love to have a totally OP cicada to go with the other 6 I have.

Hardpoints in CDA are high enough and are awesome for a fast poptarter.
I'm already theoricrafting with the CDA-2A.
Yummy.
I hope for a 2ppc. Depending on quirks, eventually.

Gauss ammo = JJ

I'm currently theorycrafting with XL-280, 2x(ER)LL, 2xML, possibly BAP, and a few JJ's.

My only issue is that I wonder if I'll ever go back to my 2A/3C/3M once there's a JJ-capable alternative available.

That is the build I was thinking, hoping for good quirks.
If not, the PPC version should be ok, since the speed would be ok for keeping the ppc minimum range.

40% cooling eff in smurfy is not so bad for a poptarter.

This will have about the same jumping height as a Spider 5V right? Maybe a little more? Class IV jumpjets are really powerful right now.

It will be funny how a 'mech 10 tons heavier with 2 tons less jumpjets can match the spider.

I don't think I qualify for it as is. I did buy the Urbie pack and Resistance 1 and 2. I think I actually had to have bought MC directly which I hadn't done.

Now the question is. Is the new Cicada worth $7 to me (lowest MC purchase amount). I don't have any other Cicadas and honestly wasn't a huge of the design (inside or out).

Then again I'm getting a Wolverine and I don't have any of those either lol.

Still, it will be the best Jumper in the game that can mount more than 2 weapons.

Med JJs are the most powerful and 40 tons is the lightest Med.

It could probably get 300M horizontal distance from a running start, maybe 20M height from that.

Extralight engine though. Please tell me they plan to introduce those with it. Because it would be a huge step in bridging the gap in balance. Even if it's still inferior weight wise.

JUMPCADAAAAAS

Anyways.

With some creative armor shaving that mostly consists of stripping the armflaps bare, you can get two large/two medium on the thing, like so. Traditional CDA-3M hunter-killer armament, though substituting PILES OF JUMP JETS for the ECM and extra sinks of the original

Alternatively, quad-MPL super-jumping scout-duelist, like so. I don't know how this one will do - back in the day it would have been a righteous handful with intense mobility and enough lasers to make people sit up and take notice, but 'enough lasers to make people sit up and take notice' is a different number of lasers these days. Admittedly with EIGHT CLASS IV jump jets and 133kph top speed, you can evade&avoid like a right proper champion, so it could be an entertaining harasser and pursuit 'Mech.

Or the Super Stock* Edition, trading down engine size to get extra armor, sinkage, and that third medium laser, like so. Fair sniper, though in this role it has competition from the CDA-3M. Do you prefer mega jumping on your sniper, or do you prefer ECM camouflage? You could likely shave and de-rate your engine down to a dual PPC poptart...but frankly if you're doing that, the Sparky's a much better bet anyways, and/or the SHD-2K or some of the other 55-ers that don't have to give up literally everything else to cram two PPCs and a mutton-ton of jets onto the chassis.

Frankly, I wonder if something like this guy here isn't the way to go instead. You get more reach and firepower both than the quad-MPL hunter, though no active probe. Significantly better heat efficiency than the ERPPC version and the DuaLarge HK, with the reach disadvantage somewhat offset by the Cicada's speed - 220m optimal on the iMPL is harsh, but ~300 optimal might be easier to deal with. Pretty reasonable infighter with the short beam durations on iLasers, but still not the ferocious 40+ alphas most people associate with Good these days. Will have to hit more than once, even against assplating. Does, however, have the speed and aerial agility to get to assplating, so we'll see.

Either way, will be good to see the inside of a new Cicada again!
