'We failed to find the right spot default zoom level before going live, I accept that responsibility but we hope to hotfix later this week.'

Yeah main issue for me, map too far zoomed out, game went into a brawl as other side pushed, need comstar sitting on my shoulder to tell what is happening on the map all the symbols in a blob no help what so ever.

What I hope happens is the morph the ideas of the original minimap and combine them with the ideas of the new minimap. What that turns into... Not sure what they will do, but the new minimap SUCKS.

I can respect that, but no, this can't fall under the same banner.

In this case it's a change that has directly removed functionality, some integral to mech control, and has provided no new or useful functionality. It also suffers from considerable inconsistency.

Of course we will have to give it awhile, no choice on that. But I suspect this isn't going to go down as a loved feature and will inevitably have to receive either a zoom toggle as well as a representation of your torso arc on-map.

EASY FIX, make a button that allows us to SWITCH mini-maps between old an new. ALL major games have this (flight games, tank games, etc). Only things like CoD avoid players options to FORCE a game play.....

FIX IT PGI, the new map makes quick play unplayable

I like that the OP justifies their opinion on the new map on the basis that anyone who disagrees with them is just a poor player who is whining. How about some actual facts to back up that opinion?

I disagree with most of the OP. The only positive change to the mini-map that I can see is the new mech symbols, removing the directional indication of other mechs and giving size instead. I like that you can't tell what direction people are facing... that's a good change in my opinion.

The whole purpose of having a map is to provide you orienting information in relation to map features, and friendly and enemy tags. Getting rid of the map's rotation in relation with your own mech is a terrible change. It reverses what was an intuitive interface. Add to that the removal of the indication of torso/leg rotation, and you lose the ability to orient your mech's movement in relation to the map and to what is around you... rendering the map nearly useless as an aid in orientation.

The change to the mini-map broke what didn't need to be fixed.

The mini map is terrible, its useless, cant find my torso without having to resort to nonsense extra effort. I'm sure new players will love it. Cant really find my team on it. Just don't care to work harder to play a game. This mini map is work. It wasn't even broken.

Seriously, I'll check back in a couple months but I'm not gonna suffer through this. Later.

Maybe this is just me, but I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if PGI actually WAS trying to drive away the remaining "loyal" customers so that they can just divest themselves of MWO and try another Star Citizen knock off.

Russ' comments about "not needing community feedback" and "you're on an island" all the god damned time really make me think they're doing this shite on purpose.

Once they drive everyone off they can shut it all down and claim it was the toxic community that forced their hand. I can't even imagine the excuse Russ would try to come up with to explain that.

Good thing I haven't logged into the client in months. I'm so sick and tired of PGI screwing up literally everything one mechanic at a time.

you are not alone thinking that, if PGI does that to MWO, just as EA ( and all EA owned studios ) lost me as a customer for good.

every day im still astonished that some one didnt run with the money

Why...

WHY?

(so many things needing a fix in this game, and they are spending resources on breaking things that DID work)

(EDIT: oh, oh! And making FP videos, like that´s what's going to make people play it)

I kind of know the maps well enough to not need it for navigation, but please please please bring it back. This is garbage.

Changing the minimap was so uncalled for. The minimap was perfectly fine the way it was. The added commander options are fine too but why mess up the minimap in the process? I don't even understand where I am when i take a brief glance at the map. Its so tiresome to read mid combat that i'm getting headaches. Most importantly, the map has to rotate with you, or at least you have to have the option to make the map rotate with you.

We should also remove the crosshairs because clearly that was a crutch and people would get used to it. Also none of your positives were brought about by the minimap view being changed, and could still have easily worked with the old minimap and the battlegrid.

read and then realise how useless your post was.

Hm... we shall see how the new settings are then. In worst case this makes it even more of a twitch shooter and less tactical combat game :(

As players I suppose we will need to adapt.

From now on I only go north.

Actually that sounds like what you should do if you were playing Ark: Evolved.

I apologize for the clear words, but I'm absolutely shocked how PGI could release such a patch.

I'm playing since Closed BETA and the only thing that is constant in patches from PGI to their ONLY product, is the fu*k up.
Did you ever ask someone, who is aktually playing your game before rolling out such ridiculous patches? (Examples below) Obviously you are not playing your game by yourself.

Examples:

You guys remeber LRMargeddon 3,5 years ago? (fixed within one day with a rollback, embarrassing!)
PPC/Gaus Jumpsniperwarrior time 3-2 years ago?
Ridiculous imbalanced Scout Mode in Faction Play (still not fixed!)
I still wonder how the first Long Tom made it through the quality check....

When I saw the new minimap, it absolutely convinced me that you guys NEVER play your game before releasing a major change to your game. And the problem is that you ruin all the positive reputation benefit you might could earn for all the good things you introduced with that patch because of these fu*k ups which cause these regular sh*t storms

If I would release such a product in my business, I would run bankrupt, within a few weeks. My customers would never come back! The only reason we stick to that product is the lack of alternative for a multiplayer Mechwarrior game.

The only good thing is, that I go for three weeks on holydays in two days...

I actually like the new minimap. I also liked the old minimap. I would like to have both as an option to that I could toggle between them. The new map will hopefully give players more information about where the pushes are going and where other team mates are positioned on the map, which was a problem with the old map.

Much bigger problem is that they changed the old Frozen city map to another version of "polar highlands". The new map looks great, but it does not have the feel of the old map. It would be best if the old frozen city map would also be in the rotation, as the new map is just not the same.

Well until this gets fixed i guess i will take a break, the minimap is terrible, why do you change something that was working?

After this Event I'm not playing until the minimap rotates with me.
