Not meaning to call you out, but in case others missed this... MWO date is currently December 3048 Clan invasion starts in 3049

August 3049 is when they made an appearance at the edge of the Periphery.

Wave 1 (the first attacks of anything non-Periphery/Bandit Kingdoms) of Operation Revival didn't start till March 3050

What matters more to me than the look is the motion. Growing up on MW2 has given me this image of the Timber Wolf almost galloping, it's very graceful as I remember. Mostly the long strides are what made it awesome, and I always hated it to see it stomp around menacingly.

I've got to echo that, and the same goes for my vision of the Vulture. None of hte other mechwarrior games quite captured the sense of "Running/Sprinting/Galloping" every mech just kind of stomped quicker as they accelerated. MW:LL Pulls it off fairly well with some of the light mechs, but has a ways to go with the heavies.

The original design looks far too impractical and fragile imho
I hope Alex manages to give timby a more realistic appearance without changing the key features for which we love it so much :-)

I vote for a hearty re-boot...

The design visually and operationally is completly illogical. From the greenhouse cockpit to the stove-pipe arm assemblies to the implausible ammo-feed mechanism for the missile pods... not even mentioning the whole "Hey...shoot my big'ol missile pods"... design flaw.

For a chicken-walker... it's an artistic masterpiece. For a practical war machine, it's the equivalent of duct-taping a howitzer on a tricycle and calling it a tank.

wow... did I really say all that out loud? ;)

Blasphemy!!! I trust FD's artistic tastes... However if he flattens the Madcats nose like that of the catapults... I will make bad things happen... Like really angry emails!!! Beware...

it needs to lose the boxy shape of hull we're so used to. that type of armor offers zero deflective properties. it needs sloped/angled armor, in other words. see how the round cockpit just attaches to the box in the back? the connection needs to sloped and tapered

Personally, I think it'd be awesome if Omnimechs had a completely different visual style from IS tech. If I had my way, that look would be sleek and sexy - like a Sherman tank knocked up a Ferrari. I want Ferro-Fibrous armor to look like fiberglass; I want the Mad Cat to look like the only thing it's missing is racing stripes.

No accounting for taste, I guess. Honestly, though, I'm not too worried about whether the team is gonna do the Mad Cat justice. They made the Catapult look cool, ffs. The Catapult.

Best looking Timber Wolf is the classic one.
To me it has everything in spite of "sucking-straw" arms or "greenhouse" cockpit. In spite of what self proclaimed "experts" think operational logic means. ;)

Oh, don't get me wrong... The Cat is a sexy beast. (Especially your attached render) I'd dry-hump that thing like a love-sick blue-tick hound! :P

That said, while I agree it needs to conceptually keep it's trademark shape and styling... It needs a little FD love'n to maybe bulk-up a bit (I'd recommend 3 sets of close-grip push-ups and 3 sets of bicep curls to get rid of those girly arms) imbues a little testosterone into the design and get mean.

It's a classic no doubt... But for me it's a pretty Clan Mech that grandma would drive to church on Sundays.

Sorry in advance for the negative post, I never liked the madcat, the cockpit makes it look like a walking egg, in fact my friends and I call them "Humpty-Dumpties". So IMHO I think its needs a total redesign. I'll get to redesigning it now..... won't look like an egg after I get done with it.

The render I've posted is easly the best 3d model of a classic Timber Wolf around, thanks to Punakettu (I believe his/her signing nick is - spelling?).

Don't get me wrong. I love "modernism" in mecha designs. But here we're talking Battlemechs of BattleTech??? Anyone? Sounds a bell?
Otherwise we'll risk in getting "Ferraris" and "Lamborghinis" á la ArmoredCore or the Japanese Manga crap all over again... ;)
