I mean really? Every atlas I've seen over the past month or two has did under 200dmg because all it's hardpoints are at it's center, not enough hardpoints vs dire-wolfs, crappy quirks, very slow and a massive very easy to hit target.

Why waste the money on it when every other assault is better in every possible way, the only reason why anybody buys it is for nostalgia and that alone will not make it any better.

The main menu has an Atlas on it and yet it's one of the most underperforming mechs in the game, it should be a dire on that menu because when I see a dire in game im like "oh crap here comes the hurt" but when I see a atlas I think "Im gonna blast him in the butt plate and move on" and out of all the mechs in the game the jenner would've done more dmg to me even though I was fighting the atlas waaay longer.

I want the Atlas's old glory back, make people fear it again.

A BLR-2C beats an Atlas in every respect:
HP, weapon positions, speed, torso twist, weapon types, tonnage

I see no point in an Atlas at all except the DDC maybe.

The Atlas was only feared until someone put 2 gauss rifles on a K2. Then DHS killed it, and newer heavy/assault mechs with better hardpoints buried it.

To be fair though, even in TT it was only scary within 90m.

The DDC's ECM shouldn't have to be it's redeeming quality, it should already be a good mech and the ECM should be a bonus. But sadly even the DDC is super bad.

My front was 70/110/70 and back was 14/14/14 or sometimes 20/20/20.

I'm currently trying to master the model and I have two champs (L)&(F) and the D-DC... It's like having my gums scraped with a rusty fork. There is no fun, there is no victory, it's loss after loss, quick death after quick death and something you have to slog through to finish like a 6 hour root canal and colon exam at the same time.

I'm 'very' glad my $120 back when this game was still in beta went towards getting these monstrous wastes of money.

Edit: Oh and here's the best evidence. I started out in the KC to master and then went to the DW to master. My K/D has gone from 0 to 1.89 in KC, to 1.42 in the DW to 1.19 in the Atlas. I go about three to four games without a kill in the Atlas, when I could count on 2+ in the KC and usually at least 1 in the DW.

I feel ya, though I have only bought with c-bills but I got tired of looking at the DDC and sold it, I'll buy it back when those mechs works like they should.

Were you running dual AC20s or Dual Gauss on the KC? High alphas usually mean more kills.

Luckily for me, I did Atlases way back at Launch, right after Catapults. So it wasn't too bad out there in Pugland. It was before Victors/Highlanders/Stalkers completely eclipsed them, before the poptart meta. The only advice I can offer is this: if you die in your Atlas with either arm left, you didn't do a good job twisting.

Yea, I am still basic and twisting is slow, so there is that, but I've never claimed to be good at this game and yet it keeps upping me in the tiers. T3 in a week, and I still need a lot more time to learn. Though even if I was able to distribute my damage better it still wouldn't make the Atlai fun, just a bit more bearable. Like a pretty nurse while I get the 6 hour root canal and colon exam.

Atlas is a great push-mech damage soak in a coordinated group.

It's big, it draws fire and it can absorb a ton. The people I see using them in 8-man groups go crazy short on the ammo, bigger engine and once they get rolling twist like mothers ...

... while the rest of their team comes in behind and kills the people shooting at the big scary Atlas.

.... or is your question about its purpose in CW or solo queue or some other limited use case?

I have never even played them yet, let alone bought one. I sure have had fun the last two years blowing the hell out of them

I remember one I came across in my Cent, on alpine and it turned out to be me and him, last mechs standing. At the end I baited him and stayed behind hills and kept hitting him with Srm6x3 and two med lasers...... he ended up dropping like a brick at the end. I had 5 kills that game I think.... it was a hell of a match man! :D

Not nearly as well as my KC and DWs could.

I tried that a while back and I've found lights kill me way too often from 1 shot of 6 small pulses lasers to the rear so I bumped it up to 5 point and still the same thing then I went to 14 or 20 and found thats my sweetspot. lol

It was more of a rhetorical question. But what I was talking about is what I've seen and used about the atlas and it's extreme underperformance vs other assaults and also stating loosely that it needs some big buffs.

I would not recommend 1 Rear Armor for PUG-Play - 10 to 20 for an Assault as you feel comfortable with and the enemy wont see you de-armored on your back bcs you got a scratch of Laser FF.

Twisting only if you have no DPS Weapons - i.e. if you run Ultra-AC5s you want to keep the enemy under fire under all circumstances and only twist if you back off/move in cover bcs it will lower your DPS so much the loss is bigger than the gain - twisting only works well with big engines and High-Alpha/Slow Cooldown Weapons.

I know that feeling, I wrecked one too with my WVR-6R(AC5+maxxed cooldown mod, 3 SRM4's, 1 med laser) both of us was 100% and I came out on top with 36% left, I did have a video but Nvidia's savefile became corrupt and lost 15 video's. :(
