Viper Does Look Great Tho

There's something about this sort of chicken legs, torso and arms that just screams realism. It doesn't look like an arbitrarily human-shaped robot, it looks like an actual warmachine. Similar to the Cougar and similar to this artwork of the Black Lanner. (And I know these chicken legs would be terrible in real life, before you point it out).
Anyway. Looks cool. Yay.

Doesn't really get me excited, but it will be nice to see a little bit less Stormcrows in the matches (at least for a few days after Viper's release)

Looks like a Nova that got its head stuck up a Raven's butt, to me.

It is either doa or op.
I do not care anymore...

Yeah. And it won't have enough free space to run 2xcERPPC like the Nova, I guess. What does it have, 9 tons of free pod space? You could run 2xcERLL, but... meh.

And let's not forget... 4 MGs. I also wonder if it can do 2 cSRM2s or 2 cSRM4s in addition to the red lasers.
I don't think it's going to be particularly good or particularly interesting in terms of possibilities. This thread is mostly about the pr0n, indeed.

Its true it does look like a cross between a Raven and Nova. Good call. Looks awesome though.
What would a cross between an Urbanmech and a Stormcrow look like?
Actually looking at the Viper again, it looks a lot like a cross between a Raven and Stormcrow and a Nova. Arguably best looking of the 3.

M arms on a C can get as much as 7E+4B. 7 CERS + 4 CMG is ~5.5 tons, so room for an extra 3 DHS. Using 7 CERS instead of 6 CSPL gives better range but is less heat efficient, but allows for those 3 extra DHS so it might work out as an overall advantage. The CMG are just three to help with finishing an already opened up armor location.
I'm not getting the reinforcements, though, so I'll be stuck with just 6E+2B+2AMS (Prime torsos on the Medusa). Will have to experiment with it to decide between CERSL and CSPL for that config.

Hard to beat the clean look of the Raven, but it's definitely up there.
Alex made a great call about combining these designs to make a new one. Both because the original concept was really weird and hard to fix, and because it creates a unified visual aesthetic, which is something most games lack and MWO has in spades. Sometimes a new mech will look a bit out of place, by virtue of being so unique, but Alex does a good job of creating new designs while mixing in the old ones. And it still has a few similarities to the ugly original concept.

I agree 100%.
I think that is one of the main reasons why I prefer the chicken-walker design over humanoid.
