I couldn't help but notice...

When the Tournament support pack was originally announced it was only a %10 XP booster.
Well played PGI. I'll buy one now
All in all I'm really looking forward to trying out 4v4. Looks awesome

Awesome patch, great work has gone into it, let the fine tuning begin.

But why oh why did you settle on the name 'Faction Play' out of all options?

Correct me if I'm wrong here, but I can't paticipate in the new scouting shenanigans if I'm not a loyalist? I will always prefer being a merc, and I love scouting and doing some brawling to cover for the little guys. I would be seriously disapointed if I can't start a merc unit who's purpose centered around this.

Looks impressive and thanks to all those involved in getting it programmed and ready.

I can see quite a few areas that will need some fine tuning over time. ie:

-4v4 mode, max drop deck 55 tonnes. Sounds great but why would a team take anything other than 4*55 tonne mechs. Would rather see (at least 4 groups) max drop deck of 220 tonnes shared 4 waays. This would allow for a greater variety of mechs and strategies in game.

-MC assignments needs to be increased to 12 as a lot of units will run 12 man drops and it makes sense to be able to give all members of a team their reward at the same time.

Wow that is an awesome patch. Thank you PGI for setting this up!!!

The only problem I see atm is the low amount of max MC income and the very limited options to share it. The high costs for recruiting new players for big units seem to be fair so far.

Reading this probably took longer than patching time needed

nice writeup, that should be your start for the ingame manual Posted Image

One thing I noticed is the absence of Clan vs IS fights. If I understand correctly, you can only attack factions you share borders with. This would mean that Davion and Liaos will likely never play against any clan faction at all.

Or is there still a "mixed" team option to fight at the northern border?

• Fixed an issue where Zoom and View Modes were waiting for a Server response before activating/deactivating. Players will no longer experience a delay when engaging Zoom or switching Vision Modes. Zoom Level is still determined by the Server.

So no more zoom delay?? :D or am I not getting it right?

If you haven't picked up your Tournament Supporter Pack yet, head over to the MechWarrior Gift Store to snag one.

Oh, they've been released? Cool, I'll just go... wait. Where are they?

Right. Not released until the patch. So of course I haven't picked up my Tournament Supporter Pack yet, no one has.

Jenner quirks changed.

Well, they're clearly never making the IS CB Jenners worthwhile again so that can only mean... Oh no...

LOL just removed the torso twist quirk nothing important here

Muahahaha! I live!

Now just make my Commando and SDR-5V worth playing. No, sticking MOAR AGILITY on the 5V isn't ever going to work.

Because they are excluding a segment of the community.

One real quick question. I'm mainly interested in playing FP as a unitless "Solo Loyalist", so I'd mainly drop in the FP Solo Queue. However, I'd occasionally want to drop in Group Queue with a group.

Can the Solo Loyalist join the FP Group Queue by grouping up with other players of that faction? Or do I have to create a unit of one to be able to join an FP group.

A strict reading of the relevant section suggests that you need to be a unit member to group up:

Quote

Faction Play Groups
• In order to join a Faction Play Group, you must be aligned to the same Faction as the members of the Group.
• A Faction Play Group can be comprised of players from different Units (so long as they are all aligned to the same Faction).

If this is so, I see no good reason for this limitation. If the guy is a member of the same faction, and is willing to group up, what does it matter whether he's a unit member or solo?

"The current Faction Play map and territories will be reset". Ok I get that.
But what isn't clear to me (I read the wal of text but may have missed it):
- Do current loyalists keep their earned progress with the faction?
- Do current loyalists also have to play 10 games before they start earning bonuses again?
- Perhaps obvious, but: I assume if you are in a large unit you won't have to pay an entree fee (just checking)?

Furthermore I don't see the Tournament Supporter Pack yet (it says available in store now), but I assume that will show up after the patch? And what will it cost?
Never mind, found the FAQ page for the tournament.

What happens to the already achieved ranks?
I just got rank 20 and wouldn´t want to grind for it again.

What happens when you desert a faction and then pledge loyalty again. Will you get the rewards for the ranks achieved with the lost 25% of loyalty points again? Easier said: Can you get the rank 20 reward of a single faction multiple times?

After waiting for 4 years (summer 2012), this is the first time that PGI thought about Community Warfare and setup something that seems to make sense !

Thanks for that PGI !
But I took a few days to come to this point and many, many players are already gone !

Maybe they will come back, maybe not...

Wow huge.....

Now to read through it.

Oh, and cheers for the effort Mr G. <S>

Edit : Ok, so read through.... Two immediate points.....

1) Forcing units to sign with a faction still sucks... You are forcing us (my unit) to dissolve, as we play casually, and mostly solo while none of us particularly have a desire to join a faction. So in order for us to play what was COMMUNITY warfare, we have to either break the unit or sign with a faction. Not good options in my opinion, either of them. I may reconsider FACTION warfare.... (I can see why it is now called faction warfare, cus the community part got shafted. Thanks for continuing to leave out a segment of the community.)

Um you can be Mercs and sign for 7 day contracts, no big deal, should work for everybody who doesnt want permanent faction membership but still wants to play CW.

Im sure it will be like it currently is you can lose loyalty points but never lose loyalty levels. Just means you need to grind more to get back to where you were and thus can only get rewards for each level once.

If I read this correctly, solo queue is for "Solo Loyalist" and "Freelancers" only. If you are in a Mercenary Unit but dropping alone you are in the group queue, same goes if you are in a Mercenary Unit with 1 member (you).

yup
