I am pretty okay with the new PH design. Totally looks like the Macross Valkryie like nothing at all. This is good for the legal standpoint.

The design needs to be consistent with the other mechs in MWO to create a common design theme or signature. So no surprise with the Enforcer like head.

Considering there are several manufacturers and 5 different 'nations' (as well as the smaller nations and peripheries), mech designs would actually vary quite a lot depending on the origin of it.

Also, to that one guy complaining about the 'laser pistol' that i forgot to quote and am not gonna go back to look for, Battletech had these sorts of weapons and they were meant to be picked up, put down, dropped, etc. It was basically an easy way for a mech with full hand actuators to 'change' its armament if needed. Think of it like an archaic omnimech system (the actual one from Battletech, not the omnipod system we use in MWO) for IS mechs.

Hooray for the Phoenix Hawk, it's always been my favourite! Posted Image The concept art is cool, no complaints from me; makes me wonder, if the Phawk is coming with a gun, will be Battlemaster ever be modified to have one too? Posted Image

I really hope to see the Battlemaster redone. Seeing that rounded canopy instead of the current boxy canopy would be nice. Also, if they could revamp that right arm a wee bit to mimic the hand held gun (to an extent), that would be cool as well.

The P-Hawk will be awesome to have. I hope PGI does it justice and give it the same 9 Lives hit boxes and structure like they did to the Arcit Cheeter. THAT would be wondrous!

It's re-imagined Unseen BattleMaster for future CGL products and IWM miniatures.

Imagine seeing it in MWO as some special geometry Hero variant.

I don't know what the gripes are about. The PHX here better recreates the original than, say, the Dragon. The Centurion not looking like the original is a bit too obvious and was a point of contention with me when it first arrived.

But yeah... are there two hero mechs coming out for this one? What about the stock configs? I'm probably going to get the Shin Yodama config (Drac, of course), but I read (and actually somehow enjoyed) Ideal War, so I do have a soft spot for the Paul Masters and the Knights of the Inner Sphere.

They seem like pretty decent recreations of the Crescent Hawks (From the PC games of yore) and Shin Yodama's canon paint scheme to me.
There are plenty of stock mechs to put camo onto. These days, it seems like you can override a lot of the camos for hero and collectors mechs.

It's interesting that the Phoenix Hawk is only the second 'Mech in MWO with two Hero variants (the first one being the Dragon with "Flame" and "Fang").

Well, soon there will be another one with 2 Heroes.
The Catapult (if i recall correctly they're planning on releasing the Butterbee with the whole rescale of it)

Clearly in one of the pylons on the back, duh.

If that's the case, we require additional pylons.

I just hope the backpack doesn't make the hitboxes god awful. Also pretty big legs. Not something you want on a 45 tonner. Hope it's better than the Vindicator.

I think that depends on quirks.

They are both humanoid 45 ton mediums with low hard points. It will probably require the same structure quirks the Vindicator needs so badly at the moment.

I do think the Fan Cannon on the right arm adds character, but it still is awkward considering no existing mech has a pistol or uses that function in MWO. Hopefully it will not become a swap-able hard point in MWO but stay purely cosmetic. If it became some really weird Omni hard point, it better have some drawbacks to it.

HELL YEAH!

Now I can use a Phoenix Hawk to hunt Marauders, to avenge Durant Carlyle's death in Decision at Thunder Rift.

In case anybody doesn't know, Durant Carlyle is the first MechWarrior to die in the very first BattleTech novel. He pilots a Phoenix Hawk which gets knocked down and has its head smashed in by a Marauder.

Edit: Love the design, though I do have a concern -- I hope those skinny-a$$ legs don't get mounted to a super-wide pelvis like the Ice Ferret. It looks like they are, and that needs to change. The side torsos need to be wider than the hips. The Phoenix Hawk is a linebacker with a V-shaped torso down to fairly narrow hips, not a lineman with hips as wide as his shoulders.

Reports of his death were clearly exaggerated, Durant Carlyle.
