Bane/Kraken should never be in this game, since it will bring all kinds of powercreep with it.

I have no problem with your opinion. But I want to know what kind of "Power creep" it'll bring...

Bane 1 = 14 ballistic hardpoints. [10 UAC 2, 4 MG]

At first glance you may shout OP but when you look again there isn't mcuh yo ucan do after you keep adding more and more hard points.
You can't really do 14 UAC 2's effectively unless trolling.
Would struggle to do more than 8 UAC 5's...
Maybe you can do 6 UAC 10's...
4 UAC 20's the cap due to crit slots
having more than 2 gauss is useless but if you want to you can put 5 possibly.
and machine guns... 14 slots of fun.

It will be as OP as a "Dakka wolf" but no lasers. meaning for CW it's pointless as most meta players drop the 6th UAC for an arm with lasers to make it viable and less ammo dependent.

The other variants...

Bane 2 = 8 ballistic hardpoints. [4 UAC 10, 4 MG]
Same story as above but less small weapon boating

Bane 3 = 9 missile slots (8 LRM 15's, 1 SRM 4 one shot.)
well this is where power creep starts to creep in... if you are afraid of LRM boats. however as a 100 ton LRM boat it is hard to compare with MW: O as our best LRM boats are on 85 tonners. (battlemaster, warhawk, awesome, etc)
The King Crab can easily mount 4 LRM 15's and some backup weapons, so this gives us an idea if we do have 6 missile slots on an Inner sphere mech it could carry 6 LRM 15's with an XL engine if the slots allow it. Sadly there isn't really a 100 tonner out there like that. Nor a 95 tonner. the best we got is the Longbow which is a highly requested unseen assault mech that has good potential... but it's an 85 tonner again.

It isn't much of a power creep, it's just the first pure LRM boat for 90 tonnes+. However I can tell you that it does not need any LRM quirks.

Personally, I do not think it's OP, the biggest problem all 3 show is that it has not a single energy weapon, It's like an unquirked Huginn, sure it's all fun and games when you got those MG's and SRM 4's with ammo but as soon as you start running dry you panic. It'll be interesting mech but I do not think it will push power creep.

Now onto my idea on what mech I want to see the least or not in MW: O, besides saying stuff like "Bloodasp before it's propper release date for the love of all that is good and holy!" I think I want to say...

This is a hard one... I....

Um...

...

well I guess... no no... not that....

um....

I am having a hard time- I love to have every mech in game when the time for it's addition comes Posted Image

um...

OH! I know Posted Image

Ragnorok!... filthy mechassault peasants *
Posted Image

*That was a joke. however It is a mech I would never want to see in MW: O.

Dire Wolf is balanced by its slug-like speed. The Bane can equip bigger engine as well as Endo since it is a battlemech, and does not have five locked DHS to take away its tonnage and slots, AND all of it's hardpoints are mounted at cockpit level. Dire Wolf got nothing on the Bane.

Direwolf has laser vomit...
Direwolf has the ability to not rely on ballistic weapons only...
Direwolf isn't so wide that even an LRM 20 without artemis will not miss a single missile on it.

I do really doubt Endo steel will be used on any 'meta' Bane due to the fact the weight savings will be well, 'wasted'. depending on the build.... You will run out of slots before you run out of tons. Much like using endo on nearly any assault.
Currently the meta direwolf is 4+ ER medium lasers, 2 large pulse lasers,2 gauss.
The older one is 2 ER PPC, 2 Gauss.
And a none gauss one is 6 UAC 5's, or 5 UAC 5's + lasers.

On kraken all we got is 2 gauss, 2 gauss, and 6 UAC 5's + as three possible builds. Not the best. Let's look at what we can do...

First of: Stock Kraken: http://skunkworks.me...050332056407030$

I can't change the engine on this mechlab that isn't divisible of 100 however let's for now pretend that 300 will be our main and we are merely trying to express weapon potential...

Endo gives us 5 more tons for the stock: however the meta will most likely never be 10 UAC 2's and 4 MG's... The heat will be staggering too for just 10 DHS.

So let's try to make this thing a bit more practical...
7 UAC 5's, 9 tons of ammo, 13 DHS.
http://skunkworks.me...306033205840703$

It's a bit better, but that's only a UAC 5 more than the standard 'meta' direwolf thanks to Endo steel and unlocked heatsinks however we are much much more hotter than a normal direwolf which is bad due to the fact more UAC 5's = higher ghost heat...
Advantages Direwolf has over this build: Better weapons to ton ratio, colder, etc.

with 6 UAC 5's, 12 tons of ammo, 17 DHS. we get a 'superior' build by 5 tons. http://skunkworks.me...703050882110305
However the problem this time is being well ,It lacks energy weapons, a Direwolf can sacrafice a UAC 5 for a group of ER Medium lasers or what have you... Kraken has to give an all or nothing approach. In short: While it has ammo, the Kraken will be a pretty heavy firepower ranged ballistic platform, however It will only be just that over the direwolf, (and LRM boat using the 3rd variant). the 2nd variant has issues competeting. Considering after the reudction of quirk strength recently quite a lot of direwolfs has vanished from the battlefields leaving a bit of power void there, we may expect to see the direwolf with possitive quirks someday maybe. However kraken will most likely get none of that. It's a bit of a trades game. however persoanlly I kind of wish I can just go off and do this when it's added......
http://skunkworks.me...103020634070302
12 Machine guns, 2 Gauss rifles... won't be OP... just funny. Posted Image
(AMS ammo = targeting PC 3, spare tons = engine upgrade)
Starting to think of it... I am tempted to put 14 flamer 2 Guass rifle Direwolf into action...

EDIT: well Direwolf does have low slung arms. It also has (beyond the benefits I said already) actuators, mixed builds (missile + ballistic, missile + energy, missile + energy + ballistic, ballistic + energy). and also it can have more than 14 weapons. the Direwolf can hit the max cap of 16 weapons in game.

I think they will make the engine cap for the bane be very low... maybe...

And all of that means nothing since the Dire Wolf still moves like a slug and unless in group queue, will most likely get left behind and be food for Lights.

Much better to have a Bane with CXL 350, Endo+Ferro, with Quad CUAC10s all mounted high, and 11 tons of ammo with 4 DHS in the engine. It is enough to turn tides of any game.

And the LRM boat version will have no fear against pesky Lights due to crapload of SSRMs at its disposal. It is like a wet dream come true, except it also comes with the sticky situation called power creeping.

Yes. I realize it's a Quadruped.

Any LAM.

Because they will never be LAMs in this game. Unless you think PGI will find a way to make these fly. Yes, you will be disappointed when you jump off the ring Tourmaline and land with a thud. But you can still imagine when you call in an air strike.

And good lord, the WASP and PH carrying a pistol? Can I pick it up after I blow off its arm? Maybe we will be able to buy masks and knock over convenience stores with it. "Hands up Locust, this is a robbery! Oh, never mind."

There is one exception though, the Scorpion LAM. Now that thing is beautiful.

How about we both don gothic plate, you get a broadsword, I get my war axe, and see what happens? Posted Image ( hint: I already know the answer, which is why I ain't the one with the sword.)

We already know what will happen: One swift slash from shoulder to hip with the sword and down you go, just like in the movies.

In reality the sword is an effective anti-mech weapon because Mech armor is not Heavy Plate in function nor design. It's brittle and designed to be ablative, not sturdy. It's closer to Ceramic plating, which disperses rather than withstands, kinetic energy. Is it as effective as a club or axe? No - it doesn't have as much weight behind the impact point. But it still works against Battlemech Armor.
