i think more then enough people told you how to deal with your precived problem. use your cover, use the trenches, dont skyline all the time, get in close using brawler builds through the trenches. if it worked for us then odds are it will work for you.

And bring Radar Deprivation and AMS. ECMs in the team also help a lot.

Even if LRM friendly, the map is the most interesting so far for exercising "military" maneuvers. I saw some brawler teams rolling over the defensive LRMs and long range opponents with great success.

I don't understand why people say no one can force them to do something they don't want to do. Man, we are forced to do things we don´t want every day, all the time. Living in society, you know...

Want to keep it lore friendly? Give Omnimechs the ability to choose preset loadouts before the game but not IS or Clan battlemechs. Not sure how you'd balance that out in the PUG queue but...

Maybe a reduction in earnings or something if they chose to change their loadout right before the match? Somebody has to pay the techs...

I'd be all for Clan omnis being able to hot swap omnipods during the map select and if they can't do it in time and drop without arms or legs I'd be all for that too. Honestly though, it's just one of those things that wouldn't be worth the development time to implement.

I hope the positive feedback motivates them to make more maps like this.

Now we need a desert (with mesas?) and moon map. ;)

I feel like playing MW2 again, and that's great!

Hmm... I seem to remember our unit being given the chance to prepare our gear to match the environment before we were deployed. We knew where we were heading. Generally guys wouldn't pack polar kit for a tropical deployment. MWO doesn't give you that option.

In real (Battletech) life, you can't change the weapons of your mech before a battle (except for the omnis - and even them depend on the available omnipods). Jeez, most mechwarriors never customized a thing in their mechs for their entire lives. And you certainly can´t choose which of your mechs you will use because you have only one mech.

Also, sometimes you don´t have time to prepare for a battle: the battle comes to you and you fight with anything you get at hand.

The techs don't get executed. That's payment enough.

I stopped playing for a year got back into it. They introduced this map and now am I am done again. It wouldn't be so bad if people weren't trying to play it so much. I started playing along time ago and the goal was to avoid Lrms the best you could. with this map its near impossible. Incoming missile pisses me off and and I don't want to hear the "play smart" and blah blah blah. You all are ar tards and need to get your chromosome count checked again. Solo Pug drop forget it. I never write posts and nothing has ever made me more angry than this map. I don't ever comment or write ****. I buy the occasional MC but this thing is just intolerable.

As for this...

If a battle comes to you, you're either in a base or in the near surrounds in which case you're familiar with the area and the general conditions and have adapted your load out to suit, or you spend weeks and perhaps months in a drop ship between planets specifically heading for an assault zone, in which case you have time to prep for your destination.

Either way, the assaulting side will have prepared, and the defending side will be ready. Where two sides come together in the middle of nowhere, they both would have already kitted their mechs for the area they're in.

The situation we have in MWO is more like what you'd get if two opposing drop ships collided on a random planet while heading to a different area entirely. Not likely.

You may have issues outside of MWO you should work on though, if nothing has ever made you more mad then this map things can not be that bad. Plenty of people here have the prerequisite amount of chromosomes as well as supply a steady flow of funding into MechWarrior and are quite happy with the outcome of this new map. With or without LRMs. If you can not figure out how to get in a ditch and escape, nor do you want to play smart and feel the need to blame your failings on playing with random groups of people.. Perhaps you would be better off not spending your money on occasional MC.

If a game ever causes you this much personal distress, you should stop playing. There are plenty of other games where the threat of LRMs isn't present. The game isn't likely to change in the future either in the ways you're outlining.

I don't know what other games you play, but dealing with LRMs is like learning to ward properly in League of Legends or keep map control in Starcraft. It's all about awareness, but the specific solutions aren't preached to you by the game. Once you can deal with LRMs, you might feel as many do, that the new map is the best of the bunch with the most sophisticated strategy ceiling.

There is a correlation between one's tier and their ability to handle LRMs on the receiving end, but really it comes down to lessons yet to be learned. The ar tards have learned these (relevant) lessons.

yeah have had a few more matches now i've played polar maybe 9 times and it's been fun every time... gone out in brawlers lurm boats sml lsr lights even my ac/20- 4 srm6 atlas faired well. the map has MORE HILLS THAN YOU CAN COUNT, tell me if it's so flat then why is it that you cannot see the enemy team till you've walked halfway across the map and finally one fast mover catches sight of them. when you start on that map take 3 seconds and look directly in front of you.... see those hills THEY BLOCK LOS oh and TRENCHES ARE INDENTATIONS LIKE CHANNELS THAT YOU CAN HIDE IN

that map has more pock marks than a 15 year old's face HIDE IN THEM (sorry take cover in them)

oh me oh my is this thread still going lol polar is polarizing i guess, i suggest for a month pgi rescale polar to redonkulously big... (8x's larger than it is now) and run a tukayyid type event called "hope you enjoy this map cuz we do" first prize.. actually all the prizes are chances to play more polar... only polar.. forever

There's nothing wrong with DICE themselves, it's EA looking over their shoulders what makes it so bad. I mean, now that BF4 has fallen off of EA's radar, it's been getting some awesome DLCs and patches.

So I took a break before this map came out to play another game that released. Came back to try the new map and every game has just been large lasers forever. Anyone who uses a close or mid-range mech is just fodder for the blender so it just becomes a snipe fight like every other pub match before, only now there's no cover to use to sneak up behind the snipers and shoot them. The map's at least clear I guess, but that just means people are firing lasers non-stop at little tiny moving pixels across the whole damn map. You can shout about ECM all you want, but this isn't an issue ECM solves. You can see all the enemies moving around just by looking easily because there's nowhere to move or hide.

Except there is plenty of space to move unseen, just use the gullys. Even the tallest mechs are easily concealed in most of them.

AMS and Cover usage are a given, but I have to comment on the Radar Derp... it is 15000 GXP to unlock and 6kk cbills to buy. And that is to equip ONE mech, unless you want to swap modules every time you take a different mech.

My point is, having Radar Derp as sort of a prerequisite to not get swamped by LRMs or ambushed constantly is kind of... off-putting for newer players, quiaff? If they even know about its importance... I am not that new anymore, and just now I am close to unlocking that module. There were so many other mechs and interesting things that grabbed my attention before, and until I noticed how important this module actually is, it was too late to quickly get it.

Some modules are nearly useless... others are almost mandatory, it seems. This needs to be adressed.
