P.S. it was a joke before anyone goes full SJW on here

The joke was funny.

Only an idiot can turn the term Social Justice into something negative, though.

HAHA! I cleverly placed only 1 point of armor on the front, and all the rest in the back. I also removed all the ammo for missile launchers and autocannos and replaced it with single heatsinks. CHECKMATE TOM!

Agreed, guess you need to adress that to SJWs. They and only they are the ones who did that.

While you address them, could you please ask them to change their names to SJA, Social Justice Advocates or something along those lines? I really can't take any group seriously when they define themselves as warriors.

Unless, to get back on topic, they are also MechWarriors! And even at that I can't take MechWarriors who whine excessively seriously either, the same mental filter I have that tunes out online ads now has finally kicked in for MW:O.

Dude, when was the last time you've checked how much it costs to hire a dominatrix to tie you up, hang you from the dungeon ceiling, beat you with a riding crop, and pour hot wax on you?

No way can the average solo dropper afford to do that on a regular basis, but CW is always there....

My understanding was that the whole MS-R system was put together as a cost saving measure. Marching dedicated sadists with MS-R members looking for discount abuse is one of the features MS offers!

I think in many of the arguments posted here two clearly distinguishable aspects get intermixed.
One aspect is skill as a solo player but also as a team player, which may be vastly different from oneanother, the other aspect being part of a (temporary) group along with the willingness to act in concert with the other members of said group.

Being able to dominate within a quickplay match, where basically only your own performance counts is quite a different experience to playing with a group which follows a strategy that may or may not include sacrificing some mechs in order to achieve a bigger goal.
The higher the level of communication and planning within your team as opposed to the other team, the higher the chances to win a game even when your team has the lesser skilled players. True, exceptionally good players can turn sides, but statistically it is the better organized team that wins the day.

And here starts and also ends the "problem" with solo players. If no form or organisation is achieved, they will lose to any halfway organized team. If they even face a high organized opposing team that also performs better than average, they are likely to get steamrolled, massacred, slaughtered, seal-clubbed or whatever you want to call it.
That leaves you, the solo player, with only two options:
a ) bring organisation into your team
b ) join an already organized team

Option a ) can be achieved through various means. You can drop call and thus take charge of your team, in hopes the rest of your team follows your lead. Or you follow someone else drop call. Having ingame VoIP enable is essential to this. Don't worry about making mistakes. Even a bad call is better than no call. And you will learn more about the game and organizing groups regardless wether you win or lose, call or follow someone elses call.

Option b ) can also be achieved through various means. Easiest way is joining an active unit. But most houses, hell, even most units welcome guests on their channels to join in organized drops. Most units are also willing to share their knowledge on optimized builds or preferable mech choices with guests.

If you drop solo, with VoIP disabled, don't expect a pleasant time in CW/FP. Few people have the time or skill to type tactical suggestions/commands while moving/playing.

So, in summary, my advice to solo players would be: Have VoIP enabled, and communicate. And maybe, just maybe, try to find a drop group in one of the public teamspeak servers. It normally enhances your gaming experience by magnitudes !

before i was one of those not willing to jump in CW aka FP, but one of my pals insisted and finally I like it now. Its something else to do ( already there isnt much to do in MWO ) sometimes I did drop with a organized group.. we won most of the time, when i was dropping with pugs I lost the match most of the time. I don't whine about it.

Team play is OP and should stay that way, it is the best weapon of the game. Solo players going in FW is for the big Cbills, they can do same in quick play and for them on the plus side they play quicker and more so all in all it get to same result.

when I do whine is for other matters.

the community has to admit that the content of the game is anorexic, far is the little everything for everyone.

Other than the heated debate I'm having over in GD about the whole dropdeck microtransactions, and that's more based on an ideal then actual gameplay, I've just only recently gotten into the FW scene. Started by playing as a PuG but, as a PuG in FW I pretty much considered my whining privileges revoked since I knew what I was getting into, which involves attempting teamwork with other PuG's and the occasional 12-man premade stomp.

Actually it got me to join a unit. Although admittedly I sort of started disliking FW because of the whining of the community which seems, at least to me, is split between two opinions. The first being that there needs to be a way to ensure more matches through either increased population being a big one, unit recruitment, less factions. The second being not letting new (or new to FW in some cases), outright against the concept of new players or mandatory barriers of entry to FW of some sort. They both have merit but are at odds with each other.

Well, at first, the wins were rare with 8 or so losses in between. But I learned the maps and what I should not do. Then since I wasn't an hindrance anymore, I wanted to win.

Then I searched for my faction Teamspeak and went into LFG. Since then, I find great people to play with, organise groups (often with 3-5 pilots without units and a few better players to lead) and win 8 out of 10 with great fun.

Time required to get Teamspeak: 3 minutes

Talent required to speak your way into good games : Speaking in english is not my forte, yet People understands and are ok with it. So unless you speak martian...no excuses

I'm still in my small unit with a few good friends, and it is still easy to find good/fun groups to play with. Since I began to play like that, I HATE public queue, where people only care for their hide and don't help each others (yes thoses are the whiners).

Quoted for truth. For absolute ****ing truth.

Every single player in FW, every single one, sucked at it when they started. Lost 80% of the time, made poor choices, brought bad mechs. We all did it. We climbed the Walk of Shame on Boreal, stood on the hill outside the gate and sniped while our teams pushed in. We all struggled with how to find groups to play with and what were good groups to play with in FW, all that stuff.

We all put in the time and energy and effort to work it out and, conversely, most of us are overjoyed to run into newer players who are trying to get over that same hump and we try to help them whenever we can. Conversely it's hard not to be contemptuous of people who want the same rewards without the same effort and instead want to nerf the byproduct of what all that effort to learn good coordination, communication and teamwork skills provides.

Props to you Psychorat. If it was easy it'd be quickplay and meaningless. It's why for all the broken stuff in FW those who've gotten over that effort hump still play it over QP, because as bad as it can be it's still 100x better than QP matches.

Great clapping shoulders and chest beating here. With all the elitist bla bla here you should all be part of the clans.

FW will remain a wasteland, as long as your view of how faction wars are supposed to be and the game mechanics work, don't change.

In the meantime, be the king, of your barren hill!

I don't really think it's a question over whining about FW anymore. That's done and dusted. Nope, it's pretty much clear that no amount of discussion on the forums will make an iota of difference anyway. Really, it's more about people "walking away" from FW and eventually from MWO all together.

The same people that are walking away from CW are the same people who think candy crush is unbeatable. They're the same people that think revolving doors are too confusing. They're the same people that were velcro shoes because laces are OP.

Funny about that. I would have thought that those people (seals) who hang around to be clubbed, are same ones who wear velcro shoes and get stuck in revolving doors. Unfortunately, the developers built an "end game" mode that is not enjoyable for the majority of it's individual player base. Maybe CW should only be for groups. If quick play is all there is for the individual player, then I'm sure that this gets stale and meaningless for some. It follows, that if you can't commit to a group, then you walk and seek enjoyment elsewhere.

Yeah yeah bla bla we herd it all before
I recommend you take your complaints to PGI
Tell PGI that pugs should never go against 12 man teams
They are supposed to fill in to help bigger teams and should never be more than 3 pugs on a drop against 12 man teams

Tell PGI you are in Cw to fight other organized teams not a bunch of seals

They tried that already, there isnt enough to PUGS to run a mode of their own. Hence why the queues were merged again and the butt hurt and whining has begun once again.

Broken mode is broken mode

In PGI's defense, they aren't in business to teach people how to be grownups.

Then if PGI are mature adults they should discipline these cry babies, change their diaper, and send them to bed. Solves all our problems pertaining to this argument.

The major issue with CW, is the organized play vs the unorganized play. You will always run into this issue no matter what team queue you are in.

There are no simple solutions and increasing weight is not really a solution to the issue as well. The separate queues was a good idea, but alas...not enough players in either to support it.

Instead of quoting "Learn to Play", "Get Better" and numerous other complaints, we should really soul search for possible solutions instead of poisoning peoples view of the game and possibly your Clan/House/Unit.

A possible solution is to rotate between team queues and solo drops. Instead of having this all occur at once, you can team queue as scouting while the solo queue is invasion.

As for solo drops, you click a button and are assigned a planet, There would be no I choose this planet with my friends...
