Lmao you used Starwars as an example? Welcome to 2016, you must've missed The Force Awakens, everything in Starwars has been redesigned. It's arguable whether it's for better or for worse, but atleast Disney is taking risks and understands that you need innovate to survive.
Mechwarrior is on it's last legs, after PGI is done rehashing everything. There won't be another Mechwarrior.
Please tell me ONE original thing in that Movie that hasn't existed in the the Star Wars/ Lucas Arts Universe for umpteen years and i will show you a mirror and a liar.
A lot can be said for the opposite actually, look at Pokemon. Was Great when kids were young, had 180 of them to catch, then they made a 2nd gen. Lost a lot of fans because they "didnt like" the new pokemon. So they try again, and again and again until they have basically just started taking the Old Good well known design and re did them because they were in fact what sold the best, what people enjoyed the most and you could get new fans as well as keep the old fans because everyone recognized your product.
Like bishop said, once you change it to the point that it isnt itself anymore why keep the name? At that point just start fresh with a new game or new idea. I am here for the Nostalgia and feels of piloting these Mechs AGAIN, not for the first time (well some like Unseens) but because i wanna drive the SAME mechs i threw across my room when i lost a TT match one nerdy Friday night.
There are plenty of other retreads of others ideas like Hawken and Robocraft for people to enjoy that are fresh, new and sometimes real lame.
BTW, buying anything from George Lucas isnt a bad idea dude has the midas touch. You are REALLY gonna tell me that Disney wasnt gonna make a buck off the toys, games options (infinity or whatever) and the chance to have Star Wars World at the theme parks?
The movies are just icing on that green cake.
