From watching their initial podcast type thing regarding the kickstarter, they are not opposed to having Clans in the game at all, just not in the first game. The idea behind the first game is to have a rich campaign and story set in the 3025 time period. They are not going to stretch that campaign and story to cover anything out of that era because they are a focus oriented developer, which keeps them on target. They are open to further expansions/sequels to the game being set in later time periods.

I am sure that if BATTLETECH gets fully funded that they will make sequels, like they did with Shadowrun.

If HBS does do that random card reward crap, I'm asking for a refund. Other than that, I'm totally stoked for a new tactical Battletech game.

MWT was being designed to be a Facebook style paywall shovelware game programmed by Facebook game devs, HBS's BATTLETECH will be nothing like that (look at their Shadowrun games).

I am sure that MWO will have it's niche. I personally have spent far too much on this game to just walk away, even when BATTLETECH, which sounds like it will be the lore-based game that I have been wanting for a long time, is out.

Yeah, I agree with you but personally I believe MWO has two more years tops before bankruptcy at it's current pace. PGI is so disconnected with its player base it's inevitable. It's pretty apparent, they don't even play their own title, and any time you do see a dev they're getting roflstommped badly. Destructible tree's and cockpit items... Yeah that's what we want pgi.. SMH.

Turn-based has its problem, mainly downtime for other players when you are planning and making your move. I hope that there will be some mechanics in the game to manage this well (Timer?).
Another thing that I'm happy about is the use of MWO's Mech design in the new BT. These Mechs are given a modernized look and the designs are great. The new look for Marauder and Warhammer chassis from MWO are the best ones so far since the Unseen saga. I am hoping to see more. In fact, I had once mentioned looking forward to an art book (TRO style) that contains all MWO mechs. Hardcover please.
Lastly I am happy that they start with 3025. I like the Succession Wars with classic Mechs (Unseens!). Bring it on!

You clearly haven't met Behemoth, and her older sister Behemoth II
When it comes to tanks, tanking things, those two can ruin everyone's day.

Yea, they are pretty boned. That whole relying on being the only ones with the IP, that whole being the only ones that we have to turn to for our BT/MW fix is over. I'm hoping this will encourage them to actually do something with MWO.

I've spent way too much money as well Ed. I'll keep playing with what I have in my garage, but I won't be giving PGI anymore money. I think more people are going to see the value offered with this BT title, and they are going to stop giving $ to PGI for what little they offer, which is a problem for PGI. We may still play the game, and buy our big stompy robots with c-bills, but that doesn't really pay the bills for PGI.
Let's hope they realize this and pull it together before they are gone for good.

This is the problem with MWO, we do not actually own anything that we have spent all of this money on, so when PGI calls it quits, we have nothing but screenshots and memories. At least with BATTLETECH, we will always have a copy of the game to reload and play, even long after HBS is gone.

No, but if you pledge at least $25 to the Kickstarter campaign (minimum to get the game when it is released), there are a couple upgrade options where you can purchase extra copies of the game which you can give as gifts (when released).

If you add at least $25 or $35 to your pledge, you will get one additional copy of the game (with extra digital bonuses in case of $35 supercharge) that you can donate to somebody.

You know what bankruptcy means, right?
