Sarna-ed the mech. I remember this one from the old TRO. Ugly. This is better. Not a piranha though, so no $.

Wow that trailer was lore breaking as heck. UNSC should not be pressing the advantage, an accurate trailer would've had the Brute steadilyy advance while the human commander just stood there and watched the UNSC forces get rekt.

Such a sexy looking machine. Fairly un-extraordinary hardpoints though. Is this the first MWO mech with digitigrade legs? Looks forward to the Nova Cat and Thanatos.

Nope. That honour goes to the Crab.
This is the first humanoid 'Mech with true digitigrade legs, though. Panther and Grasshopper have a bit extra ankle, but not true digitigrade

Oooh, that's true! I forgot the Crab had digitigrade legs!

Also I am predicting this now, The Nova is dead. If the HBKII didn't kill, this mech will. Yes quirks and hitboxes could make a difference, but all things being equal the Nova is far inferior. Same speed, same jump capability, but fully armored this thing will have around 23 tons of weapon space. The Nova at best 15.5 (fully armored).

Even though I am not getting it, it most likely will be one of the better Clan mediums. It could really find a place in FW depending on tonnage drops decks (as the max changes from time to time). I am thinking it could free up 5 tons if you normally take a Stormcrow.

Don't rush to bury my lovely Nova! New heatscale system might open some interesting opportunities, e.g. bigger alphas allowed for such underdog mechs. Even if it will not, there is plenty of time to enjoy little flashbulb till october!

On topic:
Every time I see HMN on the front page it makes me smile!) So gorgeous. Though then I see its legs I want to scratch my head. Can't accept it being a chickenwalker, more humanoid legs would suit it better IMHO. Cutting lowest leg section in half would make it more proportional.

Those are proto mechs by BT standards. Something between a battle armor and a true light mech.

Nova will still be the ERMLas/ERSLas/SPLas king, IMO. Way more crit space for DHS.

As for the Huntsman, it isn't a chicken walker, how Alex did it. It is a digitigrade leg setup which, when you consider the Nova Cat's next mech design was the Nova Cat itself, makes sense. Also the source art for the Huntsman is a bit ambiguous looking:

That said, the table top models of the mech seemed plantigrade. However, I like the continuation of a Clan Nova Cat aesthetic, personally. You had the fully reverse-kneed Shadow Cat, now the digitigrade Huntsman. Eventually, the digitigrade Nova Cat. In addition, Clan Nova Cat's future Sphinx (hard to see, but there's definitely an extra leg joint there where a knee should be), Wendigo, and Cave Lion all share digitigrade leg structure. It's an extremely Nova Cat design aspect. I love it!

Edit:

And what I really, really like? Either people seem to love the mech, or snub their nose at it. Which is excellent! You know why? Because that is a sure sign that the mech is a sidegrade. Not superior. Not inferior. A side grade to what we currently have. That means you can better tailor your medium mech of choice based on your playstyle. This is exactly why I have wanted the Huntsman and the Pouncer. Playstyle dependant mech choices that are equal, but fill a slightly different playstyle, to ones we already have.

Can't say I am not satisfied with HMN, those legs and special camo make it look like a true swamp monster! And yes this is a very Nava Cat design feature. Just the matter of perception though, old TRO picture is way more humanoid and thats what i imagined it to be.

Wish to see Alex concepts for Grendel and Linebacker next! Those are ugliest looking mechs from TRO58, yet somewhat attractive.

I wish to see Alex's Black Lanner. That's one of the most hideous mechs in a TRO, but made very beautiful by some artists in later images.

Personally I love the legs, besides, a good part of any design where a classic or older design is being revamped is to retain the flavour of the original while bringing it to a new and exciting place. Sticking slavishly to aspects that could be minor isn't very creative.

Anyway, some of the older artwork does almost look like the legs are a decent match. Honestly, love this design, I didn't know it was coming and am quite careful about what I buy in this regard, but the instant I saw the art for this, I bought it.

I am quite divided on this mech...on one hand, I do think it is a unique looking mech and looks like it could be fun at face value. On the other hand, it is a 50 ton medium with the speed of a heavy in clan terms, and that to me quite slow for a medium. Fixed jump jets and adequate armor I think will give it average tonnage space for actual weapons and ammo. Hmmm....

24T of pod space and depending on how far you want to go with armor shaving can get to 26t of pod space while still having enough armor protection.
