It does not rotate - even my car Sat nav does that,
From being one of the most important parts of the screen interface its not useless.
Look forward to playing when its fixed.

It makes a little sad too cause this patch had so much goodness to it, sad that such a small change had such a large soaring effect.

Besides the obvious complaints, and I support them all, the map is also too large. It blocks the view for targeting mechs below you, adding one more issue to the uselessness of the change.

however - i would still like to see where my torso is pointed without enabling the horrible tutorial arrow i refuse to enable that foul thing

However, one indisputable drawback of the new minimap is that it doesn't show other players' directions. This was extremely useful for getting a "feel" of a situation and your position w/r/t other players' positions and directions.
And to echo other players' complaints, 1) I wish it still rotated along with you, 2) showed the directional arrow, 3) wasn't so small.
Now it's like it's just a shrunk-down version of the entire map, but that isn't usually what I want.

Russ said that this was here to stay for a month at minimum. I'll stop back in a month and see. If it still sucks then good luck with the game. All the dollars I spend goes away as well.

whoever is responsible for this abomination needs to be fired immediately..
completely useless space now
just goes to prove the devs not only dont play this game themselves but have not even spent a few minutes play testing this epic fail.
