First, I genuinely like the fixed position of the map. It is similar to how I use GPS when driving, and it also keeps me oriented in which direction is North.
Second, I especially like the fact that my opponents cannot see what direction I am facing, however on the opposite side, I do think being able to tell which direction your allies are looking is allowable information.
The fix that is coming will be helpful, however I would request that a game settings option be implemented to allow players to choose between fixed and rotating mini-map. The closer zoomed in dimensions are absolutely necessary.
Now for my big complaint, the Command Wheel or whatever it is called. I beg for the elimination of the voice that goes along with the chat message. At best it is annoying, at worst people spam the game with it and make VOIP communication impossible because all that can be heard is "Negative, Affirmative, Sorry, Thanks!". I would much rather see larger indicators on the compass and on target reticles instead of the voice.

I would only STRONGLY suggest that in addition to the 2km mini-map scale they also include a toggle to 1km scale radius as well. I suggest this since many of the most intense engagements are close quarters - it would make Seismic Sensor and Adv Siesmic Sensor intel meaningful, and it would make intel on enemy mech direction facing highly relevant.
Hopefully, the hotfix will roll out soon, PGI will extend the Solstice event, and we'll all be back in the game. Until then I'll be catching up on some yard work...

"Russ said in the town hall that the ability to have exact position and facing information on the enemy was too powerful".
ummm..... WHAT!?!??! ...
Someone help me out here cause I don't understand -- General Mech sensors/Target Info gathering along with UAVs, Faction Play Combat Identification and Sensor Sweeps are smart enough to tell you exactly where the enemy is positioned, what direction they're moving, the exact model the enemy mech is along with it's EXACT loadout and even its current damage, but it's too stupid to translate "exact enemy mech position and facing" onto the minimap?!!?!?!
ummm.... WHAT?!??!!??
<wrapping *LOTS* of duct tape around my head to keep it from exploding> ... <sigh>

Yeah, that was one of several statements Russ made in the Town Hall that showed he had his head stuffed somewhere it should not have been. It's right up there with "I'm a WoT guy." If he is such a WoT guy, maybe he needs to GO WORK FOR WoT, INSTEAD OF RUINING OUR GAME WITH THEIR STINKING MINIMAP THAT REFLECTS 1920-1950 TECH. HELLO, MWO IS IN 3050. If my damn CELL PHONE can rotate to show which way I am going, then the tac map in my mech had DAMNED WELL BE ABLE TO.

Check the stats.
They are down and continuing in that direction.

I even tried playing with a post-It over the mini map, it's just not worth it. Can't play until it's fixed.
Current Hot Fix ETA: To be determined
Still waiting......................................................................

Dear PGI,
If there is one (ONE) person in the office, that said, or could said right now "I told You so", please, next time listen to that person. This person thinks.
I say more: give that person a raise and a promotion.
Listening to that person would save You moneyz.
Thank You.

It's not aggressive - do you think that if you did something at work that was universally loathed and you caused 19 pages of complaints, plus dozens of lost customers, that you would be congratulated or fired?
My suggestions:
1- Find people for your staff who are familiar with Mechwarrior and think of it as their favorite game (instead of world of tanks)
2- Play test everything - apparently you play test nothing
3- leave the map the way it was and add zoom and everything will be fine
4- The interface doesnt suffer from "too much info" but rather too much indistinguishable info.. for instance - the alarm sound for overheating is the same alarm sound for armor breach - after a while it is meaningless noise because it is ambiguous what the alarm is trying to tell you.. the alarms tell you something is worng, but not what it is.. terrible design. Even your car has a different alarm for "key left in the ignition" than "left your lights on".. basic design 101.
5- hire some people familiar with design - how the hell are we supposed to cross reference map coordinates while we are in battle? Worst design EVER
You must not have been here for third person view when it came out and several thousand people left and there was thousand of pages of posts. Or for ECM bubble, or knockdown removal because the goons trolled Pual with knockdown. When Russ says we are going to do this because I say so, he does it. Even if it ruins the game. Welcome to MWO. If you think it is anything different... Well then buy the new mechpack, I also heard the butterbee is a good mech!

In all fairness, they have somewhat learned they lesson. Even now, they have backtracked rather quickly, Russ even accepted the blame for this... on twitter.
They still reek of the "old PGI" and it's obvious they struggle on several fronts, but it's much better than the old poostorms caused by stuff such as 3PV, consumables and whatnot...
On the other hand, considering the unusual speed at which they backtracked from the new minicrap, it actually makes me wonder if they realized what a pile of mixed animal excrement they are about to release on the live servers and already planned a remedy...

No, they haven't learned their lesson in any way shape or form. What a load of ********. So he accepts this (being a very minute form that is the minimap* and we're to take this as he/them "listening"? What a crock of **** that is.
