It is not the reason why people don't play CW. Its awfully boring to mastered another mech... gameplay improvement, the new modes and new maps that is MWO really needed.

If the angry kitty Mk. II comes, I hope it is everything that everyone that wants one, wants it to be. But when you get right down to it, it's a 90t mech with a 360 series engine, it's not going to twist as fast as a Timber Wolf, it is not going to be as agile as a Timber Wolf and it will not be as fast as a Timber Wolf. The main reasoning for this is, well the Timber Wolf is both 15t lighter and has a 375 series engine...

When we look at both the Timber Wolf Hit boxes and the Ebon Jaguar hit boxes, we can extrapolate what the Hit boxes for the Mk. II would look like, as the arms are more Ebon Jaguar like, with the torso being more Timber Wolf like:

Base on what I see with these images, I would imagen the arms will cover about 50-66% of the ST's on the Mk. II, still leaving it open to CT and ST hits from the side, once the arms are gone, I would suspect that it could be cored out fast from any direction due to the size of the CT hit box.

But like I said, I hope it is everything people want it to be, to the people that want one. Me? I'm just happy to play with my newseens for the first time in nearly 20-something years.

If I may ask a couple of questions, what is the vent on the top for, is it for the targeting optics of the weapon systems?

the second point I would suggest, is to add an ejection port for the lower ballistic mount some where around the elbow.

So, the irony of this statement is that the Mad Cat Mk.II is pretty much the opposite of that statement.

As such, it is NOT "a symbol of how the Clans changed and adapted to the new battlefields".

- I was going for it to be another vent port, I was 50/50 for that or in the TRO artwork is it an optical laying drive kinda deal.
- GREAT idea I will add that when I get a chance!

I am just playing around with it right now. I passed it along to Alex as well on Twitter...The idea is maybe if they can do it for the Madcat Mk.II maybe more mechs that have such designs can get them as well.

The "lower barrel" is the actual Gauss Rifle barrel, the "upper barrel" is a venting port added by the CDS engineers, and the targeting optics are actually on the top-side of the arm (the small square bit near the back of the main hexagonal structure, just forward of the arm cowling & the front of the missile launcher).

For a vent port, i would either have it top mounted with a rear angled system, this would allow it help fight recoil as an other ballistic weapon aside from Gauss would have recoil, failing that I would have it on the upper side, against expelling out to the side and back for two reasons, the one I stated above, as well and to help prevent view point obstruction.

I tend to look at mech as less tank like, and more Gunship like, as such having obstructions (more than required) in a cockpit is just asking for trouble. It's why I love the cockpit from the YF-19 Excalibur from Macross plus so much...



This view was sometimes a pain in the *** for me, as I flew second seat, but at other times it was good.

To be fair, the TRO describes it as a vent port.

Even then, there is no real reason for a Gauss Rifle to need such a vent port:
  • As a coilgun, the Gauss Rifle has no propellant gases that would require venting in the first place (which also makes muzzle breaks and gas-vent systems (in the style of the "recoilless rifles" - which are neither truly recoilless, nor often true rifles) of little use with regard to recoil compensation).
  • As a very-low-heat weapon (one "point" of heat per firing), there would be little or no need for an additional venting system for the Gauss Rifle as compared to, say, an ER Medium Laser (five "points" of heat per firing).

I see where I made an error, I put "an" rather than "any".

As for a Gauss needing any kind of venting, you're right, it shouldn't. That's why I asked him if it was for the targeting optics for the weapon.

yes, but not to the same degree as up to an 8" gun, the largest recorded size of a class 20 clan UAC (203mm), found in the Ebon Jaguar Alpha variant.

The reason people don't play CW is simple.

The maps suck. The game modes suck, and the lack of a player base within it suck.

But that argument is moot because its a Clan Battlemech, not an omni. You can put a CXL400 in it with the way MW:O works and engine ratings.

Also, no one expects it to go as fast or be as nimble as a Timberwolf anyway. The MadcatMk_II's strength relies in that its literally a larger, heavier gunned Timberwolf that is supposed to actually have Jump Jets.

Granted, Jump Jets in this game are f*****d and anything over 90tons cannot actually jump regardless of number of jets, so I digress.


The real reason people want to play it though, is because its a iconic 'mech that just looks sexy (myself included).
