So, I have just installed PTS client. Then looked at the quirks and realized I have absolutely NO idea how the hell were they applied to mechs. This is just so random, like this "rebalance" was applied by some AI with crazy logic, not by human being. I am so confused right now that I'm legit scared of trying to join a match.
I don't get why this is a thing and why on earth it was even shown to us. It feels like it's (maybe) just a very-very basic idea for a rebalance that is not even in alpha stage.

Who figures out which mechs get the +2.5% XP bonus? Anyone have an idea how the value of 2.5% was arrived at? It seems really dumb. Anyone gonna choose one mech over another because of that sweet, sweet XP bonus?

This was always there since the beginning. You have to use ALL the stock omnipods that came with the mech to benefit.

Given that most stock omnipods are godawful (Gargoyle-Prime all stock is awful no matter how you try), you see how it's generally not beneficial (if not an outright joke).

Here's a more important thought...

Remember a while back that Paul was reassigned to CW (after the late great CERLL 2.0s duration horror that had to be hotfixed out)?

CW Phase 3 was supposed to be an October thing, but let's be honest... we still know little to nothing about what will actually be implemented...

I know it's great to have fun random conspiracy theories, but that alone makes me very afraid to what's to come.

I'm curious. If the next balance pass makes IS significantly superior to Clan mechs pretty much across the board... would most Clan players quit?

I'd see more raging.

More likely the reverse would be true instead... or rather people just leaving because balance didn't have to be effed up this badly (Timberwolf indirect buffs don't contribute to a positive outcome).

With absolutely no changes, sometimes not even bug fixes, in spite of 'just a test' comments.

So we're a little fearful.

Thats what we're afraid of.

Balance in MWO is about firepower alot more than it is mobility, IS just got all its firepower stripped away with the PTS balance fix, Clanners aren't missing out on anything, they still have UAC-5/10/20, still got massive range LPL's and 1 ton ERML's and 1 ton SPL's (which are the equivalent of IS's Medpulse still at half weight, don't kid yourself)

I know what they're shooting for by giving all these Structure bonuses, its to get big long drawn out brawls where IS mechs actually start losing their weapons before component annihilation happens, afterward its nothing but a bunch of disarmed blobs of structure walking around unable to die nor fight back.

On one side, yeah TTK will go down, but mostly its shifted to making IS mechs being dumbed down alot on firepower.

Weapon and heat quirks like we have right now are close to being balanced, but only on a handful of mechs, the rest are still far under or far over what they need to be to hit that balance.

I quite honestly don't know what to think about it anymore other than PGI is so lost in terms of balance that neither they, nor us really know what to do with it.

Its like the mess we have with ECM, its been going on far too long to the point where its normal, and nobody will step up or dare propose a change that makes sense without requiring it to do a complete 180 and causing a massive **** storm, and that is what PGI is attempting to do here with the rebalance.

The hope is that weapon balancing is coming later.

The big fear is that they'll push this live before the weapon balancing is done.

The bigger fear is that the weapon balancing will go like.... yeah.
