I think the most interesting part here would actually be the enhanced version of the MC 2. Mainly because it can load 25 tons of amour. Though it will probably only be standard amour and not hardened amour.

In comparison a Atlas can only bring up to 19.2 tons of amour.

BTW Russ himself has said on Dev VLog or something that "Imperius will eventually get his Mad Cat Mk. II." (paraphrasing).

He has said that yes numerous times in townhalls. Also on twitter he hint he would be surprised if it didn't show up this year (2017)

Looking forward to this mech so much. One of my favorites from when I was a kid playing MW4M. Siege Engine looks like a beast of a Hero Mech too. I think there should be a Hero Mech called "Alpha" which is essentially an up-armored, gunned-up version of the Timber Prime. Say, four LRM15 racks, four Machine Guns, two Large Pulse Lasers and two Medium Pulse lasers with a downsized engine?

I've built something along my line of thought in Smurfy using a Highlander IIC as a template. The LBX stands in for the Medium Pulse Lasers and the quartet of Machine guns because I ran out of slots, otherwise it is exactly as I envision it. Truly a "Big Alpha Wolf" as you put it in your post title. Here's the link if anyone's interested: http://mwo.smurfy-ne...4d41c6f8cd55e74

Meh, this junker should just stay in the trash. Seriously the Timberwolf MK2 was nothing more than a cashgrab. It literally has the firepower of an 80 tonner in a 90 ton package. It's main claim to fame, dual Gauss arms, is better run by a mech two thirds it's weight. Beyond that, there is no point to it, especially when there are so many better options to choose from.

You acting pissy about it every time it's brought up is really pathetic.

It's the same reason people want the Blood Asp, or wanted the Urbanmech, or the Archer, or the Warhammer, or literally any mech in the game right now. Someone liked the mech from Battletech lore or games. Everyone wants their favorite mech in the game, so of course we want this one in.

Sigh, Req...I will say this once, it is fine you do not like the mech, that is your opinion. Fact is, your opinion is not the only one that matters here though. You getting all upset over this mech won't change how PGI feels about it. You have to accept the mech is a cash cow waiting for PGI to milk it. It's popular, it's not a bad mech. It is the best 90 ton Battlemech the Clans have access to. It has the best engine cap, optional hover jets, and decent free tonnage to play with. If you do not like the mech for several reasons fine, you do not have to buy it. But you have to accept the fact..it is a good chance for it being the March mech. It probably will be here sometime this year regularless.

So please stop this temper tantrum over it, it's annoying and it's not even a discussion for you, it's flat out insulting the way you carry on the shouting match.

I still say they should re do her as a 85t unit, just make her more efficient.

As i stands, with all nostalgic mechs in MWO:

...

Yeah, that's the optimal spot (tonnage) for a jumping Assault.

She would be able to do 2Gauss+2ERPPC with 12x DHS and 3x Class II JJs.

Not ideal but still decent. Remove the JJs and put 3 more DHS to make it 15.

But it would be a heresy. Clan scientists/engineers can't math.

Well I wouldn't go that far, the Timber Wolf is in the sweet spot, the Mk III is in the sweet spot, the Mk IV was just dumb a addition, but the Mk II, at 85t would be in the perfect spot, at 85t she can run the exact same build as the 90t version with 1t left over....

But with less crit slots because of 1 less engine heatsink capacity. Not that it really matters anyway.

When I say identical builds I mean identical builds, the Mad Cat Mk. II only has 13 DHS in TT, you can fit an additional 3 DHS into a 340 series (4*85 = 340), the only advantage that the 90t unit has, is that it could fit a fourth DHS into it's 360 series engine, if it had 14 DHS.

As it stands, both with 13t of FF armour (it's armour in TT, 1t under for max optimal for a 85t mech, 2t under max optimal for a 90t mech), 13 cDHS, 2 cGR, 2 cLRM/10's, 4 cERML, 4t GR ammo, 2t LRM ammo, 3 JJ's with an Endo Steel frame, 85t just does it a little more effectively, that 1t savings could be a 4th DHS, or a 4th JJ or maxing out the armour, all with out giving anything up, so why 90t I can only guess it was Microsoft, and CGL just went with it.

Yeah sorry for the confusion. I mean in general - that a 85 tonner will have 2 less crit slots if it wants to match speed with a 90 tonner and put lots of DHS (more than 10 + the 90 tonner's max engine heatsink cap). This is only taken into consideration if you want to mount a good number of DHS like in an energy + missile build, for example.

No problem HtD, but with how MWO does engines on battle mechs, and what we've seen with the MAD-IIC, an 85t Mad Cat Mk. II would have an engine cap of 400 anyways, so engine DHS in MWO is a moot point anyways. In TT I will grant you, that having that extra internal DHS is nice, but I'm not sure it's worth the engine weight increase, as all DHS are true DHS in TT.

Ah yes, the Mad Cat Mk.II, my Mech of choice when I played MW4: Mercenary and did the way to join Clan Wolf.
