Map selection and game mode is the stupidest idea . least all pick the same bloody map and game mode match after match .

Now if they could just figure out a way to keep me inside a match, oh look whats that over there! *points* An enemy lance close to the border! (voice over loud speaker "Mechwarrior, enemy mech formation closing on your position") <3 Much Love!
I guess I'll settle down from a full fledge persistent world of battletech. But please just fancy up the forever spinning waiting thing. Put us somewhere let us move around firing weapons and using mechs, let us move around in the gui. Something other then just staring off into space.

SRM hit detection sucks so I don't really care about that one.
Game mode selection - people shouldn't be forced to play modes they don't like
Map selection - you just killed a few maps.

Um... you realize it's a choice between two of the three game modes, and four out of however many maps are in the rotation (13 total)... so the odds are pretty good that the last map you played won't even be an option in the next game.
If they want to add a little complexity to the system, it could track the last map you played on, and place you in a game where that map won't be an option ... but that is probably an unnecessary step.

I believe you should lock their last used mech for a day if they're heavy repeat offenders
Nice colours fix too, it makes more sense to only see what you have.
2 billion c-bills? are people trying to earn interest or something, unless they've reached the end of the road and have all the mechs/modules etc.

Um ..... Do you realize its only a choice between Assault and Skirmish . No one votes for conquest and no one votes for Alpine peaks , terra therma , Viridian bog etc

The natural urge to NASCAR has resulted in every third assault match turning into a base race.

Less so if the game didn't decide to crash randomly at times. Usually just as a game starts.
Eh, 3 minutes is plenty of time to reboot client and reconnect. Unless your running the game on a toaster, in which case perhaps you deserve the penalty.

Really think about absolute power over your game mode. You really think 7+ game modes where anyone can pick 1 and only 1 is going to work with the population size we have? This is a change for the future though I'll grant it causes pain for some right now.
P.S.
Even Call of Duty completely removed several game modes because they didn't have enough people playing them to make matches.

If hypothetically 24 people vote for their perferred game mode, and skirmish is favored by 60% of people, conquest by 40%, (so not a huge difference in popularity) We would statistically expect only about 16.3% of games to be conquest, really sticking it to the minority.
With a 60% / 40% bias, these are the aproximate probabilities for the number of votes in favor of the less popular mode:
00: 0.00000473838 01: 0.0000758141 02: 0.00058124144 03: 0.00284162483 04: 0.00994568693 05: 0.02652183182 06: 0.05599053384 07: 0.09598377231 08: 0.13597701077 09: 0.16115793869 10: 0.16115793869 11: 0.13674006919 12: 0.09875671664 13: 0.06077336408 14: 0.0318336669 15: 0.0141482964 16: 0.00530561115 17: 0.00166450545 18: 0.00043153845 19: 0.0000908502 20: 0.0000151417 21: 0.00000192275 22: 0.000000174795 23: 0.000000010133 24: 0.000000000281474
In order for the less popular mode to be selected, it needs 13-24 votes out of 24, Adding these probabilities together gets us ~11.4% chance. Additionally add half of the value for the 12 vote outcome, since when that happens 50% of those will result in the less popular mode being selected. That gives us about a %16.36 chance, much less than how popular the mode actually is. I suspect that the difference in popularity right now between skirmish and conquest is actually much larger than 60%:40%, which would exaggerate the problem even more, to the point of almost never seeing conquest.
An alternative system that I think would be more equitable would be to randomly select the game mode AFTER players have voted for what they want, and weigh it based on the number of votes for each mode. in the same example, if 14 people voted for skirmish, and 10 people voted for conquest, (roughly 60/40% split) You would randomly select a game mode at ~%41.7 chance of conquest 58.3% skirmish. If 1 person votes for conquest, 23 vote for skirmish, the odds would be around 4.16% : 95.83%
There are a lot of factors like voter apathy that will probably make this not as bad as it comes out on paper, but I'm still pretty nervous. If I end up not getting a fair amount of conquest matches, that's going to sour my experience in MWO quite a bit. :<

As for the disconnect penalty, My internet does get flaky and drop me from time to time, but I can usually get back in in under 3 minutes. If it affects me and I'm legitimately trying to get back in, I'll be sure to report it, but other than that it just doesn't seem like a big deal.
