Why was the mini-map even changed??
I can think of a dozen things just off the top of my head which absolutely should have taken priority over making changes to the mini-map - a component of the game that was already working just fine and needed no adjustment.

This is a bit like taking a dump on the guy flying the 747 because real men don't need instruments, they just lick their finger and stick it out the window occasionally...shortly before the plane crash.
Information is ammunition, and PGI just replaced our .50 cal with half-powder .22 pistol loads.
Oh, in an epic case of "making something do something by removing it from everyone else":
Russ is saying now that we get to see which way the enemy is pointing if you use a command console.
I'll just let that bit of logic sink in. Three tons to see which way the bad guy is facing.

It needs i'd say 4 levels of zoom.. the smallest being 3x3, largest full map, and the two middle zooms, somewhere in between.
Bring back the Arrow, and cone of view,, I have gotten screwed up a few times with directions, but setting Center Legs hotkey has helped and a bit of a work around.
Bring back grid letters on the map, especially under Zoomed levels..
I actually like that the map stays fixed, It lets you understand which way things are a lot better, no mater which way you are faced. Especially for general directions.. Call out, they are North west, giving an area, verse grids. A huge plus for new players that don't know all the grids. No spin people would get used to if the other fixes are in place i think..
Over all good concept, just not quite finished..

Sounds like Info warfar to me.. I like the concept.. Give the CC reasons enough reasons to be worth the weight.. maybe this one is small, but it is a bonus reason.

And Russ says: "The Mini Map was thus re-designed with those considerations in mind. It became abundantly clear once the patch was live however that too much of the redesigned Mini Map was in anticipation for features not yet implemented."
This is a sneaky way of admitting that, yes, what they went live with today wasn't the result of a coding error, but something they actually MEANT to implement.
Appalling.
PGI should make a rule that all developers must play MWO at least three hours per week. They don't need to be ace pilots, but they do need to understand the fundamentals this game. And that rule should include Russ.
For Week 1, I suggest forcing developers to pilot Panthers, to help them get a sense of how wise some of their rescale decisions were.

No, he does not and I do not live on an island. This garbage voting system, An untested MINIMAP that renders the Seismic Sensor module useless, and mixing Tier 1 with Tier 5 players. Their refusal to state the actual players online per month. These are the reasons that PGI is losing so many old players and why steam players are leaving at the following rates over the last few months..... Consider all of the of the changes to Inner Sphere mechs and virtually none to Clan Mechs.... I seriously doubt that Russ likes Clan Mechs

Perhaps if you have a small monitor make one of them hidden by default.

For the same reason that 100 tons of pressure plus any additional force created by movement being spread across a rather small surface area (a mech's foot), is enough force that using RL physics would cause their legs to immediately go down a couple feet if not more on soft ground.
The really big thing you should be asking yourself: In the 31st Century... what happened to air superiority being the key to warfare? Fusion reactors they can make, drones with smart bombs, not so much.
It's sci-fi, take the tech with a grain of salt.

2-Seismic is utterly useless with this new "feature."
3-I am more interested in which direction the guy on the other side of the rock is facing when I drop a UAV than *what* he is.
4-I don't care if it remains as an option for people that like it, but I would like the option to have my old radar display back. Perhaps I can strip one out of the carcass of an enemy mech and use some duct tape, zip strips, and bailing wire to put it on my mech?
5-This thing has me seriously tilted and a lil angry. As in more angry than that guy that test fires his alpha strike into my back in the dropzone or drops an LRM 40 volley onto two locusts dueling.
