Yeah that works for stuff like the Ebon Jaguar, Centurion, and various other BT designs that were, at best, eyebrow-raising. That doesn't work for designs that were already mostly fine. MWO's Awesome looks like a Battletoad, and the Warhawk is pretty much just a different version of the Dire Wolf. There's a difference between giving a design a makeover, and throwing out even the most central elements of a design for something entirely different(e.g., inverting the Warhawk's cockpit, making the Awesome a wall instead of a pillar, and turning laser cannons into Lego cubes).

Honestly, the reason I've been able to get most of the Clan mechs to look right is because the MWO Clan models were already quite solid in its design when compared to the old BT looks. Of course there's a number of incorrect proportions that needed adjusting, but it mostly looked okay already.

Also, there's actual orthographic schematics of the Clan mechs that I can find from Google Images, which helps a lot when trying to get the proportions right. On the contrary, there's next to no available schematics for most of the IS mechs that I can find anywhere. So I had to eyeball most of them from artist impressions like line arts and miniatures. Not to mention a lot of the MWO IS mechs from the beta days were very radical in their design, which makes for a much more difficult proportion edit.

Some of those proportion tweaks are really subtle, or at least I'm not seeing it. What changed in Timby and Summoner?

Arms on both, and legs on Timber, are skinnier.

Timber's torso is less bulky and blockish - the "box" section that makes up the rear half of the torso is skinnier, especially under the arms. It also leaves more open space between the missile launchers. Its upper and lower leg sections are also no longer in-line.

Summoner's torso above the hips is just smaller all around. Like, way smaller. I'd guess the volume of its torso is about 70%, if not even less, of what it is in MWO.

Despite my paralyzing fear of the ugly that was the original King Crab, I'm actually somewhat curious what that would look like.

Also, despite being new to Battletech (my only previous experience being MechAssault), I must say that the Warhawk pisses me off tremendously. I'll see one in combat and think "oh look, a Dire Wolf" and then the targeting thingamajigger will bluntly correct me.

Kinda what they did with the f*cked up pitiful excuse for a Marauder we got... Oh boy I would have bought this rescaled version of it in a heartbeat.

P.S. LOL I love how the poor warhawk shuts down from overheating

On a side note, I've got a few more updates down the line and also a couple new mechs WIP too. I can't say for sure when they'll be ready though. Been kept busy with job and home renovations.

I'm starting to get the feeling that these works are just fueling the fires of hatred for PGI's/Alex's designs. I'm all for getting our mechs to look better and more functional in-game, but there's no need for anger towards someone's personal art style. Criticism is welcome, but keep it classy. Posted Image

Love the arm flailing Marauder. As for using more 'bt true' models, I think some current mechs look better - the Catapult for sure. The tiny boxes are ridiculous. I DON'T like the PGI philosophy that additional weapons in a hardpoint demands more boxes on your mech, but what can I do?

What I would like to see is an overall pass at making mechs the correct SIZE IN RELATION TO THE GAME WORLD. I'm tired of mechs that seem to be Godzilla.

Ebon Jaguar is Battle Stool! And PGI catapult still looks better even if it's too large.
Awesome and Banshee should be trransferred into game right now! And Warhawk and Dire Wolf hands much higher then in game now, so it will be really great change. )

You know, although I too would have preferred that... I'd be OK with leaving the 'Mechs at the ridiculously huge sizes they are, if only they FELT that big while you were piloting them. Even that would mean changing a ton of stuff though... 1) in-cockpit models are horribly huge, 2) there is no first-person bob, 3) free-look is very restricted and "pull-to-center," not truly free, 4) the 'Mechs' walk/run animations are so drastic that any "pilot" inside them would turn to a wobbly pile of red mush after a few steps, which is exacerbated further by the disparity between that and the complete LACK of movement in first-person, 5) map elements are very very clearly designed as 'Mech ARENAS, (not actual urban/rural/military/etc. areas) with rocks and trees just big enough for 'Mechs to use and just far enough apart for 'Mechs to walk between, 6) overall map terrain (hills, grassy patches, streams, etc.) is relatively the same as it would be if you weren't in a 'Mech - you see the same terrain features you'd expect to see as an infantryman, but since you're big, so are the terrain features. ALL of these aspects, along with a few less significant ones, keep you from really "feeling" the size of your machine. Which is all the more egregious because of just how huge most of the machine in MWO are, compared to their canon sizes. But I could live with the oversizing, if I at least felt it anywhere outside of switching 'Mechs in the Academy...

Really cool classic redesigns! Hope to see you do some more, there's a lot of classic mechs that needs a update.
