1. Start the match.
2. Ask if anyone has TAG or LRM
3. If you get noob abuse, you will probably lose
4. If no one says anything at al, you will probably lose
5. If people actually say Yes, or No, or heaven forbid, get more detailed, you have a good chance of winning

I tend to make this test with a little chat about bacon.

I don't get it.

LRM is bad. Why would you want LRM?

It isn't a test of loadouts. It's a test of the other players character.

I used to do something g similar. At the start of a match I would ask "Do we have a plan or are we just winging it?" if I got silence or flippant responses I knew to expect a poor match. If I got levity or an actual plan it tended to be a good match.

"Should I eat Tacos for dinner today, or maybe get a hamburger?"

*no response*

"Crap, we are going to lose so bad!"

Honestly, I don't see much correlation. Sure teams that communicate (effectively) should do better and probably do, but I have been on brutally effective quiet teams, Teams that comm and get torn apart, and see LRM statements practically every game (good or bad).

I don't count a game a loss until I lose.

It's not a failsafe. It's a barometer.

This test won't work for me, cuz I have shut all chats off. There is nothing useful, other players can say to me via chat in pug queue, there is nothing useful I can say to them too.

I find that a better "barometer" than silence over chat.

Battlegrid in about 15-20 secs after match start. You can't be mistaken looking at it when you are going to lose. When you can't tell - you have chances to win thou.

Ingame chat on the other hand - lolz, r u serious?

Lack of communication early is always a fairly bad sign, no matter what is being talked about. The absolute worst situation is this:

"So do we go upper or lower, guys?"
<SILENCE>
"Looks like they're going upper."
<SILENCE>

At that point, you may as well prepare your colon.

Because some people like variety, rather than use the same cookie cutter builds match after match.

I've noticed when there is a lot of trolling going on in the pregame, game, it's more than likely going to be a tough match.

I just assume we will always lose......Ofc, that determination can be made a few seconds after the timer kicks off.....if your team goes off in 3 lances, your ******. if your team actually starts to move together, it might just be a half way decent game.

LRMS get a bad rap man. If it werent for LRMS my brother would not be able to play this game. He is severely mentally and physically handicapped. He uses his right hand on a track ball to control the mechs aim and torso, and blows in and out through tubes to move the mech and launch lrms. Luckily other people can get locks for him so he can still aim generally in the right direction and get kills.
