and yet those who are considered giants, did not contain themselves to the path of least resistance. Not that they didn't take advantage of it when needed, just that it was not how they walked their lives. Look up the life of folks like Tesla, Einstein, etc. Neither of whom was particularly interested in rewards, btw.
We can get super philosophical on motivation, reward, nature, and the human brain etc, but we are getting a little of topic. I feel the OP has a point. PGI could just start small, for example, I have been irritated since closed beta about the trees, I still play and enjoy the game, but the trees are just dumb. It took them what, about three years so trees could be run over by mechs?
Dynamic environment features would have gone a long way.
In any case, the population will never grow to a size to properly accommodate something like CW if little things that can easily get you killed are perceived to be buggy by new players...pebble problems have been around forever too.
There are so many games out there nowadays, it makes gamer's fickle, if they find something that annoys them they just move on to try the next new Nth game out there.
So if all the bitching out there helped with something as unbelievable as trees that don't fall apart to a mechanized vehicles weapons that can level whole cities, I say bring the QQ.
