Kindve jumping the gun since theres no evidence the MK2 will ever be in the game.
And hopefully it wont be added ever. Because then people might STFU about it.
Well PGI is aimming to add as many mechs in game that fits the criteria for MW: O. Which as it was for a long time was...
Is a mech by current year
3 variants by current year.
Have equipment by current year. [extinct/ still lostech / prototype does not count]
Is a bipedal mech [No Tripod, Quad, Quadvee. And LAM's do not count]
That is the common criteria for a long time but has changed slightly. It removed the 2nd rule and has allowed PGI made up variants to be added. Example:The additional Enforcers [only 1 variant by timeline], The Shadowcat P [based on the Shadowcat J], etc.
BUT The rule has been changed even more recently after the announcement of the kodiak. Which had 2 variants by timeline (the Kodiak 5 barely scraped on in as 3052- the current year). PGI could have made up variants but for some of the earlier mechs (ie Shadowcat P) but than PGI has a problem: Literally all Kodiaks even the 3100 variants have the tech and weapons of this time period and Isn't OP... if they make up variants they will have the same hardpoints and more or less same weapons so they modifide the 2nd rule and to an extent the first rule...
You can have mechs in the game that are out of timeline but have the tech and equipment of our era.
This means the Argus... Thanatos... Cougar... Mad Cat II, Mad dog II, Mad dog III, Mad dog IV (not the main variant), Osiris, Owens, Bloodasp, etc could be added now...
So with these new rules- Mad Cat II is just as likely to be the next mech in game as the Argus. However there may be a bit of bias at play in mech selection, 2 things specifically: 1) does it offer anything new to the game? [is it more or less identical to another mech? if so than let's leave it for later...], 2) mechs within timeline are more likely to be added (hence why no Kodaik II's are being added).
Mad Cat II does offer many new things for a clan assault however it is out of timeline meaning we MIGHT see the Stone Rhino, Kraken, etc before it... however Mad Cat II is a beloved mech from MW4 and icon of the 3060's.. a symbol of how the clans changed and adapted to the new battlefields.
So many people want it in game as well as the Cougar and a few other mechs. This is why it may come early.
The other main supporting evidence of the Mad Cat II being added is that MW: O timeline moves in a 1:1 scale to IRL, last year was 3051, this year is 3052, next year is 3053 ,etc... meaning when we do hit the year for Mad Cat II it'll be added most likely.
So PGI has the intention on adding it. The problem is we do not know how early we'll get it (ie by 3066? aka 2030?)
Possibly. We are running out of mechs to add, all mechs in timeline for assault clans are like... 5? 7? That's enough to last 2 and a half years and one of them has a hardwired STD engine... the other one will make the Direwolf look UP as well...
Mad Cat II is also the least OP option from the list of post 3052 mechs... for eg the Bloodasp has twin gauss up top and ECM as well as able to carry laser vomit (I know it has heavy lasers stock but it's only 4 years till we'll get it in 1:1 relation and even BT itself break it's own rules as some mechs have weapons before the weapon was even produced widly even though that variant is... what?)
There is quite a bit of evidence to say PGI will add it as it fits many criteria: uses tech of our era. is a biped, etc... it's also a bit biased towards as it's an icon, fave of many people, and lastly but not least: it isn't an OP and easier to ballance than the normal Timberwolf.
However I personally wish more people want these guys in first...
I mean here we got a famous heavy mech (due to the toy / mw4)
An ECM heavy mech that's up to date for IS that requires no inflations to make it unique
The most famous heavy mech to counter the clanners and an omnimech (first heavy omni?)
A slower adder made to make people cry by sheer firepower.
Possibly the most OP light the IS will ever get
And Duncan Fishers fave mech... I will have so much fun in this thing you can not comprehend.
Wish more people raised awareness of this and/or made a thread to show all the possible mechs that could be added due to the new rules... maybe the Ultimate Battlemech Dicusion thread already started that, let me check...

This statement is so wrong it's funny. People will keep talking about the MKII until they add it. Have you seen anyone talking about the Urbie once it's added?
Quite a bit, however the discussions died down a little bit when the classic mechs came in. I mean more people talk about the urbie than the vindicator.

actually no one was talking about the madcat MK2 till imperius started this whole sh*tstorm.
I am pretty sure people always been talking about it and it was the news Russ said we can have mechs with tech outside of timeline if they got tech in our timeline can be added. Imperius is just the first one to say it. He wasn't the igniter or catalyst...

because no one was talking about it before when they didnt think there was a chance it could be added.
the kodiak being added from 3060s and imperius not STFU is what started this whole madcat mk2 thing.
They have. Even back in 2012...

A few threads closest to wanting it in game, the rest is just discussing it or are threads mentioning multiple mechs. (ie Argus)
I am rather neutral on the whole idea of the Mad cat II. I do want it in game but would like mechs in timeline and around timeline sooner.
