Sorry I can't play with this minimap - it confusing and makes me feel ill.

It does not rotate - even my car Sat nav does that,

From being one of the most important parts of the screen interface its not useless.

Look forward to playing when its fixed.

The new map is a total waste. Someone is trying to justify keeping their job as a coder trying to fix something that was not broken.

I suggest making the new map a checkbox in the settings and let people pick the one they like.

I played it once (as that's all it took for me to not want to play again cuz of mini-map, and ofcourse the violation of my precious light mechs).. but first impression.. the new map is bland and void of personality..

I politely and respectfully want to add my voice to the frey as well. This type of map on a small scale does not provide the useful relevant information needed. I've played world of warships and and they use this style of map which works great for that because you have many large, slow moving ships. Getting general information about fleet positions works great like that. But as for smaller more intimate fighting like in mechwarrior you really need to be able to see whats around you within 1000m or less since thats is what you range is at. Being able to bring up the battlegrid to get an overall sense of the map is fine and that is what it's for. But it doesn't help anyone during combat.

It makes a little sad too cause this patch had so much goodness to it, sad that such a small change had such a large soaring effect.

Actually the only way to play is sit back on dropzone with a lrm boat and let them fly without caring to move.. It´s like playing Worms again, but at least in Worms you saw the entire screen...

240+ posts before this one and I am not going to read them all, so this may already have been said...

Besides the obvious complaints, and I support them all, the map is also too large. It blocks the view for targeting mechs below you, adding one more issue to the uselessness of the change.

Wow I didn't think the minimap change would have this much of an effect. But yup I'm now wondering round last and confused on maps. Not a good change. Please try and fix it. May a zoom function at least, but I miss the old one a lot and would rather have it back.

ok i take back what i said. i kinda like it now.
it doesn't need to rotate.

however - i would still like to see where my torso is pointed without enabling the horrible tutorial arrow i refuse to enable that foul thing

This is the most awful mini map I have ever had the unfortunate experience to suffer through. For all the reasons everyone has listed please kill this map and go back tot he old one. This is actually making me not want to play this game which is a shame after all the time and effort I've put into this. Please fix this map and yell at whoever approved it!

I don't want to judge too quickly, because sometimes I disliked changes at first and grew to like them afterward.

However, one indisputable drawback of the new minimap is that it doesn't show other players' directions. This was extremely useful for getting a "feel" of a situation and your position w/r/t other players' positions and directions.

And to echo other players' complaints, 1) I wish it still rotated along with you, 2) showed the directional arrow, 3) wasn't so small.

Now it's like it's just a shrunk-down version of the entire map, but that isn't usually what I want.

Change the mini map!!! This one is total crap. PGI was too focused on making the mini map work with the new command wheel, and they didnt even bother to see what it did to the rest of the game.

Please change it back.

Yep, Now I am quite sure, that I want to have the rotating map and my field of view indicator back!!!

this is a problem that needs to be fixed !

its not a choice, it actually made me dizzy. its taking the control or "view" of the legs..my torso was spinning....

This new minimap is hideous. I find it funny that the excuse for removing directional information on the enemy is it's too much information but the new minimap trades this for the mech size. The direction of travel of a moving target is much easier to determine than the size. I don't get it.

Russ said that this was here to stay for a month at minimum. I'll stop back in a month and see. If it still sucks then good luck with the game. All the dollars I spend goes away as well.

What a shame.

whoever is responsible for this abomination needs to be fired immediately..

completely useless space now

just goes to prove the devs not only dont play this game themselves but have not even spent a few minutes play testing this epic fail.
