"A catapult is an Iconic LRM mech"

This is where we differ. Its an Iconic LRM boat to you but its not to me. Its just another mech. I know nothing about the history of the catapult, i dont know where it was made or who used it. If anything its a iconic srm boat to me because it was the splat cat.

This just hurts go read. It's like someone said an A-10 Warthog should be covered in .50s because "it's just another plane".

Lmao you used Starwars as an example? Welcome to 2016, you must've missed The Force Awakens, everything in Starwars has been redesigned. It's arguable whether it's for better or for worse, but atleast Disney is taking risks and understands that you need innovate to survive.

Mechwarrior is on it's last legs, after PGI is done rehashing everything. There won't be another Mechwarrior.

Please tell me ONE original thing in that Movie that hasn't existed in the the Star Wars/ Lucas Arts Universe for umpteen years and i will show you a mirror and a liar.

A lot can be said for the opposite actually, look at Pokemon. Was Great when kids were young, had 180 of them to catch, then they made a 2nd gen. Lost a lot of fans because they "didnt like" the new pokemon. So they try again, and again and again until they have basically just started taking the Old Good well known design and re did them because they were in fact what sold the best, what people enjoyed the most and you could get new fans as well as keep the old fans because everyone recognized your product.

Like bishop said, once you change it to the point that it isnt itself anymore why keep the name? At that point just start fresh with a new game or new idea. I am here for the Nostalgia and feels of piloting these Mechs AGAIN, not for the first time (well some like Unseens) but because i wanna drive the SAME mechs i threw across my room when i lost a TT match one nerdy Friday night.

There are plenty of other retreads of others ideas like Hawken and Robocraft for people to enjoy that are fresh, new and sometimes real lame.

BTW, buying anything from George Lucas isnt a bad idea dude has the midas touch. You are REALLY gonna tell me that Disney wasnt gonna make a buck off the toys, games options (infinity or whatever) and the chance to have Star Wars World at the theme parks?

The movies are just icing on that green cake.

Hopefully the rescale is going to help a lot of the mega quirks.

It because the splatcat because at the time it came out and we started that there weren't that many mechs in the game with that many missile hardpoints. When the amount of chassis was small it wasn't as big deal to a lot of us because it was what we had to use. Now that we are getting such a large library of chassis and variants a lot of us want to see those said variants have the quirks that made them exist at all in Battletech and then in Mechwarrior.

Remember too that we had the K2 with two AC10s when there wasn't another mech that was heavy and could have two ballistic mounts. Now we have loads. Time to get more into specifics. Even if you aren't a lore hound it can be neat to have one mech chassis rigged for a specific role yeah? The Awesome 8Q for example has some of the best PPC quirks in the game and really the only thing keeping it back is the model being easy to hit.

It is one thing not to know the lore, another to not like it at all. I think the lore can enhance the experience of the game if it was used a bit more, but it would have to be done in a way that lets folks like you that don't know much about it to understand it all.

And you are simply part of the problem.

Disney didn't have to come up updated designs of the iconic X-Wing, Tie Fighter, or Stormtrooper, but they did so anyways because they know how to keep a franchise fresh and exciting.

Same can be said with Pokemon, if they never expanded beyond the original 151, Nintendo would not be selling new Pokemon games to this day. In fact they are doing something unprecedented with Pokemon GO, and using smart phones as a platform instead of traditional handheld consoles.

If Mechwarrior ever makes comeback (which won't happen), it won't be due to existing mech designs including the iconic ones. Everyone's seen what an Atlas and Madcat look like, no ones excited anymore.

Also, nostalgia and new innovative mech designs are not mutually exclusive, you can actually have both. PGI has some very talented designers and artists, I think they would be able to come up with brand new Mech designs that would still remain consistent with the overall Mechwarrior universe.

You lore addicts are part of the reason why Mechwarrior is a dying franchise.

There hasn't been any innovation or creativity injected into the IP for decades, i.e. no new mechs with modern designs. Everyone wants customisability and the ability to make a mech uniquely their own without being pigeonholed through too many specific quirks.

and its people like you that would turn this game into Hawken or some other fail giant robot game, this happens to be the most successful out there because of the lore

wrong again, they change things for the sake of change because of the ego's of the people behind it, abhrams has this idiotic need to paint everything damn black, which does nothing any good, he just does it to impose his idea's on a franchise that needed no change, the new storm troopers looked crap and the idiot that played the new evil dark lord was more like horrid henry having a trantrum. The only thing that stopped it from bombing was the fans desire to have another film.

Had it not been for old school fans, it would have failed big time, if adam whats his face doesn't man up and act like a classy villian, Jar jar binks will lose his crown as the lamest character in the franchise

The Force Awakens was amazing.

Otherwise yes: more lore for MWO!

Soneone HAD to f***ing mention Star Wars, huh? Now we're entirely off-message, and the nerd rage is so thick you could cut it with a chainsaw.

Can I get a mod to rule this a NO-STAR-WARS forum, pretty please? It's complete counterproductive to our normal salt-spewing.

Try the PTS forum. they might welcome that like the Quickdraw bug awhile back.

I don't see the issue with the quirks they look alright. Some builds on the archer the missiles might actually be a secondary weapon and not primary. I know sounds blasphemy when talking about the lrm mech archer but looking at some of the hard points I could see myself running a wubby archer backed up with srm packs.

The only really main Quirk I hope to see would be for the never used, never seen LRM 20. Its almost as rare as Unicorns. Never seen a unicorn? Yeah, LRM 20s are all most as bad.

Missiles as a secondary on an Archer is just... wrong.
