The low mountedness of the energy hardpoints piss me off to no end. I tried something like this, and hills were OP.

Grasshoppers would actually be better for this, except for the very fact PPC quirks were a joke on them (these quirks existed on initial debut, obviously removed because they were laughably useless), so it wasn't even a consideration.

As long as we confuse mechs that have quirks with them, when the weapon system totally relies on quirks to be useful, tells you all you need to know how messed up it is.

Besides, Warhawks already have CERPPC arm quirks just as well. Gee, I wonder.

Im actually really pissed they removed the PPC quirks from that grasshopper. Triple PPC alpha on it was possible due to the heat gen quirks. It was actually a good jump sniper.

I'm not going to read every page of this, I'm just going to throw in my two cents on PPCs. I enjoy them. 'Mechs of mine that use PPCs of any variety are my Thunderbolt, my Centurion, my Awesome and my Warhawk. Most mechs are indeed more efficient with lasers, but some mechs have a sweet spot for the ol' blue orb.

There were zero velocity quirks.

This thread could be helpful if it leads to PPCs getting a velocity buff and heat reduction, while removing or reducing PPC quirks currently available. PPCs are currently useless on chasis that do not have velocity quirks. Is there another weapon system in the same situation?

I know. Had amazing heat gen on it though. I really wished they added velocity to it instead of removing it completely. So sad. I was kickin *** with it even at normal velocity lol.

I played the wub knight on the day it was released. Its a good mech.

Honestly in a duel it all depends on distance when you find each other positioning etc... could go either way. Then you gotta factor in pilot skill.

Then your enemies are bad, because even Jager doesn't bother with ERPPCs at that range. We've done some tests and ERPPCs even with quirks aren't great against ERLL at that range.

Usually when you cant hit with PPC's at range it means your not a very skilled player. Its ok, keep on practicing and one day youll get it.

You completely don't understand the argument.

For PPCs in general, when a PPC velocity quirk is not applied, your effective range is not the same as the competing meta-vomit alternative. Sure, you can hit your targets, but chances are you will take in bad trades (more return fire damage). The better your opponents (aka - lol no solo queue), the more likely such a trade is not in your favor.

That's what is totally passing you by, when you continue to argue these things on PPC quirked mechs.

Well its a good thing that this thread is about 1 quirked PPC mech variant with velocity... oh wait...

Your other problem is that the Black Knight is a very sub-par PPC mech just because of low mounts.

In a straight Grasshopper vs Black Knight comparison (both mechs are laservomit/energy heavy mechs - which happen to be IS)... besides the tonnage being a factor, the Black Knight will brawl better than the Grasshopper, but the Grasshopper is a better hill poker (and that's before we factor in JJs).

Technically, a better PPC fielding mech is the Suckoner, but that's a pretty low bar to achieve these days.

Saying that the mech is "good enough" is an OK statement, except when other related things matter (like terrain, that easily bogs down the Black Knight's PPC quirks), it's just bad form in trying to make it "acceptable". It's fine to call it underrated, but there's some legit reasons as to why that is.

Seriously, I'm just not threatened by a PPC Knight. I'd be more scared if it tried to brawl with LPL instead.

Good thats the way I like it anyway. I love it when people dont fear a mech, and then you get owned by it.

Depends, are you going to keep using the excuse that anyone who disagrees with you is somehow less skilled than you?

The PPC Black Knight is just not really impressive, quirks or not. If you can do good things with it, kudos to you, but to try argue with people who play at the same level and try and tell you it isn't that impressive the way you have is just trolling.

I never said I'd fear the Black Knight. That build? Not so much. The variant itself is fine... but using PPCs on it? lol no.

So you dont think the PPC Black Knight 7KNT is a threat at all. It is a bad mech your saying. Ok. Duly noted. Please understand, im not saying this mech is our gift from the mech gods. Im sure the Timberwolf is still slightly better overall. All im saying is, for this particular mech, the Black Knight 7KNT : this is a mech that is capable of more than people give it credit for. This is the meta build for this particular variant.

Not really, if there is a heavy PPC boat that I would be worried about, it is the WHM-6R with 4 PPCs.
