It's...not enough tools..the tools are horrible.

VOIP is MUMBLE..TEXT/CHAT Is VERY BASIC.

Game has almost ZERO tools. Not worth mentioning it.

We need some sort of commo rose

voip works fine for me.

tools available are plenty to create basic teamwork. commo rose wont make players actually LISTEN

I hate this tier crap. I couldn't say anything without someone saying "just get good" or call me out about tier. So I found out how to post it and all I get is "l33t, try hard" from haters.

I REALLY TRIED...

But its like talking to walls....in a room of 12 hungry people...you can try but they wont listen. SOME perhaps...SOME

It really sucks. I was part of a good unit before I moved so I know what it's like to work as a group. There's just to many yolo rambos out there that will chase the squirrels and bunker down to die no matter what you say. Right now is an especially difficult time because of the Steam influx. Some climbed up the PSR system quickly because they can aim but they just don't know the game. You really need to join a unit.

I turned off voip and have done just fine with text communication since closed beta.

Members of OLD/FRR can attest to the fact that I still text chat even when I have comms on.
^ actually anyone that has dropped alongside OLD in group/CW can verify reading my random texting while carrying conversation with the group on comms.

OP wants teamwork, but refuses to go down to any of the recruitment threads and join a team.

I see a lot of negative comments about the solo queue and the lack of team work there, from players who seem to not even know the meaning of the word.

I am sue their concept of team work is some guy on team speak telling everyone what to do. A bunch of hot air isn't team work.

Ever watch sports? Or real workers? I can asure anyone from personal experience there isn't a lot of chatting going on. Actually there isnt any at all.

Shouldn't people quit when they die, so they can drop on another mech ASAP? Posted Image

Long time players maybe, but new or newish players really should stick around for two reasons. First, so that they don't miss out on rewards from assists that they may get after death, and two which is probably the most important is for them to watch how the game plays out and see what other people do and how they build their mechs. Sticking around to watch is a good way to learn some things. That and it is nice to see the end results in my opinion.

There was a couple matches I ended up T-Wolf hunting.
The more memorable one was on Frozen flying past Theta and two of em were there. Had to get a little creative to manage that situation, but I think you might have been on my team for that one.

Definitely not me down there in my Timby. Anything but a fast light or a dedicated light hunter in Jenner Highway is a serious pet peeve of mine.

Where are you tonight? Oceanic is starting to pick up.

You get your assists anyway as long as you actually die before disconnecting.

More on topic. The matches I have been in have been great and nothing like the topic is about. Maybe its the newbie tier matches or something. If so wait until the higher tiers and its a lot better. From my experience anyway.

I'm between bus routes, weather has been all fcky today. Snow into rain into sleet into rain, and it was snowing again the last time I went out - not very conducive to trying to focus my eyes on a game. Probably hop on for a few matches in like 3 hours or so.

Solo queue is a great time. Only down side is the occasional D-bag who tries to crap on others. But they are the exception rather then the rule and you get the added bonus of after the match they are no longer around you

Also most peoples ideas of teamwork involve them telling others what to do.

WORST game ever. How is SOLO QUE even fun!!

I am TIER 2 and i see constant dumb people everywere...one team gets rolled and everybody just quits when they die

This is no game for teamwork. The players here are bad at attempting TEAMWORK

Just remember that people are not going to be a puppet? Trust me when I say myself and many others feel your pain. But in the end the only way you're going to get a group of guys to work together is in a unit 12v12 drop. Community Warfare is great for that. :) Otherwise, just kindly suggest maneuvers and positions to the rest of your "quick drop" team mates and hope for the best... OR... watch them and react to them. Maybe you should help them instead of them helping you. ;)

OP, sorry, but while I totally hear ya, nevertheless I gotta bust your chops a bit here...

I think the game has provided sufficiently in re the tools necessary to lead with.
As to VOIP, I have never understood the criticism of this aspect of the game. I mean, I play on a 7 year old laptop with crap settings, and yet VOIP is clear as a bell.
As to other tools: Try taking company or lance command and using the map tools to place markers to direct the game. Call out or even just type in coordinates or commands. In pug drops all of these things can be used. IMHO if you use these things the majority of players -new and old- will respond appropriately. They really will.
Yes, there is almost always 1-2 players who think they know better or just want to do their own thing, but them's the breaks. Yes, there will be games where some idiot gets on after you try and take lead and gives totally contradictory or worse nonsensical advice (my favorite: "stay with your lance and don't group up"...this might be the start of a plan, but by itself, it is not a plan, but I digress).

The point is: the resources are there and more often than not if they are used people will respond in a positive way. Unless you use these resources, you have no complaint about pugs acting like pugs.

You're proposing not chatting then? I have more trash to talk about the solo que than anyone, and it's exactly because I know what teamwork is. Anyone who thinks they can hop on coms and get a response more often than not is in a fairytale land.

There's 2 kinds of players in MWO:
- Those who are willing to work as a team.
- Those who aren't.

There are Tier 1 meta overlords from comp units that fall into the latter category, and a lot of times they get rolled as a result, because they foolishly think they can clutch a win against, "lesser skilled plebs," when their team completely drops the ball. Others, like JagerXII from SJR, often will take command of the game, because they realize that even though they may have the skill, along with a powerful mech, it all means nothing if the team falls apart.

Players in both categories exist in all tiers, in all units, in solo, group, and CW queues. It's the most basic generalization of the player base as a whole, but it's the truth. There are team players, and non-team players. Simple as that.

The absolute best solo queue match I've ever had in this game, was on Terra Therma. JagerXII was on the other side, so I knew he would likely be commanding his pug army. I didn't see any JagerXII equivalents on my side, so I took command, and the first thing I did was tell my team to NOT go the center, because the other team was the side that had the quicker route to center.

The match eventually timed out with the score at 9-10. My side lost, but it was a very dynamic battle. Both Jager and myself had non-team players that refused to listen to orders and got themselves killed as a result. The score was neck and neck the entire 15min. They held center, but we held the lower bridge and had good firing lanes. Neither team ever had a comfortable kill advantage, so both sides had to actively engage each other.

There's definitely teamwork. It's just some days you find yourself mixed with too many non-team players, and there unfortunately isn't anything you can do about it.

I had Voip on, but I've developed a problem with people continuing to talk incessantly after they die.

Last match with it on was steam day with a "Commander" that wouldn't stfu after he died. Kept carrying on about how we were going to lose because he was dead, how we should have saved him, how his precious group queue people would listen to him, don't tell me to stfu because you are trying to play, blah blah blah.

Curiously he didn't have much to say when he saw my 890 damage and 7 kills that did a good part of winning the match despite his lack of leadership skills.

TBH, I really see the difference with the Steam release.

Matches are pure horror in solo que, and even in group que if I drop with less than a lance of friends.

Tiers not working at all, since it's a "grind thing".
